1. the future
tiki ,   belgium   (03.02.13)
The good thing about the 'future is that it is unpredictable. What looks to be 'hot today may not be an item at all when those 'next future leaders will become leaders....if at all.
2. Legitimate criticism of Israel's bad behavior in Palestine..
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (03.02.13)
...is not Right wing racist, nor is it Left wing "new antisemitism"... The chicken and the egg are two different things, what came first is the real question. One is racism, the other is legitimate criticism.
3. Correction
Bertram ,   London, UK   (03.02.13)
It really doesn't help your argument, Mr Hendel, if you print a blatant untruth. Oxford University Students Union voted overwhelmingly against the boycott. Another case of not spoiling a good story with facts.
4. Yoaz Hendel: Please check your facts!
David ,   Israel   (03.02.13)
Ynet Hebrew 28 February 2013: Oxford Student Unions rejects boycott against Israel!!!!!!! See the Guardian, the Huffington Post, Jerusalem Post, Ha'Aretz; 69 against, 10 for and 15 abstentions!
5. TRUTH is not anti-semitic. BDS should be expanded to all
James   (03.02.13)
israeli products.
6. Millions being spent…
Colorado ,   USA   (03.02.13)
In universities and schools in the US and UK to promote Islam and anti-Israel thinking.
7. colleges
Calvin C ,   united states   (03.02.13)
the "prestigious" colleges in the united states are nothing more than indoctrination camps for the youth, remember in ww2 the "prestigious" schools in ca gave germany the idea of eugenics, how did that work out for the world
8. @5 where is the Syria BDS BS start? Non-existant?
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (03.02.13)
9. Distortion of TRUTH to support anti-Israel hatred is bigotry
Brian ,   San Diego   (03.02.13)
lies and anti-Semitism. BDS is nothing but a hypocritical extremist anti-Semitic agenda that has totally failed.
10. #2
Howard ,   Seattle USA   (03.02.13)
You are wrong as usual. Its ignorance and age old anti semitism which you know oh so well.
11. 4
(03.02.13)
the author did not say whether oxford passed the resolution. hew just gave an example of a resolution that was introduced in oxford as a bds against israel. that is all. he never mentioned that it was passed. he just mentioned that IT WAS INTRODUCED...INTRODUCED!!!!!!!!! ONLY.
12. Theri new problem is defending the "pigs and apes" crowd
GZLives   (03.03.13)
and THAT they will NEVER do ... Standing behind this BDS crowd are the very same people who use rhetoric describing Jews as "descendents of pigs and apes" and the left cannot support them. People need to constantly be reminded of the rhetoric being used out there and its not about "Zionists" as they would have many believe - its about the Jewish people
13. But you're forgetting one thing...
Vlad   (03.03.13)
Israel's trade is gradually shifting from Europe to the Far East. Israel-China economic relations are already booming, and by the time there is any political will to impose sanctions, Israel won't be affected. China will be the second superpower, and India and Russia (two semi-superpowers by then) will also be major trading partners. Also, Israeli military dependence on the US is declining, and US aid is likely to be phased out this decade. Israel will be far more self-sufficient by the time these students are in power.
14. I see all the usual, antisemitic suspects here. The point is
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.03.13)
that the article is basically right. Just as today we are to some extent victims of the mindless 60's "revolution" (which gave us great music, but also large numbers of Useful Idiots like Chomsky, Tom Friedman ...) so the future generations will suffer from the poison that's being spread today at these "Universities". Don't forget: the fact that these sick motions are being rejected (for the time being) doesn't mean, that some of this crap doesn't stick. I am certain that Mr.Benassi has his doubts, concerning Christian children's blood being added to matzos on Pesah.... not so, mein freund?!
15. Next generations
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.03.13)
Well, the best way to prevent what the author fears is for the issue not to reach "next generations." In order to achieve that, it needs to become a non-issue. The best way to make something a non-issue is to make it go away. Judea and Samaria need to be annexed NOW. The ersatz "Palestinians" need to be repatriated to Jordan NOW. What, is Israel supposed to be held hostage to international opinion? So, what happens should international opinion decide that there should not be a State of Israel at all? Are we prepared to embolden the international community to that degree? There have been major population transfers before. Where were the crocodile tears when two million ethnic Germans were booted out of East Prussia? Czechoslavakia? Other countries? Where were the crocodile tears when over one million Italians were booted out of Istria when Istria was ceded to Yugoslavia? Did anyone weep for the Okinawans when the United States booted nearly two million of them to other Japanese home islands? For that matter, what was the international community's reaction when nearly one million Jews were expelled from their homes in Arab and Moslem lands with little more than the clothes on their backs? So we have a choice. A clear one. We can knuckle under to international opinion, leaving us vulnerable to a future international demand that Israel simply cease to exist, or we can assert ourselves as a sovereign state and determine our borders -- achieved through fighting a defensive war -- and demand that the international community apply the same standards as are applied to other sovereign states who emerge victorious in a defensive war. We control the land, and we determine what happens to populations resident therein. In our case, it means that the ersatz "Palestinians" resident in Judea and Samaria must be repatriated to Jordan, country of their citizenship. Again, I remind everyone: West Bank Arabs are NOT stateless. The creation of Jordan itself is quite probably the most outrageous abuse of international law that the British ever perpetrated, and they have perpetrated quite a number so that is really saying something. It is time for Israel to put an end to the nonsense. We have given back the Sinai, and we have ceded over Gaza. To what effect? We will NOT dislocate one half million Jews from their homes and lives in the West Bank. Sinai and Gaza were difficult enough. The BDS movement will fade away and disappear as soon as the problem of the West Bank disappears. The ersatz "Palestinians" can take over Jordan (the monarchy is in near collapse, anyway) and govern Jordan right into the sand. That's what they do. That will give the international community something to focus upon, and Israelis can -- finally! -- live freely in safety, dismantle the wall and drive safely in their own country. It has to be done.
