1. Well we will have to reject the plan.
Bill Stein ,   USA   (01.13.13)
Israel in my opinion as a policy needs a Mutual Assurance Destruction policy against any country including so called friends that threatens her existence both physically and economically with embargoes boycotts, delitimization, anti semitism and blockades. Israel as a policy in my opinion should develop retaliation policies not only nucular, emp retaliation but cyberwarfare potential blockaid of PA goods to other countries, annexation of parts of Judea and Samaria that are strategically religiously important to Israel, and distabilization policies. Unless these countries feel they have something to loose by their policies anti Israel and Anti Jewish policies these countries are going to continue to protmote these policies. Israel must begin to fight back for her legitimacy. One has to ask ourselves if our so called friends and allies support Israels existance why are there no embassys in at least West Jerusalem which is supposedly not contested. This is my opinion.
2. Livni and Europe the Same
Bill Stein ,   USA   (01.13.13)
What's going to happen if labour or Livini is elected or Israel negotiates the European Plan and goes back to the 67 borders and you have 7 million Palis by the right of return within walking distance of Tel Aviv? How long will Israel remain a Jewish State then.
3. The Ides of March 2013
Reuven ,   Zichron   (01.13.13)
Natanyahu, Lieberman and Bennet are total incompetents. They are putting us into the position of being painted into a corner by the West including the USA. If it ever comes to sanctions on Israel, we will cave in much sooner that Iran. People should think about this and vote for Shelley, Tzipi, Lapid or Mofaz!
4. Blind Europe
Gallula ,   Paris   (01.13.13)
When I see europe's economic and ethnic situation I am not surprised of their willingness to deport their huge problems onto Israel. They think by putting pressing on Israel they will have social peace with the european arabic population (more than 1 million entering a year !) When I see princess Ashton or Fabius, I am convinced they work for Arab camp. Never trust them especially Fabius who forgot his origin and ready to sell Israel!!!
5. Reuven#3
MC   (01.13.13)
No Reuven, you have it the wrong way round Natanyahu-Lieberman and Bennett are not the incompetant ones in fact they are the only ones competent to save Israel from buckling under to the rest of the world and from the left wing Shelly, Zipi Lapid and Mofaz all of whom haven't got a clue about what's best for Israel they are only interested in their own egos. Will we ever learn from past experiences?
6. "new plan"
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (01.13.13)
This is boring. The "new plan" will be identical to the old Saudi plan, the only differences being: First, Israel will make major irreversible concessions as "confidence building measures" Abbas will be asked to make a non-commital verbal promise to negotiate. Europe will guarantee the agreement, just like they guaranteed previous agreements, meaning not at all.
7. #3Reuven:I am sure there is some logic in your reasoning:
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.13.13)
I will get back to you when I decipher it. Don't bother waiting, it'll probably take couple of weeks/months/years....
8. How will they bribe Abbas this time?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (01.13.13)
Four years later and he is still avoiding negotiations, how will the EU bribe him to the table?
9. If there is a timeline, who wins when it is not met
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (01.13.13)
The problem with a fixed timetable is that one side thinks that failure of the talks means that they get everything they want, so the do not negotiate.
10. Another attempt at futility?
Golan ,   modiin   (01.13.13)
Will the EU plan deal with Muslim and European antisemitism? Will the EU honor the UN's charter calling for the Trans-Jordan being part of the Jewish state? WIll a sizable Arab population remain in Israel, thereby continuing the demographic threat? Will the no man land by Modiin be handed to the PLO/Hamas? even though it is not "occupied" territory even by UN nonsense standards which in any case contradict international law (San Remo Conference) Will the EU continue to turn a blind eye to Arab intransigence and terror? Besides, what right does the EU have to dictate to us? We are a sovereign state. That is like Israel dictating to the French where their border should be with Germany. Or where the British can or cannot build in London.
11. Wake up !
Abou Fayez ,   Brussels   (01.13.13)
Zionists, rightists, centrists, leftists, religious, seculars… Wake up! The conflict in the land of the Mandatory Palestine, there are only 3 possible solutions, not one more. 1) The ‘Grand Palestine’, a solution which will lead, anyway, to the creation of one state between the sea and the Jordan river; 2) The ‘Grand Israel’ which will lead, no matter what, to the creation of one single state between the sea and the river. Amazingly enough, it reassembles the same state in number 1. 3) A partition of the land between these two entities. The Palestinians and the Israeli Jews are not going anywhere from here. So, sooner or later, every one will find out that there is no other solution than the number 3. Stop crying and shouting. And, mainly, stop your arrogance. Israel is militarily strong-for now. If this fragile equilibrium is reversed, and it will one day, it will be too late. Can you see further than your noses?
