1. In a REAL DEMOCRACY the PEOPLE ELECT their leaders directly!
Old Boy System ,   in Israel   (01.30.13)
Peres should have nothing to do with it. The Israeli system must be changed so that the people have full power to choose. The current system affords nothing but corruption, personal favors, personal politics and more old style buy offs and favors. ENOUGH.
2. #1 - which country do you consider has a real democracy?
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (01.30.13)
Americans recently got to vote on either Obama or Romney. Is that democracy? In the UK people vote for a local person and if his party wins then he becomes a member or parliament and (hopefully) represents the people that voted for him. If he doesn't win then somebody that you didn't vote for makes decisions for you. Is that democracy? The term 'political horse trading' means, "I'll give you something you want in exchange for something you want" and that exists in all democracies except very small places that have "pure democracies". What is a "pure democracy"? Everyone goes to a meeting, expresses their opinions by debate, and votes, and every person has one vote. "It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first". Ronald Reagan The Israeli system has it's faults but so do all the others.

7. #5 very good!
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (01.30.13)
Come perhaps as close as it can get! In Switzerland, single majorities are sufficient at the town, city, and canton level, but at the national level, double majorities are required on constitutional matters. The intent of the double majorities is simply to ensure any citizen-made law's legitimacy. Double majorities are, first, the approval by a majority of those voting, and, second, a majority of cantons in which a majority of those voting approve the ballot measure. A citizen-proposed law (i.e. initiative) cannot be passed in Switzerland at the national level if a majority of the people approve but a majority of the cantons disapprove. For referendums or propositions in general terms (like the principle of a general revision of the Constitution), the majority of those voting is enough.
8. election

The country just had an election. Proper procedure must be done to avoid invalid results.
9. Peres prepares....

Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (01.31.13)
the country is basically at war, even if no one will say so. there is no time to waste on fighting over the constitution of the government.
12. Peres prepares to tap Netanyahu - it will take time
Jrebecca ,   modiin   (01.31.13)

13. peace
john ,   toronto   (01.31.13)
When the Jewish people only want peace who is in a hurry to impose war. I forbid bringing war on the people or selling war stocks. the answer to too much spending is not war, the government must learn to function on a shoe string budget and cut spending.
