You either are blind or choose not to see. There were "only" a little over 100 people killed in Gaza during the 8 day operation. Israel went through great lengths to try and accurately target militants and targets they felt were military targets. They even dropped leaflets and made phone calls to warn civilians in many cases. The Palestinian militants have been firing rockets at Israel for YEARS specifically targeting innocent people, and civilian targets. I don't think you'll accept a reasonable answer, but that is my attempt at it.

Do you realize how ridiculous your comments are? There would be no need for checkpoints, border crossings and barriers if the Palestinians were peaceful. That doesn't keep Palestinians destitute, it keeps them out of Israel to commit terror. Protects them from themselves. None of these barriers are permanent. If the Palestinians mended their evil ways and recognized the benefit of peace with Israel, they would prosper. Israel lets them in for specific purposes such as work, medical care and in some cases for family visits. The leaflets warn them to get out of the way of a response. Hamas and their other head, Hezbollah send no warnings. The Palestinians abuse the UN more than anyone.

Israel has had spy sats for along time, where have you been? As for America and russia, they also have spy sats above the others capitals and have had them for quite a few years. It may sound absurd, but one can tell a great deal about the enemy's offensive and defensive capabilities. For example, if Iran ships parts of a rocket by UPS to Gaza to be constructed at the site of their launch, satellite pictures will show such parts being unloaded hidden in packaging,which would give Israel the opportunity to destroy them prior to launch.
