And are party to a hot conflict over vast landmass where the attacker spans very large set of people across nations and continnents motivated by hate of Israel. The adventure of getting in such conflict for UN as an arbiter of who wins and who looses is a serious gamble that undermines UN standing as a law bound organization and turns it into a bias bound organization. And that in turn spells out trouble for its relevance, credibility, and existence.

I don't understand. A person (e.g., Abbas) is denying the 'existence' of the state of Israel - against the UN resolution of 1947. Despite that, the UN is 'upgrading' its status? Where is the UN now when Israel is bombarded like that? The UN supported Assad blindly, when he was causing all those issues in the North of Israel. Where is the UN now? This is super predictable: as long as the UN is acting like that, why would Abbas or Hamas start talking to Israel? They can do whatever they like, and still get 'praised' by the UN. Salma should also know the PA has been collecting financial support from Europe and the US which in totality exceeds the money all of Europe got under the Marhall Plan in order to rebuild after WWll.
