1. The only deterrence...
Danny Dhimmi ,   USA   (11.22.12)
The only deterrence in this conflict is the deterrence that Obama and his allies in the left-wing media, the EU, the UN, and the NGOs exercise over the Israeli government: to deter Israel from finishing the job and fighting until victory.
2. No it's restored! Hamas' deterrence established beyond doubt
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (11.22.12)
IDF and Netenyahu government throw the towel and deterred terribly. Next time it will be worse, Israel in descent, and as I said as technologies converges for two side, there remains bravery to best other side. and Bravery is most scarcity in Israel!
3. Netanyahu's victory in the elections will now be pyrrhic
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (11.22.12)
4. Where is Sarah B?
Steven ,   Bankok   (11.22.12)
HAHAHAHAH all this time we heard Sarah B talking about how Israel was going to level Gaza. Turned out Hamas leveled the playing field with Israel. G-d is the Greatest!
5. More details are leaking out . . .
SD Charger ,   San Diego   (11.22.12)
The US is sending some heavy firepower into the region, earlier then planned, as part of the "deal." Perhaps the US has told Israel if the cease fire does not last, there will be a high price to pay during the next exchange? Israel is not going to leave their necks on the line in the middle of a skirmish with Gaza, so this temporary truce is to give Gaza one last chance to find peace? Several warships, Marines and other Navy vessels are leaving their ports headed to the waters surrounding Israel, so something is definitely happening. Perhaps they will finally put Iran in their place if this truce fails? At least Obama has put his support behind Israel by ordering those vessels into the region. They are always 100% battle ready and can devastate a country with their firepower alone. They will be able to reach out and touch Iran, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon from their positions in the Med. Again, Checkmate Iran and Hamas.

7. Deterrence will be restored next time!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.22.12)
8. Yeah well read if again then geniuses
Mea   (11.22.12)
9. No deterrence but one less front (temporarily)
Alan ,   Canada   (11.22.12)
If a military conflict with Iran is in the cards for early 2013, then the only really significant outcome of the Gaza operation for Israel would be a lessened threat from the southern front. Otherwise, the terms of the ceasefire & putting Egypt of the Muslim Brotherhood as a watchdog of its clauses is just an incitation for Hamas to repeat with greater confidence & power the same kind of terrorism.
10. It could have been done for free.
Paulo A. Pereira ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (11.22.12)
I really don't get what this operation was all about. As an admirer and friend of Israel I'm deeply stunned by this outcome. Not only Israel didn't restore the deterrence factor, even worse, it ended the operation in a weaker position vis-a-vis hamas, Iran and its enemies. Now, if the goal was simply to ease the blockade on Gaza, and allow gazans easier passage to Israel, why did Israel enter into a war ? Wouldn't a phone call suffice ??? Shame on Netanyahu / Lieberman !!
11. What deterrence...Sigh...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A./Israel   (11.22.12)
For the first time in my life I felt fear and had to hide under a table while missiles from terrorists were falling all around me... I guess its back to the U.S.A...
12. Alas, what deterrence?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A./Israel   (11.22.12)
I came to enjoy myself in Israel but instead found myself sheltering in a crawl space in the basement. I guess its back to the safety and comfort of the great U.S.A...sigh... Where is Golda Mier to see what has happened to the great nation she helped build. A nation that is being systematically weakened by wimps like Netenyahu, Barak and Lieberman
13. IDF or Morsi ?
Gabe ,   Canada   (11.22.12)
Who was supposed to stop the rockets falling on the population of Israel ?
14. #4 Sarah is on her way to Israel
(11.22.12)
She claimed she was to depart yesterday or today, so I'm guessing she's either on the plane or busy.
15. Terry-Eilat, I miss you
observer ,   Egypt   (11.22.12)
"Israel should unilaterally strike Iran". How can troops, in the same time, take cover from flying pipes and direct smashing blow to Iran nuke?
