1. NBC only cited Hagel's 2008 Gay remark,
Jersey Jew ,   New Jersey, USA   (12.30.12)
not the clearly key opposition to Chuck Hagel's strong positions of no Israel settlements/occupation and not smart to bomb Iran. Curious, eh? For transparent credibility, let's always air our true issues, not always deflect ...
2. Follow through, Obama
Giora Me'ir ,   USA   (12.30.12)
Don't turn into an invertebrate again. Appoint Hagel. Netanyahu is about to diss you again with the choice of Dermer. Appoint Hagel.
3. any jew or republican who supports this nomination is wrong.

4. Chuck Hagel
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (12.30.12)
At last! A Cabinet Secretary who will move America to the right side in the battle to erase Zionism and free Palestine! He is realist who knows on what side America's bread is buttered.
5. Pat Buchanan.."Nominate him, Mr. President. Let’s get it on"
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (12.30.12)
6. Headline is wrong. Obama just being diplomatic
GZLives   (12.30.12)
Obama described Hegal like he would have described any colleague - nothing revealing and nothing hinting Hagel would ultimately be nominated. But Hagel shouldn't be nominated not because of his Meast views, but because of his ownership of ES&S electronic voting machines which were very controversial in the 1990's regarding election rigging. Even Hagel's first election - his Senate win was described as a "surprise landslide" when he finished witha surprising 15 point lead that pollsters completely missed - or did they? Hagel's ES&S machines counted those votes. Hegal also lied to the Senate Ethic Committee when he left off his ownership of that company. Oversight? Perhaps. He still owns a large percentage. And then there was his remark about a gay nominee for ambassador to Luxembourg. Why would Democrats be so excited to support this ex disc jockey when he's a favorite of Karl Rove and was on the short list for Bush's VP? It seems as long as they believe Hagel is anti Israel - Democrats have given him their stamp of approval - exactly what they accuse those against Hagel of doing. Hagel should not be nominated because he's a dishonest deceitful politician who may have rigged his own election and hundreds of others
7. #2 Why stop there?
Logic ,   Israel   (12.30.12)
How about Pat Buchanan as special envoy to Israel? May I suggest Louis Farrakan as Chief UN Inspector of the Iranian nuclear sites? Don't forget about appointing cultural tolerance experts David Duke and Al Sharpton for key posts too.
8. Chuck Hagel & Obama .Exactly
rays ,   USA   (12.30.12)
Two birds of a feather. Of course Obama would like him. They share a hate of Israe and a desire toi slash US defen se. Not to mention they both are weak on Iran AND on terrorism. Two enemies of Western civilization.
9. Hagel Would Send A Clear Message To the Israeli Government
World Citizen ,   the world   (12.30.12)
Unquestioned support by the USA of Israel's strategic foreign policy objectives has to stop for the sake of the United States and Israel too. The Israeli government is painting itself into a dark corner. If it continues Israel will see diplomatic and economic sanctions within five years. It's almost the very last day of 2012. Mark my words. Keep going on the present course and in 2017 the people of Israel will sadly reflect on the chances they were given and wisdom they rejected.
10. The old adage rings true
Tom W ,   USA   (12.30.12)
American far leftist Jews pushed so hard for Obama that in the end they ended up with Hagel: an antisemitic, discarded Republican. "When the left meets right" (Commentary magazine article). Also "Horseshoe Theory": extreme left and the extreme right are a lot more similar than members of either group would admit. (Wiki)
11. 10@100% agree with you
dovdevan ,   ashdod,paris   (12.30.12)
the time of the democratic party of their father and grand father is dead ! this party is being hyjacked by extreme left militant and american jews will be bear a great responsability if that kind of anti semite like hagel is appointed

