Who paid for this 'enormous facility' who's going to pay for keep it open and who's going to run it? I don't see any German, Irish, Italian, or Polish minorities museums despite they're represented in this nation by much higher numbers than Jews,... "attendance has not come close to original expectations" - What a surprise ;) Nothing works when shoved to people's throats and made them pay for it ,...

That's the first sentence from their Web site that describes this object and your megalomaniac attitude ,... I hate to ask the obvious question, but I will. Why did they choose Philly rather than Washington or NYC? Are they expecting hundreds of thousands of visitors to come to Philly to see the exhibitions?

6. Museum of American Jewish Entertainers

This showcase museum replaced a small one floor museum that had been co-located about one block north with Congregation Mikveh Israel, the historic, still very much functioning Spanish Portugeuse kehilla. With my older son, I visited the new museum within a month or so of its opening. We found it to be even more popular culture oriented than Steven Spielberg's Jewish museum in southern Manhattan. While it mentions the existence of the Reform, and shows a few ritual items, otherwise a museum visitor would be understand if he or she thought there were no longer any religious Jews in the USA, certainly no Orthodox (including Modern Orthodox), not even Mikveh Israel. However, Jewish stars of the Yiddish theatre, of the movie industry, and of TV are lovingly recalled. Jewish authors of literature receive a bit of acknowledgement, though religous scholars are hard to find in the Museum's displays. Apparently, American Jewry's secular masses have little interest in their own past if the Museum lacks visitors and support.
