1. Rabin, Area E1 and Arab Safari Rhetoric
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (12.03.12)
Borrowed (with permission) from a friend: In 1994, Rabin incorporated the 6 sq. mile E1 area into the city of Maaleh Adumim, pop. 40,000. That was before the Oslo Accords. In other words, Arafat signed the agreement that EXCLUDED E1 from any future state of Palestein. By announcing commencement of building in E1, the Israeli government is exercising its legal right to expand into empty territory DISCARDED by the PA in 1995. Furthermore, building in E1 will NOT cut off Judea from Samaria. To the East of Maaleh Adumim, there is a 10km wide swath of land that connects the North to the South (not much narrower than the swath between Tulkarm and Netanya by the sea in sovereign Israeli territory. This is the same rhetoric used by the PA when they whined about the Hurva Synagogue construction undermining the Al Aksa mosque's foundations although the two structures are half a kilometer from one another. Since the PA does not have history on its side, it creates plausible myths which are easily acceptable to the ignorant masses. However, 1. Area E1 was signed off to Israel by Arafat in the Oslo Accords. 2. Construction in E1 will NOT cut off access to any land where Arabs reside. 3. All Israeli governments since Rabin have held off building in E1 to avoid situations just like this, wherein the PA whines about made up rules that EU governments are too lazy or spiteful to bother researching. 4. Enough is enough. France, Germany, UK - Grow a pair and stand up to the lies that today are undermining the Saturday people, but tomorrow will come for the Sunday people.
2. RUBBISH. Not recognising Israel is the problem
NudNik69   (12.03.12)
3. What 2 State Solution
Dan ,   Florida - Tel Aviv   (12.03.12)
What made the USA great was that it recognized reality and acted appropriately. In Korea politicians overruled Field Generals and thought they were smart enough for a "political" solution. That failed as well. Then in Vietnam the French snookered Eisenhower and we lost that war. Westmoreland never recognized the reality of the situation. Now along comes Obama who still hold the fantasy of a 2 state solution on Israeli land. JORDAN is the Palestinian state and Israel should keep building out.
4. Stop talking build already
Nachman   (12.03.12)
The world does not like sissys this land belongs to Israel the believing world certainly appreciates this. Go ahead and build. It will be good for the country and good for the Likud.
5. NO.....YOU DON'T SAY
CAPTIAN OBVIOUS ,   SAFED OPERA CENTRE   (12.03.12)
6. Israel responds better to terror
(12.03.12)
When Hamas attacks Israel with missiles, the Israeli Government provides the terrorist with concessions on more land for farming and water for fishing etc. When Fatah peacefully goes to the UN to request observer status, Israel punishes them. I think the State of Israel has sent a very clear message this time as to what type of resistance works and achieves the desired results in the Middle East.
7. Lets Be Honest,Jordan is Palestinian
Noah Lev ,   LosangeleUSA   (12.03.12)
Its obvious to everyone that Israel's backing down these past decades, over similar announced undertakins Z(which take years to complete) and its attempt toavoid irritating its benefactor (the USA), has allowed these problemjs to fester. Assuming the Arabs are simply telling fairy stoes ( 40 Thieves), why belabor this latest? Israel's spokespersonsshouldjusttell the truth,.,.andlet the chipsfall. Israels pluralistic and divided people are not helping, one vs the other. The 3000 units are minor compared to the UN bidlast week, which negated every agreement, involving over 500t people. Israel should proceed, but apts must only be the first tactic. Annexing area C is okay if the Pales are relocated to the real Palestine, Jordan.
8. Israel a rogue state
Cephas Keith Reyes ,   Burnaby, Canada   (12.03.12)
Israel; a rogue state Israel's defiance of the international community in pursuing its illegal settlement activities is a reflection of the US unconditional support for its escalating atrocities against the Palestinian people. By equipping Israel with the most sophisticated nuclear arsenal, the US has created and uncontrollable monster in Israel. Israel has become a rogue state. The US must decide whether the price is too high for securing the services of Israel as its eyes and ears in the Middle East.
9. Can someone please explain why.....
John Phee ,   Sydney AUSTRALIA   (12.03.12)
For 60 odd years no one internationally recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital & still don't but they are falling over themselves wanting to recognise part of Jerusalem as a "Palestinian" capital.
10. New housing in Israel
CYLA ,   woodmere, USA   (12.03.12)
Israel has to be strong becaus is suranded with nations who want to destroy Israel. New housing is very important to Israel and "two countries for two nations" sounds rediculus. Arab countries don't need piece, they need to destroy Israel, this is their goal.So Israel should go ahead and build new housing, without lookind back.
11. Build, build, build!
john ,   usa   (12.03.12)
I'm embarrassed by my own governments anti-Israel actions. They are on the side of the jihadists. Build, build, build! France and the rest can go take a hike!
12. One country for humans, the rest go back to US.
Ken ,   Burma at peace   (12.03.12)
13. No Jews allowed in Pali state??
Au. ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.03.12)
I don't understand - are Jews not allowed to live in "Palestinian state"? Why? Is that supposed to be some ethnically clean state? If it is - should Israel forbid Palis to live in Israel too? Really...