13. Obama should also look for Israel's interest in nomination.
Jouko ,   Finland   (12.30.12)
Because that is how America will benefit most!
14. Hagel?
Anshel ,   Canada   (12.30.12)
There is fat chance that Hagel will get the confirmation votes in the Senate. Obama will not nominate him at the end, it will be a repeat of Susan Rice fiasco. It is interesting how the anti Semites and self hating Jews are rejoicing a prospect of Hagel nomination. Very irrational thinking. They don't seem to care that the man is willing to hurt the interest of USA, as long he is perceived to be seen as anti Israeli and anti Netanyahu.
15. who cares if he served in Vietnam
k ,   US   (12.30.12)
is that his only lay to claim? Vietnam was a garbage war, a war in which Jews were criticized for opposing, and it turned out they should have been listened to

17. Hagel says it as it is...
Seth ,   Oklahoma   (12.31.12)
Israeli's policies in the middle east hurts America's interest. It's time for America to stand up for Amrica's interest.
18. Abrahamic Faiths
Zecharia   (12.31.12)
The Abrahamic Faiths have Contributed enormously to the USA superstate status in Military Power Medical Developments Technological Innovation and the Economy. Hagels Perspective is unbalanced .
19. hagel will also be bent to serve Israel's interests
razors ,   clapham, uk   (12.31.12)
20. a provocative nomination
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Zion   (12.31.12)
hagel is outside the mainstream on iran, israel and generally on the middle east. hagel's nomination would cement obama's reputation as a provocateur of the far left.
21. I hope the Repubs WILL make the mistake of refusing to...
Persian CAT   (12.31.12)
confirm a fellow-Repub. This will put them as odds with all those Americans who feel insulted by the AIPAC and other Likudniks for putting Israeli interests ahead of the US by trying put the US officials under undue pressure. The American people are watching.

Please explain with specifics, not overly general statements, how Israel’s policies hurt America’s interests. Which policies? Is it the policy of not giving into terrorism? Is it the policy of calling the arabs on their revisionist history? Is it Israel’s rejection of the arabs end run to the UN, to get their state without true negotiations. Is it the policy of defending themselves, while trying not to hit civilians? Is it the policy of returning fire at Hamas, even though Hamas hides behind and among its own? Maybe it’s time for the US to adopt some of Israel’s policies, as they seem to be in the interests of the US.
25. #17.Seth: Please elucidate us
Tom W ,   USA   (12.31.12)
What's is America interest in the ME? Support for the Muslim Brotherhood? Assad & Iran? - both are in Russia's camp, too late, bro. A weakened Israel and the Islamic Caliphate is America's interest? Your demigod Obama swooned with joy at Islam in Cairo...and Islamist hate him more than ever. Be honest: you just hate the Jews and adore Islamofascism. Drop the big words, bro.

Birdi of Israel, when America enables a country who has displaced 750000 Palestinians, including 80000 Christians, the middle stands up and takes note. One of the prime reasons that motivated those hijackers on 9/11 to attack us. As long as America is seen as being the protector of the racist regime of Israel with its aid and political protection in the world arena, we will have these terrorist paint a bulls eye right at our backs. You see America can't just hide behind walls like the Israelis do and hunker down, we have a large footprint in the world with a large population we can not protect. If your so sure you can go it alone go for it. Most Americans would love to take away that aid and world political protection we give you and walk away.

Hamas has stated their goal is to kill the Jews. They, Hezbollah, and the PA want to wipe out Israel. They insist that Israel let their people live in Israel, while also insisting that whatever land they have will be judenrien. They kill gays and are chasing out many of the Christians. Israeli arabs vote, are represented in government, and go to the same hospitals that Jews go to, to be treated by the same Jewish and arab doctors that treat Jews. The same can be said of gays, Christians, etc. Who is racist? Hint: it ain't the Jews. And you are saying that the killing of US Marines and French soldiers was because of Israel? You are saying that pogroms throughout history, most recently in the late 1800's and early 1900's was because of Israel, even though they happened before modern Israel was even thought of? Terrorists target us because we are Americans, who believe in freedom of religion for all, etc. Israel is the same (see above). Latest polls show that over 70% of Americans support Israel. You ignore facts; your blindness is overwhelming. You and seth are two shriveled peas in a rotting pod.
