1. The Disgrace of Rabbi "wise"
Zechariah   (02.13.13)
Rabbi Abraham Wise was also a good enough man but withheld in disbelief the Genocide Reports from Switzerland from The Author of The Final Solution G.Reitlinger in August 1942.There is more .In the spring of 1941 he stopped Emergency Food Parcels delivered by the Red Cross in Loyalty to his Master Franklin Delano Roosevelt as a General Boycott og Goods to Enemy occupied contries depriving Starving Jews of some supplementation.Idont know the exact future but I know what "wise"did .
2. Bad Choice…
Colorado ,   USA   (02.13.13)
The man is a total wreck--emotionally, mentally, politically. He will be a fine puppet for O--which is the idea.
3. Republicans love money, not Israel.
Mark ,   Cleveland USA   (02.13.13)
The Republicans, who seemingly love Israelis (and rich American Jews) more that they do regular middle class Americans, won't seem to accept the idea that the days of no bid contracts and war profiteering may be on hold for a while. How dare this Hagel talk peace! Bibi wants war... the Republicans want war. Everyone stands to make a few shekels in the process (those missiles and jets cost a ton). What's so bad? Down with Hagel! Down with Hagel!
4. 14 to 11 is far too close a vote ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.13.13)
... to warrant appointment. It guarantees an emasculated Hagel, who will have to fight tooth and nail for any issue coming before the Senate (and likely the House) -- before losing. The United States deserves someone much less controversial in a position as important as the Secretary of Defense. Moreover, Hagel's views are far too murky, and he is -- as the Senate hearings proved -- dismally uninformed and unwilling to answer questions with honest answers. There are better candidates out there. And this is said with the American side of my heart; not the Israeli. Israel will do what it wants, with or without Pentagon approval. But in these trying and very critical times, don't the American people deserve a Secretary of Defense that actually knows what he is doing?
5. Can we blame "Jewish Lobby" for "intimidating" US Congress?
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (02.13.13)
“To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.” -- Voltaire
6. Hagel is a total incompetent
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (02.13.13)
hagel's incompetence and lack of intelligence are alarming given the huge job of secretary of defence. obama chose him for this very reason. obama the narcissist cannot abide intelligent people. shame on the democrats for supporting this man. they have put party before their nation's interest.
7. Done deal from the start. USA's done too....
tom ,   tel aviv   (02.13.13)
8. "US Defense Secretary, not Israel's Defense Secretary"
Expat ,   Adelaide   (02.13.13)
Israel wouldn't be an issue in the Senate's nomination of Hagel, if Hagel didn't make it such an issue to begin with in the past.
9. To: No. 5
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.13.13)
Can we blame the NRA for intimidating the United States Congress, which is why there are no effective national gun control laws? Can we blame AARP for intimidating the United States Congress, which is why there is no means testing for Medicare eligibility? Lobbies do what lobbies do. You're stupid if you don't recognize this, and your use of the phrase "Jewish lobby" is both pejorative and incorrect. A great many senior officials in AIPAC are NOT Jewish. Your hatred and ignorance knows no bounds.
10. #9: Don't use big words
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (02.13.13)
like "pejorative" when rebutting the "testimony" of the Silver Bay B.I.G.O.T.
11. #5 interesting idea
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (02.13.13)
Considering that Israel is the most criticized nation in the world, you can't be talking about us. So how's about we ask Kurt Westergaard, Salman Rushdie, Lars Hedegaard, Hitoshi Igarishi, Abdullah al Ahdel, Gianni Palma, Aziz Nesin, William Nygaard, Ettore Capriolo who you can criticize and who you can't?
12. To: Astronaut at No. 10
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.13.13)
I'm Jewish. Where I come from, "pejorative" is not a big word .... Maybe someone can purchase a dictionary for the Silver Bay bigot. Assuming he knows how to use one.
13. Lighten up
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (02.13.13)
Lighten up, Sarahleh; I was being facetious (another "big word" for the SBB/SilverBayBigot). But let's not trifle over vocabulary at this most critical time in Jewish/Israeli/American history. signed, a Right-wing, Conservative, Jewish Woman. Mono Labe.
14. D student
Brod ,   USA   (02.14.13)
What kind of people would nominate and approve a D student to sit in an Office that requires an analytic mind? Is America being pushed to become a Third World country. Even Third World countries will not accept D students to be in such high level positions in government. This is pure idiocy.
15. To: Astronaut at No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.14.13)
I know you were being facetious. By the way, I think you might mean "molon labe."