14. Why should Israel care?
Amerikaner Yid ,   USA   (12.03.12)
"Britain, France, Spain, Sweden and Denmark" Everyone on the list after Britain voted for the change of PA's status. And Britain had to be persuaded to, please, not join the others. I hope Israeli ambassadors explained that next time, these governments should realize that their actions have consequences too.
15. There will NEVER by a Two-State "Solution."
marat ,   ottawa, canada   (12.03.12)
The ONLY "Solution" that the Arabs want is the "Solution" of Israel's Annihilation. YOUR DEATH is their ONLY goal. Keep this in the forefront of your mind, Israel because THIS is the Truth, not the blabber from the EU rabble who would love for you to disappear as well.
16. No compromise, no pressure
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (12.03.12)
As is clear to the politically repulsed, if they know they can't pressure you, they won't. Israel's be mistake over the years. Let them pressure the Islamic, murderers and liars, which they are scared of.
17. Hollande, France
Robyn ,   Montreal   (12.03.12)
Hollande"s statement that Israeli construction in Jerusalem etc was contrary to peace making. He should have thought of that BEFORE voting to upgrade tha PA to an observer status at the UN. I just hope Bibi keeps his word and actually builds .
18. time to annex samaria ....
Galut ia ,   Selah   (12.03.12)
....and give the Palestinians the opportunity to become a citizen of israel or go to Jordan or Gaza
19. Play a constructive role, Clinton
mindRider ,   The World of Truth   (12.03.12)
Well Israel is just announcing exactly this what she requests: Nothing can be more constructive than the construction of houses for Jews in the Jewish heartland. Europe should have foreseen that their voting against previously made legal agreements & charters of the UN in voting for the Palirabian mirage would bear consequences.
20. Israel 'complicating peace efforts??
tiki ,   belgium   (12.03.12)
Not the Hamas rockets, not the Hezbollah rockets, not the Arab/Palestinian hate speeches, not the incitement, not the curriculum poisoning children's minds, not the nuclear threats, not the refusal to talk about peace, etc.etc.etc.? No, Israel is complicating peace efforts! How can you even think it, without blushing? Who are the morons making these assumptions? Always making the wrong judgement and blaming the patient for getting ill. Who are these so called 'leaders? I wouldn't hire them as a doorman because of their untrustworthy & irresponsable behaviour!
21. IsraĆ«l is not your colony
basri ,   paris france   (12.03.12)
The attack against Gaza was stopped in good time and good way. Obama had satisfaction. Now, our round of the war against terrorists is to build where we want and when whe want. And nobody can stop us. Our power is in our intention. May be it is written...
22. So many complications
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (12.03.12)
I suppose that firing missiles at millions of Israeli civilians doesn't complicate peace efforts. I suppose that Abbas refusing to negotiate doesn't complicate peace efforts. I suppose that the PA unilaterally negating the Oslo Accords doesn't complicate peace efforts. I suppose that Obama giving the PA unrealistic expectations doesn't complicate peace efforts. Obama stopped being an honest broker a long time ago,if he ever was one, which I doubt. How can this culturally Islamic Christian be trusted any more than Hanan Ashrawi? THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
23. Are you kiding
What   (12.03.12)
Are you kidding?? We get missiles. We get buses bombed. We get terror. We give back miles of land. We remove Jews frOm there homes. And on and on.....and Israel may be disrupting the peace? And let's not forget the PLO went to UN. Against the agreement
24. The two State solution died but denied ..
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (12.03.12)
Every diplomat has known for several years that the two State solution died but they keep pretending otherwise, as do journalists. Israel is nowhere near capable of removing all the Israelis presently living in the West Bank. 9,000 Israelis were uprooted from Gaza and it was the biggest Army operation since the Yom Kippur war and it took 10 days. 500,000+ Israelis (settlers) live in the West Bank, so who could evacuate them? Abbas doesn't want Jews in his New State so he must obviously consider the West Bank out of the question.
25. #1 - the two State solution died years ago ..

27. Greater Land Swap
Zivron   (12.03.12)
A greater land swap for a Palestinian state with Palestinians in Israel having a free choice to be part of with incentives circumvents this security measure .No way can the Jews allow Arab Jihadi and Anti Jewish nationalists cross the Jordan river into a Palestinian state.A Palestinian state can have Palestinians that have the capacity to live in peace with their neighbours as indicated in the principle of resolution 181 in 1949.Jewish Security needs to be assured for centuries .
28. what peace efforts are we complicating
zionist forever   (12.03.12)
Seven years of rocket attacks from Gaza Three years of trying to talk to Abbas Three years of excuses to avoid talking. Abbas going to the UN knowing it would only complicate things especially as that little stunt was expressly forbidden by oslo Thats a great peace process, I wonder how Olmert would have handled it. So now we want to build 3000 homes in the countries capital and its complicating peace efforts because Abbas who Olmert & western leaders see as the arab Gahndi wants to be the capital of his state. If the State Department is so desperate to get involved in Middle East affairs worry about Syria, 40,000 dead is alot more serious that 3000 homes
29. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.04.12)
The settlements are not illegal. Israel reacquired non-sovereign Judea and Samaria in the course of fighting a defensive war against Jordan. The land is Israel's to settle, retain and even annex. That's black-letter law.
30. BB does not understand threats
Bibolog ,   IL   (12.04.12)
He does understands sunctions, the same as he demands on Iran.
