1. Character of the Wall
JJ Gross ,   Jerusalem   (01.09.13)
Liberal Jew outnumber orthodox ones by a factor of 10 to 1 yet regular Orthodox worshippers at the Wall outnumber liberals by 1000 to 1. No one is preventing masses of non Orthodox Jews from being at the Kotel morning noon and night. Let them come in their true numbers and things will change . A small group of publicity hungry nudniks like Anat Hoffman cannot effect meaningful change.
2. war what war?! this is a gross exaggeration!
An Othrodox Woman ,   Israel   (01.09.13)
further, I go to the Western Wall all the time. I am an orthodox woman and wear a kippah and a tallit ... no one bothers me because I don't bother anyone. I wear a kippah which has gentle feminine touches and a regular scarf to which I have attached tzitzis. I suppose that since I don't make a spectacle of myself no one feels threatened or offended. I strongly urge these Reform women to cease and desist from their attention getting behavior before they ruin it for all the rest of us who are also looking at this as an opportunity to serve G-d in our own unique ways!
3. DOWN with those FANATICS, let the Reform have RIGHTS 2.
Big Mouth ,   On the face   (01.09.13)
Since the Reformists WORK and serve in ARMY and NOT the AYATOLLAHS.
4. Typical anti-semitic publicity seeking from the liberal left
Akiva   (01.09.13)
Here we go again! The Reform movement has declared war many times on the past. Not on the Kotel, but on Hashem, on the Torah, on chazal, on the beliefs and convictions of the Jewish people for countless generations. Who are these pretenders kidding? They don't believe there's any sanctity to the Kotel at all! They are against the korban, they call their synagogues "temples", they don't believe in Mashiach or the Third Temple (or anything really) and are the poster children for drawing a bulls-eye round your own shot. When will people wake up? This has NOTHING to do with the Kotel. It's actually the same self-hatred that makes Meretz fall over themselves to give away Jerusalem and the Golan for nothing in return. It's also the thrill of feminism, the deep-seated love of offending others by flaunting their misplaced conceptions of freedom. That's all fine in many ways, but the left is barking up the wrong tree if it thinks it's about to change Judaism. Sorry folks, you're thousands of years too late and pretty soon your pathetic, intermarrying, assymilating, lawless and G-dless "movement" will be consigned to the dustbin of history.
5. Re #1 at the Wall
Mark ,   Cleveland USA   (01.09.13)
Perhaps if more of the Haredim were in the army and had full time jobs rather than relying so heavily on welfare, they would have less time to hang out at the Wall. The Kotel belongs to all Jews. All denominations should be able to pray there comfortably. That the orthodox were put in charge was simply a stupid move. They are the least accomidating of all of the denominations, and the only group that is unable to administer the wall in an equitable way.
6. first fight for rights on temple mount
yoni ,   jewish homeland   (01.09.13)
as usual the "liberals" are completely disoriented and wage the battle against other jews instead of focusing energy on the real threats and issues.
7. Women at the Wall.
tzina nechumah ,   Jerusalem, Israel.   (01.09.13)
What would happen if in order to make the Kotel more 'kosher' all those bus loads of tourists who utter the name of jesus were arrested?
8. I can't get past their threat ...and I'm a secular Jew!
EST ,   Miami USA   (01.09.13)
... "They warned the prime minister and Jewish Agency chairman that the situation could affect the support given to Israel by Diaspora Jews...." So they will support the only Jewish State in the world, only they can impose their will on the citizens of Israel???? That doesn't make sense to me. Those are not Jews who want a better world for all of us Jews....They are like babies throwing a tantrum except that in this case, their tantrum carries a world of hurt towards the only Jewish state in the world!!! BTW, I am a secular South American female Jew.... Yes, I am female and I am a Diaspora Jew. these people DO NOT represent me nor my views!!! Shame on these Women of the Wall!!!! They are extremely egotistical!
