31. who will take him up on offer?
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (12.24.12)
The only people who will get money are the super-ultra-Orthodox in Mea Sharim who don't work or vote. The rest of the religious world will vote either for Shas or Agudah-Yahdudut or ?. The lefties will not be able to get money since Satmar would never give them money not to vote. So who will they convince not to vote? Just the schmucks that walk around Meah Shariim in striped long coats snoring money on the street corners. Big deal, they would not vote anyway, they are anti zionists.
32. This is legal here?
Janice ,   Haifa   (12.24.12)
It's certainly morally repugnant, but it doesn't surprise me coming from Satmarers.
33. #11 Your guy got his (I) kicked, get over it, you lost.
miki ,   tampa   (12.24.12)
34. Besides being despicable creatures at least they're honest!
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.24.12)
Money is the name of this game
35. Money and Religion
TC   (12.24.12)
Do we need to add anything?
36. The land of the Torah? What Torah?
(12.24.12)
What Torah are you talking about? Is it the same Torah that obligates every single Jew to keep Shabbat, eat kosher, every single Jewish man to wear tefillin? Satmar prefers religious Jews to live among true religious holy Jews rather than among Jews who are out to secularize religious Jews. That's what Satmar is worried about with this secular G-dless government who have nothing to do with G-d's Torah.
37. My friends and I will not vote
(12.24.12)
before we get to vote for a judge in this so-called democratic country. It's these self-appointed high court judges running the show in any case, so what's the use of this election? Might as well get some money from Satmar.
38. Law breaker should be prevented from taking flight
(12.24.12)
If the man, rabbi , atheist , or whatever is either a foreign national or Israeli, he should be p[prevented from flying and boarding a plane to Israel as an undesirable likely to break the law and disturb the peace . All persons Satmar , or whatever persuasion sect , or political extremists who try and destroy the Israeli States democratic system should be prevented from their actions as highly undesirable. If they dont like Israel stay in America , they are not welcome unless they obey the law of the Land
39. Not the Rebbe
Shlecht ,   NYC U.S.   (12.24.12)
There are two Satmar rebbes and neither is named Yekutiel Yehuda. SO if this story is true, it's not the Satmar rebbe that's coming.
40. Satmar Hasidim
Yitzchak ,   Florida   (12.24.12)
Israel would be better off keeping the migrant Africans who want to live in Israel and deport these Satmar ingrates.
41. Foolish Waste
Sven ,   San Diego, CA   (12.24.12)
Here we have an example of actions that can easily perpetuate anti-Semitism. 1: Jews are rich. 2: Jews are powerful enough to take Senators along for something that has nothing to do with the United States. 3: Jews only care about money. 4: Jews would rather waste money than help the poor. I don't believe any of the above, but I believe the Satmar Rebbe is a damned fool. And his actions could lead others to think some of the above statements.
42. Does not compute
Sean ,   Phoenix   (12.24.12)
I don't understand anti-Zionist religious zealots. They are obsessed with the Holy Land and returning to it, so it is all the more confusing why they are ungrateful when they have a chance to return. The fact that Israel's (semi) secular government established the state as opposed to a Messiah magically zapping them into Israel doesn't seem a sufficient reason for them to be overtly hostile. Then again, I'm not a Satmar Jew so I wouldn't understand.
43. Goim!
Phoenix ,   Israel   (12.24.12)
Satmar are Goim sons of Goim. They have shown their hate for the real Jews and Israel.
44. offering money to induce a religious change of heart?
Bluegrass Picker ,   Afula   (12.24.12)
That's a crime in this country.
45. There are worse things
Taxpayer ,   Hod Hasharon   (12.25.12)
Apart from the money laundering "rabbi" if the Satmars are even Jewish - what is far worse is the plane loads of Averechim coming in to vote - they need to be checked at the airport and sent of to TelHashomer to be inducted into the IDF for three years.
46. Who are the Senators?
NYC Girl   (12.25.12)
American voters have a right to know the identity of the politicians who are accompanying these retrograde religious fanatics and serving as "human shields" to prevent the possible intervention of the authorities in Israel.
