1. The author sums up his care for Judaism
Sagi   (02.08.13)
in one word, "Shabbat". I sum up my dislike for Judaism also in one word, "Haredim".
2. shabbat is important to my family as well
brad ,   israel   (02.08.13)
It is also something I love about being Jewish. This holy day allows me my wife and children the time that we need to together to bond as a family and recognize how important our jewish blood is to us and special our family is. Shabbat Shalom
3. The brain does not distinguish
Ron ,   Melbourne, Australia   (02.09.13)
Don't you love it - bring some snippets from neuroscience , some researchers and soon the brain does not distinguish between different - how does HE know - god only knows the answer to that (if he happens to exist). I guess the brain cant distinguish between breathing , eating, toilet duties, etc ... stop all and enjoy the expirience
4. What is rest?
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot   (02.10.13)
The concept of a day of “rest” was a revolutionary concept when introduced to the world. It was and is a very important idea but, do we use overkill in our prescribed observance. The rules of Shabbat were established so that no one or animal should perform work on that day nor should we enjoy the fruits of the labor of others. Work was defined as the activities required building the holy temple. Certainly such things as conducting commerce, cooking and making repairs are legitimate areas of work now as well as then. The big problem in my mind is based on what we do for earning a living today as opposed to yester year as well as the concept that electricity is made by human effort which in today’s world does not exist. The ways we communicate and travel are also quite different as some of our means did not exist at the time of definition of work. Shabbat indeed should be a day of rest but has become for many a day of imprisonment. The definition of what is permitted and what is banned needs to be reviewed and update so that Shabbat can become a joyous day of rest.
5. Shabbat
Alfonso Buzlago ,   Tiberias, Israel   (02.10.13)
And everybody should be free to enjoy this day as he /she feels fit. Or at home or away at the beach with his family. Unfortunately many cannot fully enjoy this day as they wish because of religious coercion. Would you like to relate to this unjust this aspect of our day of rest, Rabbi.
6. Shabbat is a human invention albeit a good one.
JMK ,   NYC   (02.10.13)
7. Torah
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot   (02.10.13)
The Torah says "remember the Sabbath and keep it holy" for many this from G-d
