Why special treatment for Jews? Why Romanians who were expropriated by the communist regime (among whose rulers were people like Ana Pauker, Iosif Chisinevschi, etc., etc.) should be treated differently than the Jews who were expropriated by the Romanian Fascist (and Communist) regimes?

It is a racist term used by fascists during Holocaust. It is legally termed un - acceptable and is treated by ciminal code. But aside from moral failure to use racial slure the bigger trouble is this suppose to be a place of at least nominally enlightened people who at least try to appear as looking for a community welfare. Th attitude of Hungary towards restitution of real estate property taken during the period of holocaust , and nationalized during the communist regime is both hypocritical and deplorable. Partial restitution was offered after the change of regime in the 1990's whose extent amounted to a negligible portion of the value of these properties. Unfortunately, this amounted to the virtual nationalization of these assets. The innate antisemitism of the Hungarian people, and its right wing nationalistic government is unlikely to take corrective action. Hungary has not faced its responsibility for the silent cooperation of its people in the murder of 500,000 of its Jewish residents

Although I support of reasonable return or creating means of compensation for Jewish property in post communist countries I also agree the same effort should be given to confiscated Arab property in Israel. Pretending that that property was "abandoned" is as rediculous as some claims that Jewish nationals in Germany/E.Europe left their property "voluntarily" between 1933-45. Such double standard approach by the Israeli Government is not lost on educated world community
