2. best news i have heard all day
zionist forever   (01.24.13)
The arabs of course are not going to join and neither will Meretz that means that Bibi only parties on the left has to worry about in a coalition is Mofaz (who Bibi wants anyway) possibly Livni unless she decides to take the moral high ground if Bibi doesn't offer her a senior enough ministry for her ego and Lapid who is going to be very powerful. As long as Bibi has both the religious & Bennet in his coalition as well as Lapid then no one party on the right or left can bring down the government if they have a tantrum and threaten to pull out the coalition. I wonder who will be replacing Shelly as leader of Labor? The experienced people like Amram Mitzna and Peretz have joined Livni I don't think Ben Eliezer wants the job again.
3. What the heck???
Jessie Cohen ,   Israel   (01.25.13)
Hello, is Bibi losing it?? What the heck is he inviting MERETZ into the coalition for??? See, a vote for the Likud, is ALWAYS a vote for the Left.
4. New coalition
howard singer ,   pittsburgh, USA   (01.25.13)
O.K., guys. Here is what is going to happen. Bibi, Lapid, Bennett and Mofaz will form a coalition leaving Cabinet positions to be filled. The first order of business will be draft reform. After this is completed, UTJ will enter the coalition. Tzipi will be rejected, Yachimovich will say no and Labor will revolt; and Shas will be allowed in only if it comes in cheap. Of course, Bibi will take 20 days trying to start with other parties in his coalition from the beginning but will fail. You can bet on the above. It is a sure thing
5. Understandable Highly Undesirable
Zechariah   (01.25.13)
I understand. Shelley Yachamovitches Stand she locked herself in for Democratic reasons before the eleection but a faction of seven Labor member ought join for two years to bolster The Defense against Iranian jihadi and Fatah Ba'ath threats. The time for a Jewish and Arab State in the Area as Proposed by Chaim Weizman in the 1930sand Herzyl in the 1890s is gone because of the Jewish Catastrophe of the Shoah which if Islam Had given European Jews Refuge as formulated by the Prophet would have allowed equal numbers of Jews andArabs in A Large Democratic Human Rights Traditionally Religious State .
6. Learn from mistakes
Dr I. Heart ,   USA   (01.25.13)
Yachimovich did not Lear from Zipi Livni failure: In last election Kadima could have joined a coalition with Likud to create a two party government. Yet, Livni hate of Netanyahu was more important than Israel. Kadima sank into decadence and in fighting and the party,Kadima was destroyed. Yachimovich is doing the same. It is the interest of avoda to join Netanyahu government and create a unity government. What is more important Israel or selfish Shelly?
7. Labor in the opposition Kerry on the offensive
Avramele   (01.25.13)
A democracy needs a fighting opposition and give labor credit for it's message to Bibi. And Bibi will be up against a tough cookie in John Kerry who said he doesn't promote peace through public statements. No more games Mr. Prime Minister!
8. who wants this new, limp labour
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (01.25.13)
yacimovich is not david ben gurion. ben gurion understood that security of the jewish state was the most important job of the prime minister. our parents were destitute but did not complain. do we want our familes to be destitute? for sure we do not. however, security of the jewish state remains the prime minister's chief concern.
9. ideology? what ideology?
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (01.25.13)
Shelly says 'wide ideological and political gaps' - what she means is that she is hoping that Bibi fails and she will somehow make a government. Her aspirations to become PM is causing the Israelis to suffer. If she was sincere for social changes and to promote peace, she, like, Yair Lapid, would join Bibi. But her thinly veiled excuse, 'wide ideological and political gaps', is a cover for personal aspirations at the expense of the country. Shelly, go join Livni in the kitchen and leave politics to those who can live with being second for the good of the country.
10. Stupidity of opposition just to oppose
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (01.25.13)
No doubt Middle East, USA , EU going through heavy weather. That puts Israel in a critically dangerous state till matters settle. National Unity, thus desirable , so I see Yachimovich response as singularly stupid and selfish :
11. Let Labor sit with the Arab parties and Meretz
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (01.25.13)
Shelly will find they have lots in common.
12. choices
john ,   toronto   (01.25.13)
She does not have to do anything. It is the men who have to make the choices. She has taken a good stand. Patience always pays.I hope he does what is good for Israel.
