hagel has neither the temperament nor the competence to be secretary of defence. he, together with obama, will destroy the us military. certainly the us military is bloated. but it takes a very competent person to know how to cut out the fat and leave a lean and mean military. obama would have been much better inspired to nominate someone brilliant who knows the military thoroughly. unfortunately, as a narcissist, obama cannot abide brilliant people close to him. of course, hagel's ideology is also a problem. supporting assorted islamists just ten years after the nine eleven attacks is a bit much.