16. Israel is more at risk now than it was before
zionist forever   (11.22.12)
We have achieved nothing except destroyed some buildings in Gaza, got 6 Israelis killed and of course we have agreed to open the Gaza crossings to Hamas. The only star on Israel's side was Iron Dome. I was watching SKY NEWS, they were discussing the ceasefire and showed some children in Gaza drawing on blackboard and when asked what it was they said it was Iron Dome and they wanted one. Hope that at least leads to some exports, if t does will be at least one good thing to come out of all this.
17. #4 You are amaze me
Dan ,   Florida - Tel Aviv   (11.22.12)
Israel certainly has the will and capability to level Gaza but only fools like yourself rush into unknown territory before the battlefield is shaped correctly in ones favor. That way casualties are minimized. That however does not concern you as it seems that only the color of the chess pieces are what is important to you and not how they are played. Let's let Hamas break this truce as they most certainly will and then Egypt AND Israel will destroy Gaza and Hamas or Egypt no longer will be recognized as a leader in the Middle East.
18. Obama pressured Netanyahu
Rabbi Yakov Lazaros ,   USA   (11.22.12)
That much is clear. What we dont know is what he said and what he threatened him with to make Netanyahu back down.
19. Washington is paying off Egypt
Ezra ,   San Diego USA   (11.22.12)
Egypt is receiving money for cooperation. Paying off the Muslim brotherhood will not last. Soon enough his people will start complaining that the great Satan is paying him off. I wager rockets will start again in 48-hours, and the world will ignore the next 30 rockets pointed toward Israel.
20. Have the Israeli's lost their minds?
BJL ,   usa   (11.22.12)
It is an immoral capitulation
21. you have to wait and see
Avi ,   USA   (11.22.12)
No one thinks Lebanon ceasefire will hold but we got 6 yrs so far. You have guarantees from Egypt and the US. If Hamas breaks ceasfire we can always go back to bombing. With Iron D we don't need ground forces in gaza. We can keep hitting from air. You don't want defensive shield 2 b/c it means occupying Gaza. We should only occupy Philadelphi nothing else.
22. # 5 You need help!
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (11.22.12)
23. Nethanyuo MUST be defeated in the elections
JJJ   (11.22.12)
Nethanyuo MUST be defeated in the elections, MUST, he is a looser just as Livni. Israel just sunk in to a deep hole, this man is not fitted to deal with Iran
24. BiBi's strategy: Whittling away at Iran's surrogates
Shep ,   Memphis, TN - USA   (11.22.12)
We are in the first inning of a battle plan that will end up with Iran beaten down just like Hamas, and let's be clear, Hamas had it's ass whooped. There is no purpose in erasing Hamas entirely, as their replacement would probably be worse. Israel will not hear a peep from Hamas when Israel takes on Iran, and that is the end game: To weaken Iran's options on Israel's borders. Hezbollah is already weakened by the Syrian fiasco, but they may have to be dealt with before Israel goes into Iran.
25. i realize i am sitting behind my
Barney ,   USA   (11.22.12)
computer stating my opinion. but every American Jew that I know sees this as defeat for Israel. why in the world you wouldn't pound the stew out of them until they got the message i don't know. you have the weaponry, technology, but sadly you don't have the backbone.
26. # 4
Dr Dickie ,   Rambam ,Haifa,Israel   (11.22.12)
She is being treated for shock.
27. That's rich: Lapid as Grand Warrior, this joker is not funny
tom ,   tel aviv   (11.22.12)
28. parteners in terrorism
michel ,   ashkelon   (11.22.12)
When a murderer recidivist is released, everybody knows what will happen.Next time the guilt will be shared by the murdered and those who released them. Those who pressured Israel and prevented him to finish the work are plainly parteners with the terrorists. That is the change Obama brougth.
29. 2 why should Israel play your game?
(11.22.12)
30. 2 40000 syrians died because Turkey won't enter Syria.
Abdul   (11.22.12)