16. cancel palestine, create peace
david ,   boston, usa   (03.03.13)
I think if you presented enough of the facts, most people would start thinking pro israel or reveal their racist anti semitism. Personally, I don't understand why the world should creat another arab palestine. Isn't jordan enough? It seems normal international rules and laws don't apply to the arabs. The un is about politics, not right or wrong. Heck the arab governments have done more harm to the arabs than anyone else combined. Why do they continue to keep their on people in camps? Its purely for political reasons, nothing about taking care of their own. Golda meir was right and her words still are. I feel sorry for these arabs who have the leftists, un, and arab states preventing them from having dignity and a bright future
17. People - we are doing it to ourselves!
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.03.13)

19. Actually, the global leaders of the future are
spyguy ,   seattle, usa   (03.03.13)
attending universities in China, where they care a whole lot more about Japanese Nationalism than about whether Israel exists. Note also that the students in the US, UK and Europe are reacting to Israel's ACTIONS, not Israeli talk. No amount of Israeli propaganda can hide the reality of Israel's ACTIONS. If you do not want to be isolated, then CHANGE YOUR ACTIONS because with modern communication , your words are destroyed by your ACTIONS.
20. To # 9
Stan ,   Israel   (03.03.13)
See article about Separate buses, Yes, Apartheid is now here as it was in South Africa.
21. #8 Is not mine, I agree with #5
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (03.03.13)
22. Both BDS and the occupation are indefenseable
Avramele   (03.03.13)
One delegitimizes a people the other dehumanizes us all. Hendel's last line of defense is that hating Muslims is a good way of changing the subject and deflecting criticism of Israeli policies.
23. #2 Proportianate, yes, But so far there's never been such.
Alex   (03.03.13)
When I see any legitimate and proportionate criticism, which would critizise palestinians atleast as equally responsible (which would still be an understatement) for the conflict I'll become religious and praise the lord. But now there's just racism, propaganda and deligitimization seen.
24. Transparent Hatred.
JR ,   Australia   (03.03.13)
The goal of BDS is to delegitimise Israel. What's the goal of delegitimising Israel? Seeing Israel destroyed. That is the goal of BDS. Israel is not perfect but I don't see these people delegitimising Australia or the US or China or Turkey or Iran or Russia for their treatment of indiginous populations. This blindspot highlights the campaign's true intentions and motivations.
25. When THEY
Cest la V   (03.03.13)
start liking us, THAT'S when we're in trouble. We must be doing so much so well and SO successfully, to incur so much jealousy. For THEM to like us we'll need to be downtrodden, unsuccessfull and cowered . Thanks to Gd and to our ongoing amazing achievements, that just isn't going to happen. You sad, frustrated creatures, get a life.
26. Students have been exposed to anti-Israel lies for years.
Abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (03.03.13)
This is true regarding the propoganda of the Arabs being pushed aggressively in the Universities. Anti-Israel activities have been going on for about 30 years and we are merely talking about it now ? What is Israel doing about this ? Israel Hasbara seems slow to react in order to counter anti-Israel teachings or anti-Israel events. This slow Israeli reaction to counter anti-Israel activities is not good at all. There should be a centralised body whose dedicated sole purpose would be countering Arab propoganda and also nipping it in the bud. Arab propoganda is continuously ongoing and strong and it always coming up with new and newer anti-Israel material. Israel and freinds must be pro-active regarding the lies against Israel . There is no time to waste !
27. *5 James
Fiona   (03.03.13)
Truth isn't anti Semitic . Distorting it out of jealousy and hatred certainly is.
28. To: No. 5
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.03.13)
I hope you never need chemotherapy, James. And throw away your cell phone. All mobile phone technology stems from three patents -- owned by Israeli companies out of a joint venture with Motorola. ALL MOBILE PHONE TECHNOLOGY. Well, I'm sure you can find two tin cans and a VERY long piece of string. Best throw out your computer, too. Better than half the chips contained therein were developed in Israel. Wow, isn't BDS going to be fun for you! Well .... you DID say all Israeli products, did you not?
29. #26 - ACTIONS speak much louder than propaganda
spyguy ,   seattle, usa   (03.03.13)
No amount of Hasbara can hide the reality of Israel's ACTIONS from the world. When will Israelis realize that they can no longer "control" the messages, especially when the messages are not based on reality. The whole world can see what Israel is doing and many do not like it. If you want Israel to be accepted and respected, then Israel's ACTIONS must change. If Israel continues on its current course of actions, the global reaction will just get worse until Israel even loses the US. Yes, I know there are many Israelis that think they can lose the US and still survive, but they are not thinking very well.
30. Iran and Saudi and Nazis
Iranian H   (03.03.13)
The problem is that those propaganda and boycott movements are sponsored either by single individual out of religious / racial hatred cloaked with political protest. BUt the real big elephant is the saudi and iranian money that promotes all the anti semitism and anti Israel movement. Not to mention the neo nazis are desperate to hate jews to the point they would ally with islamists arabs who they themself hates after the jews are gone (if they can). Not to mention some soviet remnants are still anti semites. Many socialists are pro Israel though. Most of the anti semites seems to be from the far left / far right anarchy types, neo nazis, islamists, soviet anti semite.
