1. A message to the Egyptian people!
Mina ,   Haifa, Israel   (11.22.12)
Act now and control Egypt's 'new pharaoh'!. If democracy is what he alleges to be supporting, then he would understand, that in democracy, it is the people who will elect him or remove him. Wake up Egyptians, before you'll become a second Iran!
2. I wonder ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.22.12)

3. Notice announcement's on the heels of his meeting
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (11.22.12)
..with Hilary and his opportunism regarding the recent events in Gaza? Impeccable timing that might invite a bullet from disgruntled seculars
4. From one travesty to another...
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (11.22.12)
So, is this post-Mubarak system democratic and pluralistic ? Where is power sharing ? To me the judicial authority is supposed to be the most sacred and impartial of all three powers not to be controlled or influenced by any side . And definitely the executive power should not be without limits simply because power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely . Apparently the maturing of democracy in arab countries still has a long way to go ...
5. OH! I DO HOPE SO! THAT MORSI IS PHAROAH KING OF EGYPT!
Rivkah   (11.22.12)
Ezekiel the Prophet speaks of someone called Pharoah King of Egypt who is destroyed with his multitude (military) in the land of the Chaldeans (Iraq). OH! LET US HOPE IT IS MORSI! That way it won't be BHO and US troops who perish.
6. Time is urging Morsi
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (11.22.12)
to build his pyramide. Even with the most sophisticated machines constructing a pyramide takes years.

Amos Jonah   (11.22.12)
a Pharaoh in Cairo, a Great Ayatollah in Tehran and and a humble vassal Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, bowing down to all....what a pity.

james ,   london england   (11.22.12)
10. Dr I'm sorry for your lose of your family
Ex-Gaza Activist ,   San Francisco   (11.22.12)
I want to start by sending my love for your children you have lost. I have lived in gaza from 2001 to 2005. I remember watching the disengagement and in my mind I was celebrating. I left after the disengagement because what I saw with my own eyes contradicted everything I believed in my heart. I saw buildings being destroyed and militants taking over. They did not give homes to my friends families in Gaza. After that I thought hard and long about the situation in Gaza. Hamas is more threatening to the Palestinian people than Israel is. I have in my computer videos of hamas militants using children as scouts(lookouts to make sure the cost is clear from Israeli soldiers). I'm hardly considered a fan of Israel, but what Israel just demonstrated to me in this operation is their desire not to fight. I saw then drop leaflets, text messages, phone calls. I must say that Israel demonstrated a restraint I have never seen before. I still am angry they don't call abbas to the table, but I must say what I know and see. The best thing for the Palestinian people are good hearted people like you calling out the injustices done against the Palestinian people from their own extremists. Once again, I can't believe I'm doing this, but I just gained allot of respect for Israel for restraining itself. Israel could have wiped gaza out, even after the bus bombing, but they took the high road. I'm very impressed. Peace to everyone, Taylor
11. So Much For Democracy In Egypt
Ross Gallen ,   Henderson, USA   (11.22.12)
The names and faces change but it's just another dictatorship. One is secular and one is religious. Egypt has no history or experience with democratic institutions. Strong men make for bad government policy.
12. you do have to admit
gingimax ,   istanbul   (11.22.12)
he's got a nice pantsuit

