I remember 2 years ago when an earthquake hit Van-Turkey and I was sad because I know what earthquake feels like. it was very sad time for us. and then I saw something on TV that made me cry... I saw that Israel sent us-Turkey humanitarian aid.. not just some prefabric homes even they sent jackets for cold weather, after all those bad moments, curses against Israel... and I didn't see any aid from arab countries or iran.! I agree most of this article, but you forgot to mention the 45 years long military control of 4 million Palestinians. It is the main reason why Israel is under scrutiny. It is the reason why even many Jews dislike Israel. Fix that, and I'm sure you are loved again.

Dear Sarah, I was not writing about Arabs. Many of them will hate you anyway. I was answering the question why you are under scrutiny of UN, US and EU. The writer forgot the main reason for your scrutiny, the military occupation, no matter what you think of it. Most of the people in the world have lived under military occupation on some time in history and we have learned to hate it. As long as you build fences, checkpoints and settlements without peace agreement, you will be hated. I'm sorry to say that, but that is the core issue.

Have you noticed the dearth of suicide bombings lately? That's because of the fences and checkpoints. What about Gaza? Israel withdrew completely, yet 25,000 missiles have been fired at Israel's civilian population from Gaza. The settlements are built on non-sovereign land, reacquired by Israel in the course of fighting a defensive war against Jordan. Israel has every right to settle, keep and even annex the land -- it is, after all, non-sovereign. How do you account for the persecution endured by the Jews in Europe before the modern State of Israel was established? There were no fences, checkpoints and settlements then, but Jews were slaughtered in the tens of millions. The core issue is anti-Semitism. That's all it is. I suggest you look within yourselves rather than blame the State of Israel.
