31. Woman verbally abused by haredi bus passengers
Abraham ,   Antwerp,Belgium   (01.09.13)
The main problem is that the Israƫli government does nothing against those people. The situation of harassment by these thugs of those poor woman is going on and on.
32. You should be ashamed for calling her a coward
Noa ,   Haifa   (01.09.13)
As an "Israeli woman", whatever that means to you, I think it's disgusting to judge a girl in that situation. She is all alone on a bus with fanatics. Fear is paralyzing, and she could have easily been physically abused as well - there was no way for her to know at that time. Judging her for not "beating them all up" (what does that even mean?!) makes you as violent as those passengers.
33. Disgusting
Ferdinand ,   Israel & France   (01.09.13)
I'm equally disgusted by this incident as by the talkbackers who instead blame the victim or claim it's an invented story. Had this young Jewish woman been insulted by European neo-nazis, we would all have been enraged, and rightly so. Now, because the haters are haredi Jews, there are some who actually defend them. It's truly disgusting.
34. woman is insulted by Haredim on bus
malka ,   Jerusalem Israel   (01.09.13)
I think bus drivers should be trained to react in these situations and stop the bus and insist that people behave themselves of leave. This is bullying and therefore unacceptable behaviour. I would say very goyish behaviour but the goyim behave better than that! Hutz L'eretz there are stickers at the front of buses insisting men should stand up for pregnant women or those with children and the elderly. These are our hokim. They are using them and we are not!
35. It's time to educate the haredim!
Ralph ,   Caesarea   (01.09.13)
36. To all those posters who don't believe this woman,
Runner1983 ,   USA   (01.09.13)
her description of what occurred fits the behavior of Haredim described many many times by others. You are the same people who would want two witnesses before you believe any woman who was criminally attacked by a haredi male. Shame on you. There are none so blind as those that will not see.....
37. not a coward
(01.09.13)
I doubt they would have attacked her since they cant touch other women or something. She could have simply brushed up against them and they would have gone running in fear. They also have this thing in stores, its advertised as a haredi repellent (kinda like for mosquitoes)....its called bacon and its small and easy to carry and actually has a great smell. They dont come within 10ft of you.
38. Welcome to Ayatollahland of Israel
Paul Barnett ,   London, U.K.   (01.09.13)
Even in Iran they don't treat the women this way! A woman is not an animal , she is a human being . If She has the bad luck of marrying an Ayatollah Rabbi , She is the one who is giving birth to the Rabbi's Ayatollah kids. A woman has a very important role in the society and is considered even more intelligent than the man as she thinks with her head and heart opposite to the man thinking with his animal instinct. A man is a man and should respect the woman because superior. This is a comment made by a real man respecting the women as equal.
39. What I would have done ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.09.13)
.... is burst into song and not stopped until the bus reached Arad. This has gone too far. If the Haredi cannot behave properly, they should be prohibited from using public transportation. Let them hire their own buses .... or walk.
40. Egged response
Gershon ,   NY, USA   (01.09.13)
The statement by Egged is reprehensible. It implies that Miri is somehow at fault for not asking for help. She is the victim! If the driver truly had no idea what was happening on his bus, he SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING. When are the majority of Jews going to stand up and put an end to Haredi tyranny?
41. happens also here in Haifa!
shai ,   Haifa   (01.09.13)
not surprise at all, the same thing it is already happening here in Haifa. Those men and Women that do not like others but those that looks like them they should move, lets say to, Iran??and live us in peace, Shai
42. Egged is responsible
Gregg ,   Haifa IL   (01.09.13)
The driver of the bus is responsible about his passengers behavior. Egged is responsible of its drivers therefore egged is responsible for the passengers behavior. Miri, you should fill up a complaint to the bus company. Those people are monkeys and egged is a shame for supporting them
43. I will be travelling shortly to Israel
Hot-Headed Scottie   (01.09.13)
and will be using the bus service as I intend, yet once again, to use public transport and by that I mean travelling by bus. I'm not only quick tempered but also very hot tempered that has got me into lots of trouble in the past. Only ONCE does one of those black coated, with wringlets hanging around his ears, with a pure white face (obviously gasping for fresh air) make one false remark or movement towards me, and he's going to be wishing he lived somewhere beyond Israel. I'm extremely short and quick tempered, and I can only advise these strange looking men with their long black coats and bowler hats to be EXTREMELY careful if they shoukld happen to find this Scottish Lassie on one of ""their"" buses. One little word of caution....... be extremely careful. I'm not afraid to throw one of you, big or small, right out through the window. Frankly, I'll wipe the streets with you B's!
44. Another own goal...
Ram ,   London   (01.09.13)
by the wonderful Haredim. It is amazing that these people, who supposedly follow the word of the Torah, act completely opposite to its tenets. Instead of acting as an example to the non-observant, sadly they do the opposite with this kind of behavior.
45. What we tolerate will go on...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.09.13)
These hooligans harm even more the religious society,by causing them to be hated, than the insulted women on the bus. They are guilty of hilul Hashem. The majority of Haredim condemn this horrible behaviour. These hooligans must be punished individually ,and taken away their right to ride on busses. Having said that, act to stop this, but don t react by blowing up these incidents out of proportion. Israel needs a population that lives in understanding and in harmony. Unity is the condition of her strength. May Israel be AM EHAD.
46. 4 Charles,Yes,That s the thing to do !
