31. State ?
Ben ,   Free world   (11.29.12)
State of what? What kind of state are they looking for? State of terror? State of chaos? State of denial? State of shock? State of war? Welfare state?
32. Rename new states of Gaza & West Bank
Ben ,   USA   (11.29.12)
Sodom & Gomorrah....................
33. Palestinian objective is not just state
Sam ,   Canada   (11.29.12)
For Palestinians getting a state is just an opportunity to move up in territory and make it easier to destroy Israel. If Palestinians meant peace they wouldn't have a problem saying that peace results in Palestinian and Jewish majority states. If the world wants peace it should ask the Palestinians why they refuse to rather than grovelling to the Palestinians at every opportunity.
34. So what are we going to do about it?
Bill Klien ,   USA   (11.29.12)
So what are we going to do about it? Time for Israel to annex area C and low populated areas of Area B. The French British consulate in Jerusalem and any other country's consulate that votes for this resolution should be closed. Israel showing weakness is the cause of all of this they don't fear Israel will do anything. Quit worrying about the ICC And your personal butts. International Law is on Israel's side AG Weinstien is nothing more in my opinion than a agent for Obama and a attorney with no International Law experience who pushes legal opinions and rewrites international law to motivate his own agenda.
35. Netanyahu
Michael ,   Haifa   (11.29.12)
The more stupid his actions, the bigger his mouth
36. On your feet Zionists !!
Gabe ,   Canada   (11.29.12)
Stop politicians from selling out the land of your forefathers.
37. Palestine
ltrail ,   United States   (11.29.12)
The so-called palestinians need to come up with another name for any land parcel that they would try to usurp. The term PALESTINE is already the name of the land of the Jews. The borders of this Jewish land have been published in map books for many, many years. Perhaps, as a suggested name, ARABSTINE would be an appropriate name?
38. Arabs Cannot Agree Among Themselves
emanon ,   USA   (11.29.12)
As expected, what one side proposes, the others disagree with. I saw this article on Arutz Sheva website stating "Hamas, Jihad in 'Mini-flipflop' Over Statehood Bid". How can these people govern a country when all they know is internal fighting? They can't even unite for the first principle of being a country: be a united people. If PA says one thing, Hamas, IJ and other factions reject it out of hand.
39. @31: All Of The Above
emanon ,   USA   (11.29.12)
They can't even arrive at a consensus to stand behind the current UN proceedings.
40. opinion
JG ,   Israel   (11.29.12)
I believe security, peace talks and every arregement between palestinians and israelies, is part ot the Israeli Prime Minister job, actually Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu and also is responsability of Mahmoud Abbas if Hamas fired rockets because Abbas is representing the Palestinian side. Maybe for a more efective peace talks among Israel and palestinians, israelt have to consider also the option of talks with Hamas. Shalom
41. #6 bob, that's propaganda. Learn basic facts!
Jake   (11.29.12)
1. When you tot up the numbers from ALL sources, you will find the palestinians get more aid per capita than any other people on Earth. 2. Time to end this falsehood once and for all that "the state Israel was formed by a UN vote." Fact check: The UN cannot create states. Go back and read the UN Partition Plan, UN General Assembly Resolution 181. It was a RECOMMENDATION for a 2-state solution...one which the Arabs rejected, and the British refused to implement it. The UN Security Council refused to adopt the Partition Plan, passing instead Resolution 44, which instructed the General Assembly to reconsider the question of Palestine. The General Assembly appointed a mediator, who drafted fresh proposals for resolving the issue, but these were rejected by both sides, and nothing came out of them. The Arabs invaded the fledgling Jewish State and lost, but then when the 1949 ceasefire lines were established at the conclusion of the 1948-49 war, the Arabs demanded that the ceasfire lines NOT be recognized as borders. Israel and the Arabs signed it, and the world accepted it, and that's how things stand. The Green Line is not an international boundary! When the UN finally accepted Israel as a member in 1949, it placed no conditionality on Israel to implement the Partition Plan (181) or a 2-state solution. Israel exists solely because it declared its indepedence and emerged from the War of Independence victorious. And that's despite the UN (including US) weapons embargo during the war, and the attempts by the UN to truncate Israel when it saw that Israel was winning the war.