47. I would like a refund from the Satmar "rebbe"
P'd off yid ,   South of tel aviv-Is   (12.25.12)
I would like a refund from this clown for all the ridiculous taxes I have to pay so that he and his cronies in Bnei Brak can sit in their yeshivas all day, not work, not serve, and contribute nothing to society. However that would be much more than a measly $100. These guys and all the other looney anti zionist haredim have nothing to do with G-d or Torah. They pick and choose the mitzvot they are comfortable with performing so they are no better than the chilonim that they constantly point their fingers at. HKBH told you no less than 86 times in the Torah to settle the Land. Your phoney and pathetic rabbis have no right to pervert the word of G-d.
48. sitmar and money
Ralph ,   Rishon   (12.25.12)
Firstly he should be stopped at the security gates and the US airport and proscribed persona non grata. Secondly he should be arrested by the US authorities for trying to leave the country with so much cash. Thirdly if by chance he does reach Israel then he should be arrested here fior the same too reasons. Fourthly and perhaps most importantly. According to the halacha a religious Jew is forbidden to leave Eretz Yisrael, (remember the Lubavicher Rebbe) so does that mean that he will then be staying permanently here, so will he bend the halacha as he see fit.
49. Satmar machinations
Dan S.   (12.25.12)
LOL... Let them come with their money. And then seize it upon arrival. Arrest everyone on charges of treason and sedition. The Satmar synagogue should be leveled and the land used for housing for young (working) couples. I have a proposal.. How about Israel pay each one of this Satmar scum NIS 10 to go to Gaza. Once they had arrived at the border, the NIS10 would be confiscated to pay back the "transportation and deportation" costs. Same thing with that Teitelbaum.. His bag of money would be seized and he would be charged a further $10 million to pay for his own prosecution, along with a $1 million administrative fee. Upon payment of these, he would be offered transport to Gaza for an additional $20 million along with a similarly inflated transport cost. He can pay this or else there is a bunch of Negev desert he could dig his own grave in. Either way he wouldn't get very far.
50. Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Teitelbaum...
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (12.25.12)
Was murdered in Auschwitz on May 18, 1944. The name is obviously being used as a cover for the rabbi who is coming to Israel, in order to make it more difficult to apprehend him. I seriously doubt that either of the Teitelbaums will be coming, it will be someone of a lesser rank who won't attract as much publicity as either of those two. Whoever it is, I hope the arrest him in the act of distributing money to affect an election-- then there'sll be no question of the man's having broken Israeli (and US) law.
51. SATMAR bribes
rut ,   karmiel Israel   (12.25.12)
This is disgusting!!!
52. It's time for the Satmar Chassidim
Reuven   (12.25.12)
to support Israel.
53. To #50 and also to #20
Alex   (12.25.12)
As far as I know Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum went with the Kastner train, ended first up in Bergen-Belsen and then mananged to get to Switzerland. Furthermore, #20 wanted to let the Satmars go back to Poland...Ehum, their orgins are Hungary as far as I know.
54. So in other words...
Golani ,   Vineland, USA/Israel   (12.25.12)
So in other words, the Satmar sect or cult should be listed as an anti-Semetic cult and treated as such. Are they trying to take away our democratic right to vote? What is it that these evil offenders of the Jewish religion want. By the way, I myself and Orthodox..and a Zionist...
55. #10 - it's not illegal to carry more than $10,000
William ,   Israel   (12.26.12)
But you are required to register it with the customs authorities ahead of time.
56. #30 - Obama passed out phones in the US
William ,   Israel   (12.26.12)
This Satmar is an American citizen trying to affect the outcome of a foreign nation through bribes, and with the aid of US (democrat) Senators. That's a major violation of sovereignty, is illegal in both countries, and nothing like the Democrat's domestic action to "buy" votes.
57. @ Alex - #53:
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (12.26.12)
Did you actually read the article? It doesn't mention Rabbi JOEL Teitelbaum at all, but it does mention Rabbi YEKUTIEL YEHUDA Teitelbaum (who was murdered at Auschwitz), who was the nephew of Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum (who was not murdered at Auschwitz). Reading the entire article before sending a talkback can be enlightening, don't you think?
58. To 57 # Davison
Alex   (12.27.12)
I read the whole article. What is the problem? You claim that the name "Yekutiel Yehuda Teitelbaum" is used as a "cover" ? Well either that really is his name OR Ynet wrote the wrong name. In either case, no "cover". Please keep your conspiration theories for yourself
59. nice, how about
Macunaima ,   Brasil   (12.27.12)
Israelis abroad? How can I get this money?
60. blessed baksheesh
Someone   (12.28.12)
