If the US or Israel attacks Iran, the consequences for both Israel and the US would be catastrophic and the military leadership in both countries know that. In addition, while the political leadership seems to be blind to the terrible consequences, the US political leadership is very aware. If the US attacked Iran, once the consequences hit home in the US and people are starving, the POTUS would be impeached and removed and his replacement would be on his knees begging Iran for forgiveness. There is no such thing as a "surgical" strike against Iran because the Iranian facilities are very hardened and near population centers, so any attack will cause massive loss of life and extreme anger throughout the world.
