31. 24 Runner 1983, USA: Aw come on, you know the ONLY thing
Rivkah   (01.06.13)
on the male mind 24/7 except for sleeping and eating and working or studying is sexual thoughts. Even when working and studying the male mind wanders into sexual thoughts. The male mind even is provocative sexually while sleeping as witnessed by wet dreams and semenal ejections and a mess on the sheets while sleeping. GIRLS should be put into the proximity of such vile minds without a marriage license or family tie or a purpose that is godly ? SEPARATE the boys and girls in schools to protect the girls' and the boys' chastity. They can have lots of time to talk after they have an arranged marriage. Haven't you seen "Fidler on the Roof", the movie? The song "Do You Love Me, Do I What?" tells you the time to be co-ed is after marriage. That is when you develop the social skills of the woman screaming and the man balking but remaining together forever during their lifetimes for the sake of the children and because God hates divorce. The glib talkers are rarely virtuous. They are seducers who will abandon their own for someone else. What the point in social skills? I have seen the most beautiful socially skilled, sweet natured women with lots of feminine skills and children who are abandoned by their husbands because the first marriage was not arranged by a yenta who puts together people who love and obey the Lord not the world and Satan.
32. There are some important factors in some of the guidelines
Rivkah   (01.06.13)
Shoulder length hair attracts fallen angels and males who are demon possessed. Longer hair is a woman's glory to YHWH, but not to Satan. Satan likes shoulder length hair. The wider skirt material at the knees enables the woman or girl to run if there is danger. Long hair is the covering for the woman, Rabbi Yeshua of Nazareth said. What is the covering for the male? It is Yahweh-Yeshua while the male is the covering for the woman (male father or husband or guardian) along with her long hair. The dark colors reflect a mourning for the Temple in Jerusalem for many Jews. It is a mourning color as is gray. But Rabbi Yeshua wore a white linen garment woven without seems. When he returns as the Lion of Judah, he will have a red mantle over his garment which signified he was murdered. Wearing red has a meaning. It can signify harlotry in some cultures or being murdered in others or pride as it did among the ancient Edomites.
33. he has a wife

34. 24 Are you suggesting that there is..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.06.13)
same kind of child abuse in the secular society?
35. This reminds me of my mom's visit to Israel
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (01.06.13)
and my daughter was 1.5 yrs old. We were at hotel pool, and daughter entered pool naked. Wow, did my mom make a fuss - "you need to put a bathing suit on her - tsk, tsk." Well, she was from an orthodox background.
36. Rav Aviner rules ?
HS ,   Brooklyn   (01.06.13)
These are simply the basic halachas -laws- of modesty prescibed by the torah and willed by HaShem... It is beautiful that the Rabbi adheres so strictly to the halachic rulings and encourages all to follow.... And all education begins at a young age .. Does a non religious allow his child to cheat and steal because he is only 3 ? Dont we say talk nicely my child? you just dont like the rules !
37. surprise
freeda ,   uk   (01.06.13)
for someone who gives out permissions for abortions at the drop of a hat, this new publication (which by the way reads like Leonardo da Vinci's 'Notes' guiding the new student) is most surprising and yes abit pervy
38. #36 - Where in the Torah
Ben ,   Chutzlaaretz   (01.06.13)
Though I would agree with you that I wouldn't let me 3 year old steal, please do educate us all, where in the Torah does it say a woman must cover every bit of her skin? Where are these so called laws willed by HaShem in the Torah? They ARE NOT, these are your Rabbi's chumrot! utter and ridiculous nonsense that turns Jews away from our faith.
39. #17 Rape is a crime of violence
Hannah ,   NZ   (01.07.13)
In NZ a 61 year old woman working in a community garden was brutally raped by a 22 year old man. As a native born ( jewish) Kiwi I can tell you she was unlikely to look like a supermodel if typical of other Kiwis her age. By all means dress modestly; it's a good thing. But men also need to control their urges. Judaism is all about self discipline and control of the base instint
40. Leniancy
Zechariah   (01.07.13)
Not so tight jeans ought be allowed .
41. 40 denier stockings
european   (01.07.13)
so these men, or shall we say, males, find 3-year-olds attractive? you people are so doomed.
42. @Maya Cohen: this isn't about tsniyut
Sharon ,   NYC, USA   (01.07.13)
Please understand: The men who advocate covering women more and more are not better men, or more pious men--whether they are Jewish, Muslim, Mormon, Catholic, or whatever. The patterns are the same no matter what the religion, and the justifications are the same, too. They pretend this is about greater respect for women, but it's not: this is about controlling and effectively erasing women. These are the same men that prevent women from complaining about violence or rape, who insist that women's money must be controlled along with their bodies because freedom is too dangerous. This is about power and fear. Anyway, imagine what kind of monster this Aviner must be if he's afraid he can't control himself with a three year-old.
43. Nothing, absolutely nothing a sane, secular person could
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.07.13)
think of to ridicule the cult of Imaginary Friend can top it's own imaginative "thinking". When reading the TBs supporting, explaining the rightousness of such a decree one has a sinking feeling deep inside: Human race seems lost forever, drenched in medieval, primitively basic world-view. Men's (Man's) inability to come to terms with sexuality gives birth to pseudo-philosophical prejudice and blatant oppression of (how surprising) women. It is most common in religions that spring from the cult of "Desert God" that Judaism gave to the world. And to think, that we falsely pat ourselves on the back for "presenting" the human race with only ONE god! Ha............