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.09.13)
Sit near a Habad woman... she can make you grow beard and payes Enjoy your new life. It s delicious. LOL
47. I also am now making
Sagi   (01.09.13)
a vomiting sound. It is a reflex action to what I have just read. I am also very sad that this is the outcome of the "Jewish Democratic Free State" that my forefathers founded and shed blood for. How disgusting can these bearded wonders get, how low can they stoop.
48. Haredim spitting at woman
Joseph Charlap ,   Mevasseret Zion   (01.09.13)
Who do these Haredim think they are?? How dare they spit at another human being - its like spitting at G'd's creation. They behave like common hooligans and not like religious people. Shame on them!!
49. 1.Unbelievable
Joseph Charlap ,   Jerusalem   (01.09.13)
Apart from your spelling mistake which should spell "unbelievable" it seems that you are very naive. Of course its possible! It happens all the time. Dont you read papers or see the news on the internet? Its perfectly believable and disgusting
50. At least haredi women are polite...sometimes
A ,   Belgium   (01.09.13)
I recently flew from Tel Aviv and was unfortunatley seated next to a haredi girl, while her mother was seated a few seats in front of us. I could sense she was extremely uncomfortable sitting next me, as she most likely found me extremely (I could have been her saba age wise) attractive and she probably feared that she would most likely have difficulty controlling her natural urges. After some hurried whispering between the girl and her mom, she asked me VERY politely if I would mind switching seats so she and her mom could sit together. Of course, she couldn't tell me the REAL reason she didn't want to sit next to me, and out of fear of being sexually harrassed for 4 and a half hours, I gladly agreed to switch seats. I think I would have had a very difficult flight and a lot of explaining to my wife if I had refused. But at least she was polite about asking.
51. #18 "Put them all in Judea and Samaria"
A ,   Belgium   (01.09.13)
That's not fair! There is a secular (I was part of it) population in Yesha too, ie. Ariel, Alfe Menashe, Oranit, Karnei Shomron, etc. Seculars in Yesha shouldn't have to put up with these "Jewish terrorists" anymore than you in Tel Aviv, they have enough problems with "palestinian" terrorists.
52. Just a glimpse into the future
StevieT ,   USA   (01.09.13)
of the once great State of Israel. The politicians pander to these "anachrons" so they can stay in power. The good citizens put up with their politicians because they are afraid of change, (OMG - I may be called center-left) Many good people get fed up and leave the country, The "anachrons" gain more demographic strength. The "anachrons" breed like rabbits, increasing their demographic advantage, The free benefits thrown them from their political pals help them attract more and more of their diaspora brethren, exploding their demographic advantage. Don't like it? Stop voting for pols who will court the anachronistic crowd. PERIOD. OR, relax, enjoy and fund them.
53. Yay! She got here photo on Ynet!
shua ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.09.13)
There is a rule in victim profiling, if the "victim" is willing to pose for a photo op than the "victim" is either 1. the instigator trying to brush up their image with an angelic photo, or, 2. not a victim at all but just trying to legitimize their story using a photo op. Go figure!
54. why do they follow us
ky   (01.09.13)
Not just in Israel but everywhere that honest and hard working secular Jews have lived and settled. In the UK, Stamford Hill was an area where secular jews lived in the 1930's 40's and 50's until the Haredim came and took it over by their birth rate. Their life style only makes certain occupations possible and that means that many of them have to live on benefits. Secular Jews fought the war, fought against antisemitism, built their lives upon honest work and toil. They came and took a free ride on our backs and then forced us out if we didn't accept their ideas. No more seculars in Stamford Hill Soon no more seculars in Israel.
55. #39, Bravo, good response. Hope you are not the impostor.
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.09.13)
Has the reformation time arrived?
56. MAKE IT MANDITORY:ALL JEWISH WOMEN - CARRY MACE/PEPPER SPRAY
ANGRY DAV ZEE ,   ATLANTA   (01.09.13)
AS LONG AS THERE ARE these "STOOPID" threatening & INTOLERANT HEREDI attacking defenseless women, there must be some way to defend ALL women from these socially "stoopids" and misfits... I say arm all women with a means to be able to defend themselves against these ill mannered obnoxious and dangerous bullies. They're real big on pushing around women when they have no one else around to defend them from these cowardly 6th century terrorists/punks. This CONSTANT ONGOING public heredi abuse of ISRAELI CITIZENS is WORST THAN ANY IRANIAN, LEB, SYRIAN OR GAZA THREAT...IT IS THE WORLD OBSERVED open public ROT of Israel society caused by these spineless worms and must be THWARTED.... lets' see the same vigor, in arresting/thwarting these pitiful MISGUIDED heredic THUGS that the police show, in arresting JEWISH women who wish to PRAY TO G-D on the Jewish Mount! The POLICE who are ignoring these attacks are co-conspiritors and deserve a government inquiry! Where's the AG now? Chasing politicos? instead of these black suited ill mannered abusive criminals who make the world spit on all JEWS!. If they did it to my wife or daughters, they would be picking up their titsi's with their broken arms while moaning through their broken jaws...and I mean it!
57. Shiksa?
tzina nechumah ,   Jerusalem, Israel.   (01.09.13)
Sticks and stones may break my bones but my parents 'Kosher' ketubah says so.
58. 50 A.Belgium...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.09.13)
Most Haredi same as Secular girls would rather sit next to her mum, than a stranger , during a flight of four hours. It was very kind of you to accept.
59. These Haredim belong in Iran
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (01.09.13)
60. To No. 39
