1. Liberman should get finance Lapid foreign
zionist forever   (02.09.13)
I don't like the idea of Lapid controlling the purse strings, he can't be trusted and will probably take advantage of controlling the money to promote his pet projects which will help him win the next election which he has made clear is his priority rather than whats in the best interest of the country. Prefer that to be in Liberman's hands because he will work with Bibi. Liberman is also a lousy foreign minister, he really doesn't know the first thing about diplomacy whilst Lapid knows fluent english. The only time Liberman is really the ideal candidate is when it comes to foreign affairs issues with Russia.

Lieberman for FM
3. #1 I couldn't agree with you more
the mad zionist ,   san francisco   (02.09.13)
the last positron id want lapid is the treasury. and the last positron id want lieberman is the foreign. lieberman has been one of the worst foreign ministers, not the worst, one of the worst. the Palestinian issue is much simpler if you didn't publicly say the things he says. we allknow the Palestinians would never accept peace with Israel. so why say what he says? you can just say "we want peace, the Palestinians shouldcome to the table right now" and they would never show. and if they did nothing would happen, or they will reject like they have numerous times. but lieberman doing what he does worst, diplomacy, makes Israel sound like they don't want peace. in actuality I agree with Lieberman, but being a foreign minister, you gottabe sinister at the same moment being pragmatic. not Liebermans strong suit. lapid would pull what Obama pulls, building pet projects through the treasury and causing a tidal wave to roll in his favor for the future. hedoesn't belong there, but the sad truth is both men want the wrong positions and it will be that. politics suck. it's a bummer that favors are the name of the game.

Lieberman should get Prison. Lapid Foreign!
5. Mr Mockery
Keren IL-BR   (02.09.13)
This is man is so incompetent. It is a shame to have him representing israel.
6. I love Lieberman's talk, straightforward!
hippocrates ,   earth   (02.10.13)
I am famboozled about ayalon however. that was unwise for the country and for himself. Hopefully he can backtrack; every politician in the world and every man or woman in the word has the right to do that once...
7. Corrupt Lieberman
David Clarke ,   Liverpool, England   (02.09.13)
Avigdor Lieberman presents an epitome of what is wrong in Israel to the outside world at large, he is an open Arab hating Far-right racist, financially corrupt and lives as a squatter in an illegal settlement beyond the Green Line, as foreign minister he has done nothing but kept his hands in the financial trough whilst basically slandering the diplomats and politicians of every foreign country but Israel, on Earth, as being anti-Semites and racists, he has contributed nothing to the Peace process, which he openly scorns, hates, and impedes at every opportunity and has contributed to the erosion of not only Israels relationship with the US but has destroyed Israels image in the eyes of the Global community and contributed to its ever increasing isolation, for the sake of Israel Livni or Lapid should receive the post of foreign minister, someone who is committed to peace and dialogue with the international community and who is committed to a two-state solution.

Lieberman has been an excellent FM. He knows pretty well that the world is inherently anti-Semitic; that the vast majority of European countries did help Hitler in the Holocaust, and would do that again if thy had an opportunity. So Lieberman is just a realist: he knows that the best diplomacy tool is the IDF formidable might.
9. He means when he gets out of prison

10. Liberman is right on one point
Alan ,   Canada   (02.10.13)
There are many things one can object to Liberman but on his view of the impossibility of peace with the Palestinians in current & foreseeable future conditions, he is quite right. And it does not rest only on the present turmoil in the Muslim world which he highlists. A set of even longer term factors are precluding a reliable & lasting peace. They are education, religion & poor economies whose symbiotic interaction reinforce non democratic regimes. And there is never a safe, reliable agreement to expect between a democracy & a dictatorship, especially of the fanatic religious kind which regards extermination of adversaries as divinely ordered. Rational dialogue & fruitful negociation are oxymorons between parties with such huge gaps in human values. Changes in the Muslim world are indeed taking place but social & economic trends are very slow to show advances especially when long term economic prospects are poor.
11. Lieberman ... oy
Ed ,   USA   (02.10.13)
So ... Lieberman states a peace treaty with the Palestinians is not possible, then he goes on to say the next move in diplomacy is for Abbas to make? What kind of move should he make if there is no hope for any results? And people wonder why Israel is loosing credibility?