9. B'hai Gardens
Mark ,   Montreal   (01.09.13)
anyone ever been to the bhai gardens in haifa? i have and let me tell you something...there are sricter rules about modesty and anything else such as no chewing gum, no cell phones no pictures no talking out loud, women's heads must be covered, arms covered and the like. if you do not comply with the rules you must leave or not enter..because they believe that its a place of g-d...and everyone respects that and no one complains...yet one it comes to the sanctity of the kotel where KNOW that g-d is there and we are commanded to respect....hope you all get the point....
10. This why the Mosque is on Mounting
Avram Goldsmith ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.09.13)
Reform what reform? one HALACHA for all comply or else. Reform exagerations pass all the bounderies, go to Boston and you going see Reform Rabbi worhship in CHURCH. They don't workship God, they want God to workship them and this the big difference.
11. @8
AY ,   USA   (01.09.13)
I remember when on a Birthright trip, we - and by "we" I mean mostly non-religious or Reform or Conservative Jews - have heard that Israel is our country, too. Bla-bla-bla... Anyway, my point being - why should we in the diaspora support a state that does not recognize OUR religious needs and beliefs to the point where it arrests people? LOL, Satmar, who are openly against the state get more respect than the Reform and Conservative Jews.
12. Praying at the Wall
coachmentor ,   NY USA   (01.10.13)
It will never be allowed this a holy site!!!
13. Well said, Mrk #5
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.10.13)
14. @12 Shhhh...but Rambam says this pagan worship....
Jew ,   JewLandia (Israel)   (01.10.13)
and besides what you are calling a holy site is just a wall. The holy site is on top on the Temple Mount itself.
15. Media dishonesty
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (01.10.13)
The High Court agreed to have a separate section of the Western Wall, namely Robinson's Arch, set aside for non-Orthodox services, but the Reform and the media seldom mention this in their campaign. They also fail to mention that the area overlooking the Western Wall Plaza, before you go down to the Wall, is mixed. To quote Ms Hoffman, leader of Women at the Wall, 'Israel is too important to be left to Israelis'!! Who would have thought Reform would want front seats where the animal sacrifices were offered? They have scrapped all references to the Temple Avoda.
16. Non-religious public
Danny ,   London England   (01.10.13)
The Western Wall Plaza is not serving the needs of the non-religious Israeli public? The Western Wall Plaza is not just a 'national monument', it is a religious site and by definition does not serve the needs of those who have no religious needs. I don't suppose Westminster Abbey, St Paul . . . serve the needs of the non-religious British public. The Western Wall is Israel's national Synagogue, until the Temple is rebuilt.
17. Kotel is Public Domain. Equal rights must be maintained.
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.10.13)
Orthodox must share everything in Public Domain with Reform, Conservatives, Reconstructionists, Women, Men, Gays, Lesbian, and even me, the Atheist. Nothing else is acceptable at the Kotel (and anywhere else.)
18. Occupied territory?
Joe ,   Baltimore, USA   (01.11.13)
I understand the Movement for Reform Judaism officially considers the West Bank and East Jerusalem to be 'occupied territory' and therefore 'out of bounds'. Have I misunderstood? If I am correct, what are the Reform doing demanding a bigger say over 'occupied territory'? Also, the Temple Mount is the site of the animal sacrifices brought in the Temple. If the Reform have removed all references to the Avodah and the Temple, so why are they demanding front row seats?
19. Time for seperatation of Jerusalem
Dan ,   K"S, Israel   (01.11.13)
The time has come to rethink separating parts of Jerusalem from Israel and giving the Old City, and certain neighborhoods, to the Heredi to govern and maintain with THEIR taxes.
20. 'non-religious events hardly ever held at the Kotel'
Danny ,   London England   (01.11.13)
Why are they surprised that non-religious events are hardly ever held at the Kotel? How often are religious events held in Covent Garden Opera House? Only Reform could complain that a religious site is used for religious events!
