I've done the googling as you suggest but I still can't find any reference to ALL the Jews of Norwich being murdered, as stated in the article.
33. Scarfe head from a pole
Harvey ,   London   (02.08.13)
Scarfe knows not to target the UK Muslim community in this fashion . If he did he would have to employ 24/7 security around himself and his family . Rushdie has a Fatwa on him to this day for Satanic Verses . Unfortunately the Jewish population is an easy and compliant target and Scarfe knows it .

Antisemitism, like other forms of racism, is a broad category, ranging from negative images and language through to persecution and genocide. There is some truth in Gerstenfeld's thesis but this is more to do with the legacy of structural antisemitism built into the very fabric of those societies historically dominated by Christian cultures (e.g. the long use of 'Jew' meaning someone who is miserly, who cheats, etc.). Throughout its history, Britain has not been immune to that. On the other hand, Scarfe's cartoons are in a long tradition of political satire stretching back to the 18th century when it was far more vicious (not towards Jews, often towards royalty). It is quite possible that Scarfe was not being consciously antisemitic but, for us, as Jews, there is a justifiable sensitivity based on a bloody and repressive history. At the same time, we do ourselves few favours if we continually employ the accusation of antisemitism to bludgeon anyone who dares to be critical of actions undertaken by Israeli governments or in the name of 'the Jewish people'.
35. British anti-Semitism
David Clarke ,   Liverpool, England   (02.08.13)
Antisemitism is vile and putrid in all its forms and should be utterly condemned and suppressed. Gerald Scarfe's cartoon although tasteless and unnecessarily gory and graphic in its point and detail, to compare it to the ancient Antisemitic cartoons depicting blood libel is beyond ridiculous, it is expressing legitimate criticism towards the policies of the State of Israel towards the Palestinians not depicting Jews as committing child sacrifice in religious rituals, legitimate criticism of Israeli government policies is not racism. As for those saying Britain is anti-Semitic they should ask Britain's 300'000 strong and growing Jewish population how anti-Semitic Britain is when Jews work in all walks of life as Rabbis, Doctors, Lawyers and even as leader of the opposition in the British Parliament!.
36. #32 Is "all" an innacuracy? Yes.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (02.08.13)
But all those Jews who were *within Norwich* at the time *were* massacred. So maybe a few were abroad. Maybe a few were in a different town. Maybe a few were outside of town, nearby, and close enough to get to the castle. And it doesn't change the fact that every Jew who was *in* Norwich at the time was brutally murdered.

Try getting your facts straight,I'll wager with you that Israel's enemies have killed a lot more of their own people than Israel has in all the wars(started by the arabs). It will be a pity if Israel ever decided to unleash its full force in a war with any of its neighbours.
39. #3 Your 'absolute truth' is both...
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (02.08.13)
lamentable and laughable..and certainly nothing to do with the truth
40. Excellent analysis
Carl ,   USA   (02.08.13)
I would suggest that the root has to do with many Christians continuing to blame Jews for the death of Jesus. This seething, underlying hatred completely blocks their ability to view Israel or Jews as correct on any matter and allows them to support any group of homicidal maniacs that are against the Jewish people. Hence Europe's inability to recognize Hezbollah as terrorists and their continual condemnations of only Israel in every international forum in the face of Arab/Palestinian terror.
41. Geoff: "definition of ALL"
jdc ,   New York, US   (02.08.13)
from Wikipedia: "local yeomanry and peasantry revolted against the lords and attacked their supporters, especially Norwich's Jewish community. On Feb 6, 1190, all Norwich Jews who didn't escape to the support of the local castle were slaughtered in their village. The Jews that did escape to the castle became frightened when the castle was besieged and demands that they convert or die were made. Most elected to commit suicide. Those who did not commit suicide and agreed to convert were all killed when they emerged from the castle."

I can see why Melissa says you are her protege. You are like 2 peas in a pod. 3 peas if we count her other protege Benassi.
43. #42 Why?
Edwin ,   Canada   (02.08.13)
Because, most likely, all three are the same person.

45. Nina #5 Bloody hypocrisy
Jake   (02.08.13)
So, let me get this straight. It's not ok for Jews to build homes on barren hilltops in Judea. But it is ok for the US to conduct drone strikes thousands of miles away in Pakistan and Afghanistan, despite the vociferous opposition of both governments and the heavy death toll inflicted on civilians. Ignorance, in your case, is not bliss.

That is a possibility I had not thought of. I hope you are right. One is more than enough.
47. #4,5,8 and others who believe the Blood Libel
(02.10.13)
Study population figures and see that: The palestinian Arabs have more live births and live longer than any other arabs in any of the other nations The palestinian arabs have grown in population not only well over world average, but over ALL the Arab nations surrounding Israel and in the Middle East. The facts are no lies, but you buy the propaganda which is easily disproven by FACTS
48. To All Comentators
Harold ,   USA   (02.10.13)
The blood libel cartoon was published by the British Weekly The Sunday Times owned by a Jew named Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch considers the cartoon as freedom of speech and everybody has a opinion about something. The only way Netanyahu can punish Britain is to cut diplomatic relation.
49. Murdoch is not Jewish you idiot 48 END
