1. never ending war
Brad Naksuthin ,   Boulder USA   (11.23.12)
60 years ago in the United States black people couldn't even eat in the same restaurant as white people. They couldn't live in white neighborhoods, go to white schools, drink from white drinking fountains, sit side by side on the same bus. 60 years later blacks and whites have learned to work and live together side by side in peace. Even electing a black President. Meanwhile in Israel a childish schoolyard feud between Jews and Palestinians has been going on for over 60 years, too. Only unlike the blacks and whites, Jews and Palestinians are no closer to living side by side in peace today than they were 60 years ago. During those 60 years Apartheid in South Africa i ended; Communists and Capitalists figured out a way to co-exists and cooperate; the IRA ended its bloody war in Ireland; America and Communist Vietnam buried their differences and now share diplomatic and trade relations. People across the globe have learned to put aside their differences and beliefs and have learned that there is more to be gained by working together than fighting against each other. Only the the Jews and the Palestinians, continue their 60 year old feud of self-righteous hatred and revenge. If Jews and Palestinians can't be creative enough to find a way to live in peace...like everyone else...maybe they should be left to bomb each other for another 60 years or until nothing is left in Israel and Gaza but of rubble and dead bodies.
2. There's noreal conflict between Israel&Turkey. US wont allow
Obsessive ,   Turkey   (11.23.12)
3. OSTRICH hope! ISLAMISM forces IRREVERSIBLE Israeli victory!!
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (11.23.12)
4. GOOD ANALYSIS
Rafi ,   US   (11.23.12)
But don't expect Iran to sit still. Moreover any "Sunni" axis is shaky at best...
5. Egypt, Clinton and Hamas
Linda ,   USA   (11.23.12)
We don't trust Clinton here, we sure don't like or trust Morsi here. Hamas is a danger! As more and more islamics scream sharia law here in America the more our freedoms are in danger. When obama stood up in front of the UN (united nuts) and said that islam must be respected then Christians, Jews, and all other religions in our nation knew where he stands and it isn’t for any religion except islam. Most of us do not trust him and think that the election was rigged. The people of the United States of America are tired of funding countries that burn our flag and wish death to us. Our federal government has grown way too big for it’s breeches. Israel, you will never be alone. You have The All Mighty on your side and the hearts of a lot of American’s. The All Mighty never left America; the bleeding heart liberals pushed him away! The shame is WE THE PEOPLE let them! All of us have to fight satan and his powers daily.
6. Israel's future in the Middle East
Mahmoud ,   Jakarta, Indonesia   (11.23.12)
The time is NOT in favour of Israel. Israel must learn to live in peace, harmony and JUSTICE with all its Arab neighbours, specially the victimised Palestinian nation. Wars and more wars, forced occupation, killings of people, burning of farm land and depriving Palestinians of a dignified livelihood are the policies of a Facist regime, and should NOT be that of the State of Israel. Save Israel from itself and its very foolish short sighted policies.
7. You must be kidding!
Ron from NJ   (11.23.12)
Meshaal has thanked Iran profusely during and after this episode. Whether Iran gave Hamas actual missiles (likely) or just shared the teechnology (as they want us to believe, otherwise Israel was and will be justified in attacking the Sudan supply route) -- it is clear that Iran's involvement was essential. No question, Iran will play an even larger role now in supporting Hamas going forward.
8. Sunni axis is the lesser of two evils
Jake ,   USA   (11.23.12)
The Shiite axis is currently wreaking havoc on the entire region, while the Sunni axis has proven to be more pragmatic and less radical over the years. By the way, Egypt becoming Hamas sponsor is exactly what Israel needs. Total separation of Gaza and the West Bank. For all the bravado from Hamas, they are orbiting Egypt now, and they know it. Netanyahu is no idiot.
9. #1, no comparison whatsoever
Jake ,   USA   (11.23.12)
Whites & Blacks in America both live under one flag. There are Israeli Jews and Israeli Arabs who do in fact get along just fine. The problem is the hostile separatist Arabs who call themselves Palestinians, which apparently is synonymous with terrorism and vicious Jew hatred. Israelis can never live with these people. They must be soundly defeated.
10. Brad Naksuthin
Arnold ,   Canada   (11.23.12)
You brought up some excellent points. The one thing all the people involved that have learned to live with one another is their civilizational and religious background. 99% of them are from some sect of the Christian world. Then we have Islam and Judaism that seem to have this Hatfield and McCoy family feud going on through the centuries. When Jews live in host countries they keep their head down , work hard to earn a living and truly add to the positive makeup of the country. Muslims on the other hand are led around by religious fervor. They do not blend in with host countries and all throughout Europe they are on the breadlines sucking out what they can because the social fabric of those countries allow it to happen. Facts on the ground in the Middle East shows huge rifts between all the sects of Islam. The pecking line as follows. #1- hate the Jews. #2 Hate the Christians and #3 hate each other.
