31. HEART WARMING UNITY
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (01.14.13)
Some things never change, while the Iranians are racing towards the bomb, people here are at each others troath about non issues. The tempel plaza is not the tempel itself and no one has an exclusive right to it. Eda Haredit is sadly agian showing its lack of respecting others and using words that are insulting to other people. One would think that with all our enemies wanting our demise, that we could get to a point of at least accepting each others ways and giving each other respect. But our history shows time and again, that we are incapable of getting along.
32. Lashon hara by this self-righteous rabbi
Carl ,   USA   (01.14.13)
The only thing "corrupt[ing] this place of Divine presence" is foul language from the likes of this rabbi that disrespects his fellow Jews and the entire state of Israel.
33. Let those who follow Jewish laws oversee the Kotel
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (01.14.13)
Lets be honest, the practices of Reform Jews are no different from Christians. Reform Jews do not observe the Sabbath, do not eat Kosher, and do not observe the holidays in a meaningful way. Therefore, Reform Jews DO NOT follow the Jewish religion and this is fine. Reform Jews are free to live how they want, but they should do away from Jewish Holy sites, because they are holy. Leave it to Reform Jews and they will be eating bacon sandwiches on Yom Kippur at the Kotel and argue that it's Judaism. This example is no more extreme than when Reform Rabbis eat bacon at Jewish weddings and at Reform Synagogues.
34. All Jews are welcome to pray at the Kotel
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (01.14.13)
The only requirement is that they observe the rules and show respect. When I go to a Mosque I take my shoes off, if I go to the Vatican I cover my shoulders and when one goes to the Kotel they cover their head and act appropriately. This is no different. I don't agree with Haredi statements, but the different is that observant Jews pray daily and Reform Jews pray once a year.
35. Teshuvah
Cheryl ,   Chicago, IL   (01.14.13)
Do they not have the right to make teshuvah like anyone else?
36. when a rabbi arrives, God leaves.
sonia ,   rome italy   (01.14.13)
37. Judaism is a non-prophet organisation
rivka ,   paris france   (01.14.13)
38. fundamentalists
Marcel ,   San Jose, Costa Rica   (01.14.13)
I love Israel but could never understand how this country allows these religious fundamentalists to control access to holy sites as well as have a say over public life during Sabbath. This is completely over the top.
39. Silly to call names.....
Lesbee Anne ,   NY NY   (01.14.13)
Reform Jews should respect the wishes of Haredim, and Haredim should not call Reform (deformed) Jews names publicly! Reform Jews negate, deny, and mock all of Torah and in this way thumb their noses at Haredim. Haredim devote their lives to G-d and Torah...they should be able to dictate rules of behavior at the holiest site in the world. If they acted this way at a mosque they would be beaten or worse. Hence the WOW, ignoramii that they are, should dress modestly and act in a respectful manner.
40. #14- So What?
Koose E Mack ,   NY NY   (01.14.13)
Someone has to keep your families women in business!
41.  who should conrol the kotel?
amir burstein ,   United States   (01.14.13)
" the evil government" = the state of israel, DOES NOT EXIST, according to the likes of " eda hareidit". so what voice do they have in this mater ?! it's been high noon for years that they aught to be placed OUT OF exsistance within the " evil state", for not paying taxes, not contributing to society & are openly AGAINST IT.
42. @39 as a LesBeeAnne u should rethink ur position
(01.14.13)
because I am not so sure that those you are defending would defend you. And those you are offending still love you dear.
43. This infighting has to stop
Ezra ,   San Diego   (01.15.13)
This fighting among Jews has to stop. We were, and still are, a collection of different tribes; we are diverse. HaShem knows every inch of Sheol, how much more what's in our hearts? Are we to descend into unholiness by all this fighting, as we did when living in Egypt? I think not!
44. Insane
Benjamin ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (01.15.13)
It was the soldiers of that " evil" regime that risked their lives and sacrificed their blood to liberate Jerusalem ( and the Western Wall). That an atavistic group of medieval fanatics should open their mouths is indeed insane!
45. Liberalism
SD Charger ,   San Diego   (01.16.13)
If I remember correctly, when things went too far with religious sites, history has said that they usually end up settled with bloodshed, no?
46. To much ado about 16th century morales
Norman Gellman ,   Israel   (01.16.13)
First of all the restrictions against women are not from the Torah but are encoded in Halacha which is man made interpretation of the Torah and which sets standards of behavior not covered in the Torah. In the main it is based on the 16th century "Shulchan Aruch"which of course gives rules based on 16th century normal's. The world has moved on from that century and it is time that the religious realize that their survival requires them to update to the 21st century Look around, people can fly all over the world and go into space, we have motor cars, trains and other forms of transportation, we have electricity, women do all sorts of jobs long side men including military service in war zones. So wake up to the now!
47. 45
zionist ferver   (01.16.13)
The orthodox grudgingly agreed to make Robinsons Arch for liberal services but nothing short of liberalising the main plaza will make them happy they go out their way to fan the flame. The worst of the lot is the small feminist group Women of the Wall who intentionally break the rules to get themselves arrested and come out of it looking like the voice of the people and its only the authorities and the haredi who Israelis love to hate who don't want change. When the men & women who want things to remain the way they are also start protesting when the two sides meet all hell is going to break loose.
48. I'm aghast!
Nel Sema ,   Spharad   (01.16.13)
Hookers? Inmorals? Evil regime? Have these people noted that they are every day more like those mad radical Muslims than Torah followers? What would be the next? Self-inmolations at the Kotel? Please, drink a cup of tila (better a tank) and keep the respect given by Adonai to women, and the rest of the World. My full support for Rabbi Rabinovwtch, of course.
49. King Herod, who had build the western
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USAj   (01.19.13)
wall, was not a member of the Eda Haredit,King Herod would have sided with the women of the reform movement, the western wall is a national shrine, not a haredi shrine, the haredi shrines are dead Jews in Uman, and Lezensk.
50. 49 J.K. Haredi shrines not dead...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.19.13)
never existed.Never heard of a Jewish shrine. The Western Wall is a holy place.Every Jew who respects it s holiness is welcome.
51. Wester wall
Edouard ,   Canada   (03.10.13)
Ridiculous All this for few stones on top of each other In the worst location ever Dismantle it let rebuilt it tel aviv near the sea with plenty parking ,restaurant ,shopping areas, organize activities for reforms, conservators, women, gays,Christian,Muslims and who ever loves peace and friends Let the"holy site"in the hands of Haredim when they will see that no money is coming to them due to lake of visitors they will abandon the site like they did it for 2000 year Muslim will be happy to have the all site for the self and we will have peace By the way outdoes not have to be the same stones a good replica is good enough LOL