42. #12 You've just dealt your last card.
Jake   (11.29.12)
The UN bid was the last card that "moderate" Abbas had to play. Go ahead and declare your "state", and find a magic carpet on which to build it. Abbas will never bring back PA rule to the Gaza Strip. And Israel is going to extend Israeli rule to Area C.
43. #16 It's not "their land". Israeli will simply annex Area C
Jake   (11.29.12)
where Israelis are numerous and palestinians are, in fact, few and far between.
44. When the pals has done this additional unilateral move..
Beary White ,   Norway   (11.29.12)
.. Israel could very well forget the oslo accord, and continue the fight with the pals, starting from the -67 armistic lines (there are no -67 borders...). That is; remove the pals from the WB and the strip. The civill pals will then be moved into Jordan which is their country, specially created like Pakistan. At the same time most of the hamasssss would love tobe helped in fuming the fire in hell, the rest could be helped to travel to Libya.
45. If the world declares Gaza and WB a state...
Naor ,   USA   (11.29.12)
That means Israel can now retaliate in the WB for rockets fired from Gaza. The world can not have it both ways. You can't declare an independent state and then not hold it responsible as a state actor. Any attack emanating from "Palestine" should be considered an act of war! No more kid gloves.
46. #19, No, Ruth, the PA was created to pay for that.
Jake   (11.29.12)
That's what the Oslo Accords were about: The establishment of the PA that would have civil authority and take charge of wiping its own bottom in the areas under its control (areas A and B).
47. #28, And while you're at it, return Malvinas to Argentina.
Jake   (11.29.12)
And that's just the beginning.
48. #17, No I don't think so.
Jake   (11.29.12)
The world has the time and money only to make meaningless votes...not to finance the building of another deadbeat state, or to give it land.
49. I don't see a down side IF...
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (11.29.12)
There's no down-side to "Palestine" the state & here's why: If they're recognized as a state, that means aggression from them is a de-facto declaration of war under international law. You all know those militant idiots can't help themselves when it comes to firing rockets into Israel. When that happens, Israel is justified under international law to retaliate. International law also states that the defender in a war of aggression is entitled to all lands won in the war. So, quite simply, "Palestine" fires a katusha, Israel pummels them to dust and annexes the entire West Bank & East Jerusalem. Then they dare Gaza to try the same thing. All Israel needs is a government with the cajones to actually act within its rights under international law.
50. #19, No Ruth, not since Oslo.
Jake   (11.29.12)
The PA was created and assigned civil authority to areas A and B, where 99% of the palestinians are living. It is responsible for providing services in those areas, and paying the bills..
51. Typical German perfidy
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.29.12)
Didn't they say they would vote against the resolution? Now they've been urged (shorthand for threatened) to abstain. Well, Germany does have a troublesome and violent Arab and Moslem minority, but their continuing moral obligation to the Jewish people and the State of Israel, should be of greater importance than Arabs and Moslems rioting in the streets of Berlin. So the United States and Israel stand, for the most part, alone. Looks like the ersatz "Palestine" Authority will have to come up with new sources of funding, because they're about to lose their two biggest bankrollers. Well, I'm sure the Sudan or Mali will step in to fill the void, right?
52. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.29.12)
I believe that Israelis actually know how to spell "Israel." You're a phony. Get lost.
53. To: No. 7
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.29.12)
Silly you. General Assembly resolutions are not binding and they are not enforceable. Good luck sending mail to "Palestine." It will never get there, because "Palestine" does not exist.
54. vacation in germany
mike ,   warsaw poland   (11.29.12)
please dont go to germany ! there are enough jews there - you better spend you holydays in gaza that would be much more fun for you
55. To Sarah B, No. 51
Gabe ,   Canada   (11.29.12)
Canada proudly stands with Israel.
56. To: Gabe at No. 55
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.29.12)
Of course. I am so sorry for the oversight.
57. To nr. 37.
Sjoerd van der Velde ,   Hoorn NH, Holland   (11.30.12)
Why has David Ben-Gurion established the state of Israel in 1948 as the land of the Jews? Before that it was the British mandate of Palestine, was not it?