11. EMPTY Temple Mount! Not enough? "STONE the devil PROPERLY"!!
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (11.23.12)
12. #10 in this case according to yr logic US wants a rift
Obsessive ,   Turkey   (11.23.12)
13. The Sunni axis
E1   (11.23.12)
Stupid things about sharing the world between Sunni and Shea! US strategy in the region, basing it on Egypt and Turkey as an alternative to Israel, and renewing the cold war against Russia and China, was a complete failure The "Arab Spring" brought only dictatorial Islamic regimes over the region, as the one in Egypt , and even Al Qaida regimes as the one in Lybia and in Sirya (if the rebels supported by Turkey will prevail). The only good thing from the changes may be the demilitarization of Gaza strip and its annexation to Egypt. Gaza strip is not Palestine, but Egypt and is now closer to re-become Egypt than ever. Hopefully it will happen now. US has not a better allie in the world (and of course in the region) than Israel and if Israel is winning, US is winning and vice-versa.
14. #6 "peace, harmony & Justice" Arab style
Cynthia ,   USA   (11.23.12)
We just watched the Palestinians shower Israel with missiles, then cry victim. The Arabs started every war and inspite of Israel ending the occupation and leaving Gaza, it wasn't enough because they want all of Israel. If you can offer the Palestinians a better life in Indonesia, you are free to open your door and live in harmony with them.
15. Morsi's victory
David ,   Fullerton, Californi   (11.23.12)
Undoubtadly Morsi has gained by the cease fire, but by his removal of the Egyptian judiciary's power next day he raised serious doubts about his policies in the US and the West. By playing a major role in the negotiations Egypts role in stopping rocket smuggling to Gaza through the Sinai is emphasized. It should be hold responsible for further smugglings and the US administration that praised Morsi for his constructive role in the negotiations should firmly remind him of this responsibility.
16. oil and water mix
Moshe ,   Paris   (11.23.12)
The real issue is not religion ,or hate, but all the natural resources of petroleum that sit in the Mediterranean and the lack of fresh water in the region. Everything else is a smoke screen by "democratic" governments , you know their names. He who controls the natural resources controls the region.
17. Thousands are demonstrating and burning all across Egypt ..
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (11.23.12)
Opponents and supporters of Mohammed Morsi clashed across Egypt on Friday, the day after the president granted himself sweeping new powers that critics fear can allow him to be a virtual dictator. At least 15 were reported injured. In a sign of deepening polarization, state TV reported that protesters burned offices of the political arm of Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood group on several cities on the Suez Canal east of Cairo and in the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria, while Islamists engaged with fistfights with Morsi opponents in southern Egypt. Tens of thousands of pro-democracy activists meanwhile converged on Cairo's Tahrir Square, angered at the decisions by Morsi. The decrees include exempting himself from judicial review, as well as a panel writing the new constitution and the upper house of parliament, and the power to enact any other measure he deemed necessary to deal with a "threat" to Egypt's "revolution."
18. #6,All sides must want peace as well
MARK ,   Boston USA   (11.23.12)
Hamas does not want peace. They want to destroy Israel and refuse its right to exist. Hamas needs to change its tune as well. How can you have peace with that attitude?
19. #6, The Salafists and other groups
MARK ,   Boston USA   (11.23.12)
Even if Hamas wanted peace, There are more extreme groups that OPPOSE peace. These groups are in the Sinai.
20. #8 are you kidding?
Zvi   (11.24.12)
You're forgetting al Qaeda and all other Salafists, including the MB.
21. Sunni Axis??
Yavan ,   USA   (11.24.12)
Sunni Axis ? What do you smoke? I hope it is not Turkish opium..Where was that Sunni Axis when Mavi Marmara was going to Gazza to stop the IHH and the Islamists? Where was when Erdogan attacked President Perez in Davos? Where is it now when Ankara is selling gold to Teheran and also gets Iranian gas from them??It seems that certain Israelis love the Stockholm syndrome/ relation with Turkey.
22. #21
Obsessive ,   Turkey   (11.24.12)
Turkish Islamists hate secular Turks and European Union. Financial crisis in the EU makes Islamists happy but working-class secular millions are suffering because of harsh competition, Erdogan's agenda and ME issues. Islamists are softening their tones because financial crisis is still growing non-stop and Turkey's main (truly only) trade partner is Europe. Turkey's only strong natural gas (and indirectly electricity) provider is RUSSIA instead of expensive Iran (in the name of diversification) We know what Gazprom has done to Eastern Europe and Ukraine for severe winter. Beside 200 million (only-consumer) Arab world, Qatar has 400 Billion USD in its wealth fund. Only annual gas profit is 60 billion USD. Average monthly salary is above 10.000 USD. Fastest and biggest annual growth. 2 million foreign workers for 200.000 Qatari happiness. Turkish Islamists with the permission of the United States, want an highly lucrative and advantageous Sunni Caliphate which RECOGNIZES State of Israel with 1967 borders against Iranian Molla regime and right-wing Israelis. This game will be finished tragically for everybody. With or without Syria, Iran is getting stronger. Resource poor Turkey's only asset is the secular hardworking people with Europe. That's why Israel & Turkey are natural allies if Israel wants.
