to Judaism.
2. Lucky ones..
Beary hite ,   Norway   (01.12.13)
..but sad for each country to loose the jewish population. At the end its a wish to go to Israel, and not because of killings and violence as in islamic countries, who in their actions are states of apartheid (Egypt, Tunis, Libya, Marokko, Irak, Afghanistan, Syria..)
3. I thought that all Ethiopian Jews
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (01.12.13)
emmigrated to Israel more than 20 years ago, miracle of miracles, every day more and more Ethiopian christians (the Flash mora) discover that they are Jews,is it possible that those new Jews smelled a good meal in Israel ?.
4. # 1 Reuven.50 Million Ethiopians are willing
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (01.12.13)
to convert, in return for a better life, recently while in Israel, i saw a ethiopian demostration, the ethiopians carried ethiopian flags, which indicates how much Jewish they are.

Khazarian rule by the sword but not for ever bs"D !!!!
10. Falash Mura
tania   (01.13.13)
It is not a matter of blue eyes. The Jewish Ethiop[ans are already in Israel. The Falash Mura are people that converted to Christianity. They are therefore, not Jewish unless they convert to Judaism. So if I am from, say, Peru, and I am Jewish, will a distant cousin of mine who is catholic be considered Jewish? And should he, then be entitled to the Law of Return because 2 centuries ago he had a Jewish ancestor? I had heard many years ago, and that may have changed, that there was a tendency in the Falash Mura to try to convert the Jewish Etiopians to Christianity. And that there were some very intent in doing so. I do hope that when they go to Israel they will have an easy time integrating in the country.
11. What sickening talkbacks
Liz   (01.13.13)
The State of Israel has over the past 20 years absorbed HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of "jews" from the FSU, who immigrated to Israel under the Law Of Return received MILLIONS of shekels in benefits, none of which are ever questioned. None of them were halachically Jewish and none kept the Torah laws, but they had one Jewish grandparent. They are the ones diluting the "jewish fabric of the State of Israel", not the Ethiopians who have been following their version of Jewish Law handed down from father to son for thousands of years.... But that's okay, because they are white... Shame on you, all of you for even doubting the claim of these good people to join their Jewish families in Israel
12. #10 Learn Judaism, stop being racest!
Eliezer ,   Betar Illit, Israel   (01.13.13)
Read the Shulchan Aruch, it's clear that one converting away from Judaism can return without conversion.
13. Welcome Home Brothers and Sisters...
Froike ,   NY NY   (01.13.13)
Rejoice...welcome your brothers and sisters back with open arms... A Jew is a Jew...no matter where from, no matter what color, no matter what language they speak. Embrace them and make them understand and feel that finally, they are home!!!!!
14. # 11 ...
Joshua   (01.14.13)
Is quite correct. Instead of these negative thoughts, why is it not a joyous occasion to welcome new Jews to Israel?
15. conversion
Reb Yid ,   NY   (01.15.13)
The Falash Mura are generally known to have converted to Christianity. After a number of generations, clearly, their Jewish lineage is suspect, and we certainly cannot accept their being Jewish simply on their say-so. We would love for them to convert, but many will not do so on principle. This is on top of the broader question of whether any of the Ethiopian Jews, even the general Beta Israel community, are actually Jewish. The historical evidence for their being Jewish is poor, and indeed, in the early days of Ethiopian immigration they all underwent conversion. Only after it became a cause celebre and it looked politically incorrect to have them convert, were they accepted as Jews without conversion, possibly improperly.

nadya ,   California, USA   (01.15.13)
Are these poor people aware of how Israel treats black people? The discrimination they will face, their children will face in school? If I were a person of color I would never want to come there.
17. Ethiopian Jews still in Ethiopia
Andria Spindel ,   Canada   (03.01.13)
Contrary to the above article, there remain many more thousands of Jews living in the area known as Kachene, a district of Addis Ababa and until recently they were unknown to the rest of the Jewish world. they chose to be left behind during the early rescue missions of Israel because of feats about coming out as Jews, havung suffered duscrimination and persecution for generations. These people refer to themselves as Beta Avraham and the majority live outwardly as Christians or did for hundreds of years, but like Conversos of Europe, they lived Jewishly in their homes or in familial memories. The history is long and almost forgotten but young adult members are returning to Judaic practice, offer services and study in their own synagogue and interact now with Jewish visitors, scholars and agencies willing to help them. One such organization is Kulanu Inc which has visited and provided a local resource and other visiting Jews to assist them and connect them to the Jewish world. There is a Facebook site for the group who welcome support and contact with Other Jews.
18. Ethiopia
marian ,   Romania   (03.15.13)
I remember that i read sometimes that the number of Jews in Ethiopia was of millions in the early middle age. They where converted mostly to christianism and islam. Give them time. After interbreeding with some of the very white Ashkenazim, especially from Russia, the result will be anthropologicaly similar with the people brought out from Mitzraim by Moses.
19. #16 You have no clue
David ,   Rishon Lezion   (04.10.13)
My children are at school with "people of color" as you say. I see absolutely no trace of discrimination against them at school or anywhere else for that matter. I'm sure some does exist, like in all societies. The only discrimination against black people in the US was was much worse. And, I lived there, for over 10 years in the South and in the North-East.