44. Well said no. 42, 5 & 15.
Jew1 ,   Ashdod   (01.07.13)
45. Every woman and man should speak for themselves
Keren ,   IL-BR   (01.07.13)
Every woman and man should speak(and think) for themselves. What´s the difference between when you wear a provocative blouse or a tight pant (both man and woman)or when you wear modestly? Why should women and men be moving provokers 24/7? What´s the use in that other than turn the society into a corrupted and perverted realm? I don´t mean to be rude, but there was a time when such a way of dressing was reserved to prostitutes and prostitutes use to be only women, not like nowadays when also men have that "job"or wear like if they had that job. Those who argument that these rulings are meant to dominate women, they are wrong. But this matter must be understood and internalized rather than imposed.
46. Rape
Veronique ,   Rehovot, Israel   (01.07.13)
Rape is about control and power not about modesty. Men have to be reined in and not women! They have to be taught to respect people independently of the way they dress.
47. 100% wrong, #17 Keren
Vered, Israel   (01.07.13)
Rapes and such go down when men are taught to respect women. In Egypt, where the woman go around covered from head to toe, near 85% women are sexually harassed. Why? Because the men are not taught to respect them, and are also taught that the women are responsible for the men's behaviors. Reqiuring wmen to cover up to this absurd degree only goes to show that the men are not taking responsibility for their own feelings
48. two threats against Israel
Naftali ,   Seattle, WA   (01.07.13)
There are two greatest threats to Israel, islamofacism which originates from paganism and practices it to this day in age, and haredim which rejects the destiny of Jewish people of returning to Israel since before the holocaust, and they could might as well be consider a cult, that believes in strict observance, and taking the words from their leaders based on their strict views that it's holy.
49. Rabbi Aviner is a sick man.
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (01.07.13)
he should lock himself up in a monastery and never leave.
50. welcome to Israelistan!
nadav ,   tlv   (01.07.13)
who needs to wait for the Arab Muslims to take over? We have our own lunatic, superstitious fools seeking to turn us into a medieval state!
51. # 21
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (01.07.13)
Excellent !! That made me laugh. Indeed the old perv seems to have done some intensive research into this subject. It really does make one wonder why, doesn't it?!
52. #45, Keren: it is not your business
Runner1983 ,   USA   (01.07.13)
how anyone chooses to dress, or express themselves. Israel is not yet a theocracy. Haredim live in a very closed world, following the fatwas issues by various haredi rabbis accountable to no one, more interested in the repressive details of religious practice that the important area - how one relates to his fellow man. There is a huge world out there, full of possibilities. Too bad you choose to remain in your closed world.
53. Taliban or Kosher
emanon ,   USA   (01.07.13)
54. Is There nay real Basis for This Nonsense?
emanon ,   USA   (01.07.13)
I admit I'm not a scholar, but is there any Torah basis for these restrictions or are these Rabbis just a bunch of old goats trying to keep themselves in check? Given some of the headlines attributed to the alleged ultra-religious, I have my doubts to the validity of these restrictions.
55. to my friend Ben in chutzlaaretz
HS ,   Brooklyn   (01.07.13)
First I thank you for your honesty... everyone is making a big deal about educating 3 year olds... we all educate our children as young as they can accept it to get them used to doing right...Rabbi Aviner himself said that there are varying opinions about when to start... The 3 year old opinion is none other that the Holy Chafetz Chaim and I dont think anyone has anything against him ! I am a 55 year old orthodox rabbi and the laws quoted are widely accepted by almost all normal orthodox divisions... Thats why my caption was they are not R Aviner laws but generally accepted laws... The Torah (bible) does not write out everything fully as HaShem left it over to Torah she Baal Peh (oral tradition) handed over by mouth... If you dont beliieve in that then there is nothing to discuss... Anyway Ben i do appreciate your honesty and wish you success in all your endeavors... Your friend , The old Orthodox Rabbi
56. Rabbi Aviner spends too muchtime thinking of womens clothing
jrebecca ,   modiin   (01.07.13)
What does he have to say about Men's clothing? Or is he too busy checking out what women wear?
57. Modesty code for age 3 and above
El ,   Israel   (01.07.13)
Might as well start it in the womb. Imagine coming totally naked into the world, god must be shocked. Stupid rabbi and the stupid people who pay attention to his stupidities.
58. He has finally gone totally insane!!!!!!!
Michelle ,   Israel   (01.07.13)
Maybe he and those that agree with this should be wearing the modesty glasses mentioned once before on this site.
59. Rabbi Aviner's "modesty rules"
Aviva Adler ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.07.13)
Sexualizing females from the age of 3 is pornographic: the inappropriate perception and treatment of little girls and all females of any age as sexual objects for the gratification of males. R'Aviner's rules are sick; his obsession with little girls and all females as sexual objects is, in itself, the antithesis of tzniut. Males who sexualize little girls are in need of therapy and resocialization as decent human beings with respect for females as betzelem elokim.
60. What is the difference?
Truthseeker ,   USA   (01.07.13)
It seems as if there is no difference between this rabbi and others who insist women must dress as these men demand and the Islamic mullahs who also insist that women cover themselves and dress "modestly." How any woman can follow these men is beyond me.
