I'm not entitled to advocate an opinion about what's right and what's wrong. I do know that Jews lived in Israel long before the state was founded, and their right to live there is not predicated upon loyalty to the state. That's not opinion, that's historical and cultural fact.
But leaving that aside, I was not addressing right or wrong. I was talking about unworkable truths. If a law is passed to mandate equal duty, do you think the Chareidim are going to say "ah, that's the law, where do I sign up"? The likelihood of that happening is on par with his firm plank of restarting peace talks. It makes sense from our side. But who is there to talk to?
In theory, theory is not different than reality, but in reality, it is. What you're going to have is absolute, adamantine refusal by the chareidim. We're not talking Gandhi here. They may not be willing to fight the Arabs, but I guarantee they'll take to the streets to fight any such law.
Am I entitled to say that?
