Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (02.07.13)
the shia terror entity will never renounce its nuclear weapoms program nor it pursuit of nuclear weapons and the ballistic missiles to deliver them. the only solution to put a stop to the iran nuclear terror bomb is military. if the us will not do the job, israel will be forced to do it, regardless of the cost to israeli lives. israel absolutely cannot live a genocidal nuclear armed iran and its proxies.
2. MUCH OF A SURPRISE......................#1
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (02.07.13)
Here,Cipora. On one hand Biden offers direct talks and within 24hours of his announcement, new sanctions are imposed on the oil purchasing customers of Iran. Are you getting the impression that Iranians are so weak to agree to this kind of arrangement with USA? Furthermore, what Israel has to do and will be able to do are fantasies that exist in most of the readers mind in this coloumn. You should know it and know it properly that any adventurism against Iran will mean repercussion beyond your and mine imagination.Might as well give it up.
3. The main is right - listen to him for goodness sake
Bob ,   London UK   (02.07.13)
There is no possibility for dialogue or negotiation - other options on the table are all there are. Listen to him for goodness sake and act before it is too late. It is of no use trying to change his perspective - it ain't going to happen.
4. Islamic Republic's Nuke Talks.
Son Of Cyrus ,   UK   (02.07.13)
Talking to the Mullah Regime is an absolute waste of time, whether direct of indirect. It is about time our naive 'American Friends' realize the fact that with such a dictatorial and irrational bunch of people, the only language that they understand is force. They have been using pure brute force against the unfortunate people of Persia to gain and stay in power. Most of them are theives and have swindled the country out of $Bs. The challege would be to take out their nuke capability without harming the innocent Persian People who very much would love to see a regime change and are in such fear that cannot show their true wishes due to reprisals from the secret services. Persia is the land of Ahura Mazda & Zaratoshtra (Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds). These people have nothing else on their minds except world domination through Satanic Thoughts, Words & Deeds. About time the entire decent people of our planet wake up to the truth and fight such evil.
5. They are playing chess , fooling no-one
Tarbouche ,   Aswan   (02.07.13)
except the stupid USA electorate who put Obama in the White House
6. Will Obama finally get the message?
Maurice ,   Montreal   (02.07.13)
Come on man! These people will not stop until they have the nuclear weapon. And it will be sooner than you think. When will you realize that they are laughing at the US administration. When will you do something more effective than the stupid sanctions? If you wait too long you will regret it!
7. Very Good
TC   (02.07.13)
All their stuborness will make it easier to justify a strike.
8. Communication Theory
Adam Neira ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.07.13)
Interested people, and that should include anyone, should read exactly what Khamenei said. All communication is both a message and a command. I repeat...There is an optimum solution to the Iran/West imbroglio. Which paradigm will prevail for the Holy Land, Middle East and Planet Earth in 2013 and the coming years ? Truth, vision, courage and trust building or lore lies, myopia, cowardice and betrayal of trust. Why has G-d lined up the terrestrial chessboard this way at this time ? The children of the ancient lands of Persia and Israel should be able to share a safe, secure and prosperous future together. A puzzle of biblical proportions presents, nu ? "And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp." - Exodus 33:7

10. Payback time
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (02.07.13)
Why should Iran talk directly with us? We have interfered in their internal affairs since 1953, we keep threatening Iran and harassing them with sanctions and boycotts, and we support the illegal Zionist entity in the Middle East. I am sorry that things have come to this, but we have certainly provoked them, and payback time is coming soon.

talks with America .When America can shake the shackles or sheqels off its foreign policy back talks would work.
13. # 10 $ 12,,,,Right On, why should they even listen to us?
Edithann ,   USA   (02.07.13)
What we've done to them over the years has been a crime and this current declaration of war on them with sanctions is another crime. TATA
14. Look who has come begging for talks
Holy Warrior ,   UK   (02.07.13)
and look who has told them to get lost.. This is the power Iran wields
15. @2 & @14 - Begging for talks
Ben ,   Chutzlaaretz   (02.07.13)
#2 (Mahmood), You are right, an attack on Iran will have significant consequences world wide and especially to Israel and the US, but you are dead wrong in assuming Israel can simply ignore Iran's nuclear ambitions. Those of us with a brain and even minor view of history know better than to ignore someone offering to rid us from the planet. #14 - Yes.. we are "begging" for talks, but that is simply because 1, we apparently value Iranian lives more so that thier own regime, and 2, no matter how necessary it may become to attack Iran, it will be a very costly affair. That we would like to avoid bloodshed and the economic cost is not a weakness, it is simply a sign of sanity!
16. #10, #13 - US offer most likely not a serious one
William ,   Israel   (02.07.13)
but one that needed to be made in order to show Iranians as the obstructionists. Biden's offer was no different than the US' offer a couple years ago - which was also rejected. There has been no declaration of war on Iran - unless you can prove otherwise - and the sanctions on Iran are UN-based, not US-based. Still, with the US as a major player on the global theater - they would be the ones to speak to if Iran wants to resolve this. Neither Russia nor China are helping them out at the moment, and tomorrow Syria will leave their Shia Crescent of influence and Hizbullah comes under heavier scrutiny. As one Israeli politician said - you don't make pace with your friends. Time for Iran's hegemonic actions across the globe to come to an end and for them to become a peaceful world citizen.
17. #12 - Americans remember Iran for its 1979 crimes
William ,   Israel   (02.07.13)
not because of the Americans' friendship with Israel. The Mullahs have a lot to beg forgiveness for, and not just of the US but most recently of Yemen.
18. #14 - you truly exhibit the Arab mentality
William ,   Israel   (02.07.13)
Diplomacy - a Western pillar in government - is considered "begging" to you while war is the only way (of getting your asses kicked, apparently). The US had to make the gesture with the new Secretary of State coming to office and with an option for the Mullahs to pull themselves out of the deeper hole they keep plunging Iran into. What you witnessed was egotistical intransigence and self-proscribed supremacy by the Mullahs, and the Persian people pay the price for it. That's not a source of strength...that a source of weakness. This is the power Iran really wields.