You represent the epitome of the fear, that Israel might finally be doing what is right for Israel and not for England or France, etc......Just because Liberman is a conservative, as well as a patriotic defender of the right of Israel to exist within their current and legitimate borders, doesn't make him "the epitome of what is wrong in Israel to the outside world.." And you have a lot of "nerve" to deny Israel the right to own the land of Judea and Samaria: land, that was always Jewish historically, as well as deliberated over defensive wars.. Lieberman was equited so far..Either way, it is not of your concern..And I think, that whatever makes people like you agitated, is probably good for Israel...
13. Lieberman's games
Max ,   Vienna, Austria   (02.10.13)
Uff! I can hardly remember an FM as little visible as him - and I can't remember an FM less diplomatic than him. I may only imagine that he wants this portfolio for its prestige - but what has he done for the land, when he was "serving"?? It's clear why he wants Yair doing the finance ministry - it's a hard task, that only few succeded in politics, after serving in this portfolio. One of them is Netanyahu. Clearly Liebermann wants to see Yair running against a wall, with this suggestion. Yair is not a man of finiancial politics - but he is a well educated autodidact, knowing how to address people; to bring the message, in Iwrit as well as in English. He is a communicator, a mediator, the perfect man for being Saar haChutz. If Lieberman's trial ever finishes, I wonder what portfolio he may take? He doesn't know finance, nor defense, nor security, nor would I like him to serve as Sar haPnim... He is quite a burden for Netanyahu and the future coalition. When ever he is prominent in the headlines, one reads he is against something - what kind of politics is it, without vision, without reaching out to the "other"?

Lieberman has a degree from the Hebrew university (Jerusalem) in political science and international relations. He does know: how to speak with both: friends and enemies.
15. I think it would be a good idea
Sagi   (02.10.13)
to make Porush or Eichler FM so that the world would hate us a little bit more.
16. Liberman speeks truth to power
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (02.10.13)
liberman speeks his mind and that is why he is despised. the princlings of the diplomatic corps, wherever they are, and whoever they are, need to know that what liberman says out loud is what many of us really think.
17. #1 Mr. Lieberman was a great FM
Jay Abouaf ,   Jaffa Israel   (02.10.13)
He opened up and expanded our ties with Africa and Latin America. His thinking was original and effective. And believe me, Israel gained respect and strength in the eyes of the World, precisely because Mr. Lieberman was blunt and honest. For him Human Rights was important , not diplomatic doublespeak.
18. 1 zionist forever
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (02.10.13)
lieberman's purpose is precisely not to engage in classic diplomacy. his purpose is to rub the noses of the eurocrats, the washington elites and the much alligned third world into their huge hypocrisy. it must be understood that diplomacy can bear fruit only if there is a minimum of good will on the other side. otherwise diplomacy becomes an exercise in humiliation.
19. 8, exactly, very well said

israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (02.10.13)
Why prison, what did Lieberman do? Weinstein admitted that after 13 years of unprecedented investigation, Lieberman is completely innocent of any corruption or financial crimes. Weinstein indicted Lieberman for not telling Netanyahu that he flushed a piece of paper down the toilet, and indictment that was withdrawn as soon as Lieberman resigned and asked for a quick trial. If you guys have some secret evidence, please give it to Weinstein as soon as you can.
21. AVIGDOR LIEBERMAN.

IT IS UP TO THE ISRAELI PEOPLE, PARLIAMENT AND GOVERNMENT IF LIEBERMAN BECOMES FOREIGN MINISTER AGAIN.

Lawbreakers like Lieberman should be banned from holding any public office. Shame on Bibi. By the Shame in Shas for allowing a convicted bribe taker to be on their list.
