1. French to UK
Mark ,   London, UK   (02.24.13)
There is free movement of citizens of the EU. We're told that wealthy French people will be coming to London to avoid high taxation imposed by the new French government. St Johns Wood is a very afflient part of inner London. If they are adding services in Shabbat services in French the driver might just as well be economic rather than anti-semitism in France. I can't see anything about this on their website. It seems like an orthodox synagogue, aren't their services in hebrew?
2. Any place but Israel...sad.
(02.24.13)
3. In vain ?.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (02.24.13)
There is only one place by HASHEM intended for HIS Chosen People. I cant understand why that is so difficult to understand. Jews will always be Vagabonds in the World, just because they are Jewish. If they try to forget they are Jewish, the World will Reming them of their Ancestry. More Antijewishness will come !. Arn.Sweden.
4. Just goes to show, that we all dont aliyah to Israel when we
(02.24.13)
are able to go to somewhere like London, and continue to live modern 1st world lives and earn a living. Also, we are only a train ride from Paris to see family and friends. My son and daughter moved to London last summer, they are doing very well. They are dating local Jews too.
5. Things have to change in first place.
Avouskila ,   South America   (02.24.13)
People today have a great tools and resources to analyse the individual situation. Gone are the sugarcoated sipourim of Nahum Goldman's yeshuv mythology. Israel establishment has to show to prospect olim (A.B. Yehushua will gladly call them while making such a commitment: FULL JEWS) that as a Sepharad or Ashkenaz you'll find a proper political milieu that will share your cuktural, political and economical aspirations. There is China, India, Africa that will be receptive to great many Jews that wish to avoid at all cost (and I admire them) from continue having any affinity with the gone for good European continent. There are not going to make the Alya under the current impass in Israel.
6. Aliyah
Lorne ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (02.24.13)
Those of us who made Aliyah recently didn't do so because we were fleeing our countries of origin. We didn't move to Israel for a better economic future. We moved to Israel because we want to live among our People. Those of you full of disparaging remarks and negativitiy can stay in your countries of origin, we have enough Dreck in Israel already.
7. Why run to UK?
Jean ,   Rehovot   (02.24.13)
What's so much better in the UK? The place is over crowded with illegal immigrants living off the British tax payers, anti-semites and Islamics who are born and bred to kill Jews.
8. st johns wood?
(02.24.13)
You need a pretty penny to live there. Where do all the working class Jews go. Now take a reality check. Are they the wealthy trying to escape the tax laws?
9. What a laughable article, no data, no statistics
desi ,   planet mars   (02.24.13)
no numbers, no interview to back up the claim. And you know why? because it's simply not true. Why then does Ynet publish some nonsense? you guess. there are very few french in london actually,80-90000 no more, but they occupy super high positions so it's like "jewish lobby", people are going to overestimate their number. Poor Ynet, once journalism, now jam to the pigs.
10. #1 Mark
desi ,   planet mars   (02.24.13)
you don't find anything for a simple reason: the article is complete bullshit. and the idea that some wealthy french are leaving to London is crap as well, when they do it's to monaco, geneva and brussels, not london...where there are very few french actually. Now what you find in the newspapers (and why)...
11. to #5 : stay away
israel paratrooper   (02.24.13)
dear #5 : when the first settlers came to israel , they drained the marshes with their own shovels . my grandfather worked 12 hour days in the fields in jezreel valley . israel is for those who believe in it as a homeland for the jewish people . it is not some tax haven
12. # 2 Sad NOW but.....
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (02.24.13)
Should Israel build enough affordable homes, watch Israel grow liek wildfire. One way or another, Israel will eventually be one of the few safe havens for Jews. History repeats itself and in these harsh economic times, anti semitism mushrooms and masses faster than locusts. BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME.
13. French Refugees
Phil ,   NY, NY   (02.24.13)
From pan to fire.
14. To No. 7
Bertram ,   London, UK   (02.24.13)
Why run to the UK? Don't really know but the Jewish population is pretty stable there. In 2010 only 523 out of a total UK Jewish population of around 260,000 made aliyah. So, I guess the image you conjure up is not one generally recognised by the UK Jewish community. But, what do they know? They only live there, whereas I am sure you have a much more accurate picture.