Do you think, a nuclear armed Iran has no negative effects for the USA?
20. US naval battle groups remain off the Persian coast, #14

That Yankee automatic remains pointed at the Persian head every day. We decide whether to pull the trigger or not. Decision time comes ever closer.
21. To Graczek, Mahmood, and the rest of
Koose E Mack ,   NY NY   (02.07.13)
the anti Israel Commentors: En Sh'Allah...within the next five years the US and Israel have the ways and means to become completely energy independent via Shale Oil Fracking! The reserves in both countries are so vast, that in fact they will be able to export oil and gas in huge volumes; equal or greater to Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait....etc. So, if Iran still exists in the next few years...they will have no leverage over the Western World! Let me make this very clear; without Oil...No one will urinate on the back of Iran to put out a fire!
22. When will the Usefull Idiots ever learn ?
Arn.Sweden . ,   Sweden.   (02.07.13)
I Quote from the Debkafile - Biden said Washington was prepared for direct talks with Iran "when the Iranian leadership, supreme leader, is serious". "That offer stands,” he said later, “but it must be real and tangible and there has to be an agenda that they are prepared to speak to. We are not just prepared to do it for the exercise," he said. Comment - It has been done for the exercise of it, for a decade now. Even a Chamberlain would have react at and end . Hopfully Iran would not be the first one to strike !. ' Arn.Sweden.
23. # 19 # 16...as much a negative as India, Pakistan, France,
Edithann ,   USA   (02.07.13)
UK, China, USSR, Israel, and anyone else... And look,.....we're all still here, We've already 'declared war' on Iran..What the hell do you think those draconian sanctions are for?? THAT'S WAR!!! When was Iran ever designated an 'enemy; ? Did the UN declare Iran an enemy or did Israel? ...Did the USA declare Iran an enemy? This is all madness instigated by Israel to get Americans killed again! TATA
24. Your imagination #2 IS very limited
Abu Yusuf ,   ME   (02.07.13)
If you had a slight imagination what Israel can inflict on Iran if things get bad Just imagine.
25. Iran shows off too much.
Russian boy   (02.07.13)
When country try to glorify its army and ability and create an image that they are a supper power, in fact they are nothing. They should have learned a lesson from Sadam, Bin Ladin and others.
26. Israel's options
Syd Chaden ,   Palermo Calif USA   (02.07.13)
Anyone who takes the time to view a map of the Middle East can see the proximity of Israel's enemies, and the ease with which Iran could move nuclear weapons into lethal range of Israel. Iran has no need for ICBMs to mount a nuclear attack on Israel. There is little point in discussing the effectiveness of retaliatory strikes, since an initial nuclear strike on Israel would destroy it. In view of such a stark threat, what options does Israel have to assure its survival? To pacify Islam and its followers who preach death to the Jews and the destruction of Israel? To get the US, or Europe, or the UN to do anything effective? Or, to preemptively attack the Iranian nuclear facilities with nuclear weapons. Of those options, the only one that has any potential effectiveness is the preemptive nuclear strike. It that was done, then the US, and Europe, and the UN would all condemn Israel and it would be a pariah, sort of like it is now. The alternative is that Israel is destroyed, and Obama makes a speech condemning the attacks on Israel "in the strongest possible terms." That would not bother Iran, since a nuclear Iran would become the leader of the Muslim World. Pick one.

30. # 23 perhaps you have forgotten...
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (02.07.13)
when Iran stormed our embassy and took hostages? The madness is people like you and graczek not being willing to admit that Iran is the enemy and blaming all the worlds problems on Jews and Israel. You two would have been quite at home in Germany during the 30's and 40's.
