I'm happy with them. I know when they close the door, I'm landing at Ben Gurion. Plus, last year I had a hysterically funny conversation with one of the crew when several hours into the flight I looked out the window and saw the whole landscape lit up with lights when we should have been out over the ocean. He was very funny.
2. Good service, if you're a masochist.
Yisrael ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.02.12)
I was taken into a room and asked to pull down my pants before boarding the plane. This was after going through the body scanner and cleared by the TSA at Newark Airport.
3. El Al to number 1- Are you sure that
Ameridane ,   Aarhus, Denmark   (12.02.12)
El Al cabin crew didn't feed you with "Marihuana cake? instead of a meal? In my book El Al ranks as number 2 -lousiest air line in the world, only outranked by Ryan Air.
4. Pleased with El Al
American Hindu ,   USA   (12.03.12)
I have traveled only once by El Al on a visit to Israel. I was impressed by the service and by the energetic young crew members. The service was excellent and the rest rooms were clean. Good Luck to El Al!

I'm not so sure that getting cleared by TSA is a gold standard for security...I can say that on my first trip to Israel I came by myself for my first week and had scheduled some Bikkur Cholim visits. When I went to leave Israel, I got pulled out of line and got quite the grilling on being in the country by myself that first week, what my interest was with disabled or wounded soldiers. It was pretty intense but I didn't mind. I answered straightforwardly, was able to produce the business cards of the physicians and staff of the hospitals I had visited, etc. I didn't feel offended, just that they were doing their jobs. As for the Marihuana cake, I don't think so!!! Hey, I've flown on small commuter airlines in Pennsylvania. I know what bad is!!!!!
6. Flying EL AL since 1962

well, news for you...apparently you are wrong because it is one of the best airlines ever. number 17th out of all existing airlines is a wonderful score. so, maybe you and your opinion don't count?

I have flown many times to Israel from London and have no complaints .I even sent my son age 16 on his own on his first flight alone and he was really looked after and cared for . A great airline.
10. they have got their act together but still faults
zionist forever   (12.03.12)
In recen years they have actually got pretty good on some routes. if you prebook online you can choose seats and meal types, they have a fair selection and even the standard meals are better than the traditional chicken or beef. If your a member of their Maitmed club you get a larger luggage allowance than is standard and even then if your overweight as long as its not drastically overweight they say nothing. Unless your on a big plane because your traveling to a main airport rather than one of the smaller ones things like movies are terrible because its still old fashioned big screen for movies which you can only see if your close enough. These days people expect setback screens as standard. Security can sometimes go on a power trip. I one time in the UK on the way back to Israel security was a nightmare, I had both a British and Israeli passport, I was able to speak hebrew, I was able to answer just about every question they answered although when they asked which was the latest festival I got that wrong. So they took my hand luggage said it was going into the hold, I had a laptop in there they promised to put it in bubble wrap which they didn't and it had a small dent in the come. I was told to go to the gate at a certain time where they took me into the back searched me ( had to take off my pants and all ), got more questioning then I was taken aboard the plane to my seat by one of the staff. I did give them hell afterwards and exchanged emails and had phones calls with the people in charge who tried to argue security were allowed to do what they want but I didn't let them get away with that excuse and got a free flight out of it in which I was treated great by security and stewardesses. On the whole though I have never had any trouble with security so think this fiasco was probably a one off. So they defiantly have their faults still but they are getting a lot better and their prices are much more reasonable than they once were. One thing I would like to know though and that is no matter what airline you fly they all sell that disgusting Tolblorone at duty free.
11. can somebody please explain
zionist forever   (12.03.12)
Why is it on just about every airline you travel they sell duty free Tolborone? Its got to be the most disgusting chocolate you can be unfortunate to taste but all the airlines sell the stuff WHY?