15. According to the Ministry of Immigrant
Robert Haymond ,   Tekoa, Israel   (02.24.13)
Absorbtion in Israel, there are approximately 100,000 French Jews residing in Israel at this time with about 2,000 arriving each year. Given the increasingly higher taxes in France plus the fearful waves of attacks on Jews from the huge (10% of the French population) number of Arabs, mostly unintegrated, the probability of a ramped up immigration to Israel from the 500,000 Jews residing in France is very likely. This will continue to be of benefit to Israel as the French are very interested in learning Hebrew, educating themselves according to Israeli standards and working in Israel not to mention the influx of wealth.
16. #7Jean
ky   (02.24.13)
Sorry to disappoint you. No killing of Jews here . Life is good, We get on fine with everybody . Far, far better, than living in the grey concrete town of Rehovot. Jews are citizens of the world not just Israel and we will not be driven out by scare stories or threats. In fact I would feel sorry for you if we were because you need us here as much as we need you there.
17. London is a pleasant place
eva goldschmidt ,   frankfurt am main   (02.24.13)
In London you will find many venues where you can continue your accustomed lifestyle: good schools, good universities, Jewish lifestyle and jobs. In Israel people are mildly spoken impolite and have no or rough manners. For many of us Israel is only a holiday destination.
18. #9 and #10. We French in London are plentiful, we have
Chloe   (02.24.13)
Our own local French news papers, local london French radio, French speaking synagogues, French banks and businesses and So on. We even have Hebrew newspapers! Imagine that.
19. #17 great talkback..
Jonny   (02.24.13)
20. #9 the source was a reputable news article.. Dooh!
(02.24.13)
21. Israel realistic lifestyle choice
Andi ,   Israel   (02.24.13)
London is a good destination, but so is Israel. Israel is no longer an unlikely destination only for Zionist ideologues or misfits, but a serious lifestyle choice. We in Israel have plenty to offer from economic opportunities ( not easy but it depends on expectations and adaptability), to recreation, culture, fantastic weather, high personal security to spiritual fulfillment. Any one dismissing Israel because the people are less well mannered than in the UK, would probably also dismiss the UK because of football hooligans and bad weather-all stupid generalisations. There may be some French choosing London, but they are also moving here in great numbers, and for good reasons.
22. Out of the frying pan, into the fire (end)
Eric R. ,   USA   (02.24.13)
23. #14 out of the amount who make aliyah, who return?
Leon   (02.24.13)
Many go to find a boyfriend/girlfriend and export them out of Israel... Fact..
24. Europe is not a tenable continent
Reuven   (02.25.13)
for Jews to live in. In the future, Europe will be living under Sharia.
25. #23 Leon: Perhaps you could do some
Robert Haymond ,   Tekoa, Israel   (02.25.13)
research yourself and report back to us at Ynet. As to the "fact" which you are reporting re Aliyah, it would be helpful if you were to point us towards the source of your "fact" other than your own opinion. You do appear not to possess any scholarly ability and, furthermore, you appear to be lazy. At any rate, I'd be glad if you proved me wrong.
26. What is all this "instead of aliyah" nonsense?
Serge ,   Montreal, Canada   (02.25.13)
That talkbackers eager to transform any shred of "evidence" into more anti-Zionist propaganda think that French Jews are moving to the UK "instead" of Israel -- well, it's faintly ridiculous, with a touch of irony. Have any of them ever actually *been* in Israel in the last few years? There has been a huge wave of French aliyah. Also, French moving to other places. That's what happens when one of the diaspora's biggest Jewish populations heads for the exits -- multiple destinations.
27. #22 could be worse, it could be USA, home of KKK and no Jews
Josh ,   Sydney, Australia   (02.25.13)
No Jews allowed country clubs. Wasn't there some foiled bomb plots last year against temples in NYC? A shooting at a Holocaust museum in Washington.. And a shooting at a temple in LA. You Americans, you forget your own headlines. It doesn't help much when 70% of you don't have passports to even visit anywhere else around the world and see or hear what faraway lands are really like.
28. Jump from the fyring pan
Sam ,   Texas   (02.25.13)
Into the fire.......Europe sucks big time, just make Aliyah, that is the best way to go for the Jews, who everyone wants to exterminate, like forever
29. French Jews fleeing to UK
Harold ,   USA   (02.25.13)
Why UK and other European Countries. Israel was created as home state for all the Jews. Make Aliyah and be safe as the Israelies are now.
30. to number17
julia ,   telavi v israel   (02.25.13)
