The Russians came here and brought with them higher education,music, literature,theatre, sport, chess skills and so the list goes on. I was shocked to see the blatantly racist propaganda from Shas yesterday, didnt think that they would go so low. Presumably this is the stuff of their leaders. One last point, the Russian girl was gorgeous.

We should have conversion available to all streams of Jews, and each person who enters into marriage can make his or her own decision if the potential spouse is "Jewish enough". I'll take Russian olim who work to support the Jewish state, and have expressed a desire to join us over Chazal-worshipping racists any day.

Which "race" is the target of the "racism" in this ad? Would that be the "white race" or the "gentile race"? Gentile isn't a race, and racism against white people - that'd be a first for a goverment to get involved in stopping it. Have we, in such a short time, already forgotten the meaning of "racism"?

The ad implies that all Russian-speaking Olim are not sufficiently Jewish. We must be grateful that our arab adversaries are sufficiently stupid to kepp attacking us. If they were any smarter, they would just step back and let us commit suicide by the kind of sectarian warfare openly promoted in this blatantly racist ad.

The Jewish character of Israel could so easily be disolved via shoddy conversions, so that no one would know who is genuinely a Jew via legitimate means. A JEW is one who is either born that way via a Jewish mother (paternity is contestable, while maternity is obviously not) or one who studies diligently and earnestly out of a genuine desire to entwine their destiny with that of the Jewish people.

We can not FAX away the soul of the only Jewish State. Shas is mea achuz on this one: just as you wouldn't want your surgeon to have gotten his diploma faxed in from the "University of Guadalupe", so you don't want "insta-Jews" -- "Jews of convenience" with no investment in the meaning of being a Jew in a Jewish homeland. Anything worthwhile and important requires some investment of self, some measure of work. Conversion is part and parcel of Judaism. We don't actively try to convert anyone, but we are founded on it. King David himself was great-grandson of Ruth, the definitive convert. Moses' wife was daughter of the famous convert Jethro, etc, etc. There is nothing in traditional Judaism that shuns converts, just fake quick-fix ones.