12. #3 do tell
(01.13.13)
Mofaz and Zippy were senior members in the government that the Europeans accused of war crimes for the "blockade" of Gaza and the Cast Lead operation. I don't think these two will receive much support. Neither Lapid nor Shelley have said what their plan is that will bring peace, how their plans are different than Barak and Olmerd plans rejected by the Arabs and how they will prevent Grad rockets on Rishon. All we know is that Shelley was one of the engines for arming Hezbollah (support that has brought tragedy on Lebanon, Syria and Israel) as well as a vocal supporter of all the extreme Leftist plans that have failed. We know that Shelley has minor experience as an MK, she believes in the economics that have destroyed Greece, Spain and Portugal, and that she is a supporter of the big unions that bring misery to the poor and middle class. We know that Lapid is a draft-dodger, demands Haredi draft and that he wants to "help the middle class" but does not explain how he will do this in a coalition with Shelley
13. EU... GET OUT OF HERE... ALL JERUSALEM IS OURS
stude ham   (01.13.13)
AND NOONE WILL EVER TEAR AWAY FROM US ANY PART OF THAT HOLY LAND. nor will anyone ever again give away to any foreign invader any part of our lands. your plans to recolonize the middle east and give away our lands are obscene and dead in the waters.
14. Abbas is illegitimate.
Jules   (01.13.13)
15. What does she have to say about Malvinas?
Pedro ,   Brazil   (01.13.13)
Catherine Ashton is hypocrite and disgusting.
16. EU leaders are blind leaders of the blind!
Jouko ,   Finland   (01.13.13)
17. Just say no to 67 borders as a precondition.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (01.13.13)
18. It's not the EU.......
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (01.13.13)
It's not the EU which is pushing Israel into a corner, it's the Israeli government itself. You can't ignore the world for ever and poke fingers into the eyes of Obama, Cameron, Ashton, Hollande and Merkel. Time to wake up and stop the arrogance.
19. Abou Fayez no 11
LION OF JUDAH ,   Jews fight like LION   (01.13.13)
Wake up and smell the cooffeeeee !!! Israel is strong in military, economic, technology, scientific, and others. It will only get stronger and stronger by the day. Eat yourself and stretch your hand to the Belgium hand out.
20.  It's revenge time for the EU
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (01.13.13)
for Jews surviving all their pogroms, inquisitions and holocausts. Drive them out of the country, now. If they want to side with Islam, let them have a good time. Jews will come back to pick up the pieces.
21. Eric no 8
LION OF JUDAH ,   Jews fight like LION   (01.13.13)
The Europeans will not dare to pressure the Palestinians, they can only pressure Israel. Israel should stand FIRMLY AND TO TELL THE EUROPEANS TO HELL WITH YOU.
22. Biased & anti Israel EU
AL QUDS ALYAHUDI ,   QUDS HAKA ALYAHUD   (01.13.13)
Would the European pressures the Palestinians to allow Jews to live with them ?
23. Denial is not a river in Egypt
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (01.13.13)
We as Israelis either propose a solution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict or we will have a solution imposed upon us. We are not Iran, we need the International community to ensure our continued existence
24. Livni and Europe the same. Totally
DT ,   TA Israel   (01.13.13)
correct. If Israel elects Livni or she joins Likud that says it all for Netanyahu. I'm was Beiteinu but now voting H Hayudi
25. The New "New Plan" is a best "Old Plan"!
(01.13.13)
Establish a non-violence nation- building in Palestinian territories. End the systematic oppression of Palestinian classes of people by another Palestinian class of powerful Palestinians. The Palestinian social structure has many non-violent elements, but too many religious, political and economical strong men are having faith in violence. New Flag Slogan: Universal Non- Violence for Palestine! No more Hamas, no more Fatah, only peace!
26. Send the Palestinians to Syria
Esther Cohen ,   Jerusalem Israel   (01.13.13)
Who are the Europeans to tell us what to do? The same ones that knew about the gas chambers and could have saved millions? Start worrying about Syria and whilst you are about it send the Palestinians there. Do you know about the hundreds of thousands now freezing in the snow? Get some perspective why don't you. ISRAEL IGNORE THEM. THEY WANT US DEAD.
27. The world must impose a solution...
Robert ,   Australia   (01.13.13)
....to the situation. Israel or the Palestinians are not mature enough to do it for themselves.
28. Europeans
David S ,   USA   (01.13.13)
Last time the European Powers negotiated on behalf of another sovereign state they ended up handing Czechoslovakia over to Nazi Germany. They should mind their own business.
29. Well, that one is extremely EASY.
Mitzi   (01.13.13)
In fact, couldn't be any easier for Israel even if it wanted to. It just will say a big fat NO. And no one, certainly NO ONE can do a damn thing. Logically. all the lies and obfuscations about sanctions are just that pure dreams of the far-left and the spineless to "rape" Israel. The Israeli gov't will say NO and that will be the end of their Saudi-plan. And the best thing is they won't be able to do a damn thing about it. It's [Israel] a *SOVEREIGN* Country forever and ever. Especially nowadays with its various strength. EASY...
30. peace plan
colin ,   israel   (01.13.13)
Again a story from the writers that have nothing to say or write about The E U has nothing to report and are looking for a story to fill its clonues