15. More See......More Garbage
Koose E Mack ,   NY NY   (11.22.12)
Looks like the Arab Spring bounced and hit Egypt in the ass! Tell me people of Egypt, are you happy now that you have Democracy, Liberty, and Freedom? Is this Homar going to give you jobs, food, and security; or more Islamo Fascist hate rhetoric against the West and Israel? Wake up people! Mubarak was no angel, but Morsi is Satan!
16. Taylor...thanks!
Froike ,   NY NY   (11.22.12)
It takes a mentsch to admit that he was wrong. We Jews/Israelis are not haters, baby killers, or war mongers. All we want to do is live our lives in peace and quiet. I'm certain that the average Palestinian wants the same. Let the Hamasniks, PLO, Hezbollah, and other terror organizations kill each other....and may the rest of the world enjoy peace, good will, and brotherhood!
17. #11
Thomas the Doubter ,   USA   (11.22.12)
This is not 'just another dictatorship'. These are fanatics in Cairo intent on restoring the Islamic empire of centuries gone by. The only reason they were so quiescent during the latest Gaza fighting is that the Brotherhood has not yet completed securing all of Egypt's state institutions to itself yet. Morsi's move today is yet another giant step on that road. Once that process is complete then the mask will come off and the whole world (especially Israel) will see the new Egypt for what it is.
18. # 10 - Thank you
Yaara ,   Israel   (11.22.12)
Thank you for your honesty. For someone who is not exactly a friend of Israel but can trully and honestly say what he saw.. You have very high morals. Unfortunatly lots of people beleive Hamas propaganda that Israel is killing civilians, women and children. They go killed because Hamas is hidding behind them. Hamas pointed every single rocket to Israeli citizens. Thankfully for us we have Iron Dome. It saved lives of many people. Please report what you saw to the outside world that the world see that the Hamas is hurting their own people.
19. Morsi shows no Mercy - to opposition
(11.22.12)
First he usurps the Army , then he squashes the Judiciary, and then all Political opposition. Mercy has become the new pharonic idol to be worshipped and idolised. To listen to the way the world heaped praise on one man for convincing Hamas to give up their desire for self extermination seems OTT. We have a new puppeteer in town to join Erdogan and Ahmadinejad who know how to use a megaphone but wont face reality.
20. here begins another fat cat regime
Barney ,   USA   (11.22.12)
with millions of suffering people, no freedoms, no prosperity, no say in how they live their lives, all in the name of allah for the benfit of the muslim brotherhood. is anyone really suprised? if you are then you must put on a dunce cap and sit in the corner for 20 years.
21. Winners and Losers
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (11.22.12)
It turns out that Obama's seeming incompetence in letting Libya, Egypt, Sinai, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan fall to Islamists was a well thought-out strategy. Obama is the big winner, a President who revolutionized American foreign policy from supporting Arab dictatorships susceptible to criticism from the Left, to Islamist regimes that are fanatically supported by the Left. Obama also deserves credit for leveraging high oil prices in the Middle East to allow American oil independence by fracking. Another winner is Morsi, who can keep his Islamist ideology and still be Obama's main ally as the leader of the most powerful Islamist state. Obama will be able to force Congress to feed, fund and arm Islamist Egypt. The former Arab allies of the US are losers: the rich Arabs and Jordan's king will soon be found living in London or hanging from trees. The biggest loser is Israel now surrounded by American-allied Islamists and considered an illegitimate entity devoid of the right of self-defense. Inside Israel, the biggest losers are the Leftists who thought that by surrendering to Arab demands Israel would gain legitimacy for self-defence and are now proven wrong, and the biggest "winners" are the Zionists who can say I told you so.
22. Ariel Sharon told George Bush
Mea   (11.22.12)
That Arabs will never adapt to democracy because it doesn't work with their culture which is based upon influence in business, familial social order and deal making. Morsi declaring himself an untouchble is call for Obama to kick him to the curb on aid, as well as Israel plCibg strident demands duri g the treTy talks coming up. Morsi has made Obama his bitch.
23. El Baradei is mad
Steve from Raleigh   (11.22.12)
Because it will be harder for Iran to take over
24. Knie jerk condemnation
Beauchard ,   amsterdam   (11.22.12)
What is the one thing that unites all Egyptians, religious and secular? Their hatred of Jews. This is born out in all opinion polls and by anybody (me included) who has ever been to Egypt. Their hatred is intense. They rejoice at the death of Jewish children because for them Jews are not human beings, but demons. So stop whining about loss of western-style democracy there. A strong leader willing to make compromises is preferable to a mob democracy. In Egypt "We the People" crave for dead Jews.
25. Kick him to the curb, President Obama
Mea   (11.23.12)
Morsi cannot be allowed such a power grab and also receive US or IMF aid--email your displeasure to Www.whitehouse.gov
26. despotic leaders
Henry ,   Cavite, Philippines   (11.23.12)
History tells us that when a people remove from office a despotic leader through violence, they get a worse despot as replacement. We can see that now in Egypt. Morsi and the MB are making preparations for Armaggedon. Morsi is definitely taking Egypt into total destruction.
27. #2 Read 2016 Obama's America
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (11.23.12)
Dinesh D'Souza's bestseller made into a film. Proves Obama is a destructive anarchist out to humble Colonialists Israel, and the old world order I hope he will not make it through 2nd term
28. Unitary Executive Theory
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (11.23.12)
Somebody must have told Morsy about the Theory of the Unitary Executive that is a BS theory in US politics. It was first propounded by Nixon and Later by Reagan and Bush the Younger. The theory holds that the executive power is unlimited and unconstrained because nothing a President does can be illegal because he is President.
29. 22 Mea - George Bush Famously Said
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (11.23.12)
George W also famously said, "I'm the Decider. Heh, heh, heh." And called treaties the US wrote and signed quaint and insignificant. It took the US Supreme Court to tell him that he had fewer powers than Louis XIV.
30. strange coincidence
Gaby ,   Boston, MA   (11.23.12)
He grants a power to himself and not to someone else.
