1. Wow, sounds like these slackers are really in a pickle......
Hillel ,   Israel   (03.02.13)
They try to twist things this way and that to keep their status quo but they are obviously running out of excuses. Why can't they understand... NOBODY is against heredim or Torah. We are against the their lifestyles.... Why should everyone else support them? We support our families. YOU should support yours. WE serve in the army. If you want to live here YOU must serve too. Don't like it? Leave the country. See if any other country will support you.
2. It's not hatred towards haredim...
Eli ,   Raanana   (03.02.13)
...it's just that you have to start getting up early and going to work. I know it is painful, but one can get used to it.
3. Claims of hatred is absurd. Makes Likud nd Haredi parties...
R ,   Jerusalem   (03.02.13)
look dishonest, fearful and irrational. We should have new elections. Likud showed their true colors by bringing in Livni's party. That was unforgiveable.
4. Exclusions: Haredim and Women
Michael ,   Haifa   (03.03.13)
If the Haredim believe that they have the divine right to exclude women from public places, they should not complain when secular parties exclude them, democratically, from being in the government.
5. Labor and International
Zechariah   (03.03.13)
Labor and international Populist Pressure can stop immediate settlements in anticipation of Peace Plans the Arabs will reject.right of Return the Jordon Valley Iran ElQuedi The Islam Brotherhood and Ba'ath Ideologues will reject every thing even Labor Offers .the Meretz Plan is civil War and Habayit Hayehudi will boost the BDS greatly .
6. Second Hand Information
Cheryl ,   Chicago, IL   (03.03.13)
This seems to be second-hand information, according to the way this article reads. Let's get the all facts straight before we are ready to judge. Naftali Bennett said, "I will not evict Jews from their homes." I like that, considering what happened at Gush Katif, etc., but let's first make sure we get our facts straight, rather than from second-hand information.
7. Lapid's right
Jeff ,   USA   (03.03.13)
it's a breath of fresh air that someone's finally doing this
8. 2
Moshe   (03.03.13)
Have you met any Haredim? They really don't have horns under their kipa. They also don't use blood in matzoh and they also happen to get up early to pray with sunrise.
9. Lapid & Bennett R RIGHT, Ishai OVERABUSED of his position &
Big Mouth ,   On the face   (03.03.13)
Above all he is NOT fit 2 B minister.
10. Lapid spks how to help majority.Ishai only speaks anti Lapid
Adi ,   Zurich   (03.03.13)
Lapid spks how to help majority. Ishai only speaks anti Lapid.
11. Yishay´s words are outrageous!
Keren ,   IL-BR   (03.03.13)
It is he the villain and not Bennett . What is he saying? Is he menancing Bennett about the settlement enterprise? Bennett is the religious Jew and Yishay is the scoundrel ,if we follow Yishay´s words. Is settlement enterprise something that goes in the direction of Torah or the opposite? If it goes in the direction of Torah ,as it does, what is this men menacing?Isn´t he supposed to do the same as Bennett and fight for the Land of Israel? He is indeed the heretic in this whole story and not Bennett . He and his party do not care about Torah but about money. They are scoundrels and no one else!
12. part of ISrael
Ilana   (03.03.13)
If Haredim are a part of Israel, then they should also take part in what all Israelis should take part in. Nobody should get extra rights, nobody should have a a lighter or no burden. Nobody's kids should have to sit in classes of 40 while others get funding for classes of 15 with meals.
13. Shas is talking drivel; it and other chareidi
pinchas ,   boston   (03.03.13)
are the ones fullfull of hate, not Lapid. (In psychology, it's called projection.)Lapid is a mensch, as is Bennett; but YIshai, Deri, Gafni-- they are a trio of primitives as far as I and most Jews in Israel are concerned. One more thing: Many chareidim not only do not work, serve, but despise the state and never pray for its welfare. In the last mini-war,some of their cultic rabbis were delighted that no rocket fell in Bnai Brak, but they didn't give a sh--- if rockets fell in Beersheba, etc. In short, they have a deserved reputation of being selfish parasites which fact negates all their Torah study and prayer, ESPECIALLY since all that study and prayer contain no ahavas yisrael, no genuine concern for Klal Yisrael, Tsahal or the Medina.
14. Number 1
Moshe ,   Uk   (03.03.13)
1) Other countries do. In the uk, even during world war 2 when they needed every eligible man to fight the nazis, they exempted men who were 'of the cloth'. English yeshivah students were permitted to study Torah full time. Unfortunately it seems that sometimes a foreigner understands more than an Israeli. P.s there are also English yeshivah students returning to England to continue their Torah study ( being supported by the English government) because they are fed up with the abuse they get there. 2) it was 'chareidi' Jews who came to settle in Israel already 300 years ago and spent their time in full time learning. It seems ironic that you have probably not been in Israel for many generations are telling them to okay by your dukes or get out.
15. 2
Albert   (03.03.13)
Have you met any Haredim? They really don't have horns under their kipa. They also don't use blood in matzoh and they also happen to get up early to pray with sunrise.
16. Soon next elections, I'll vote Bennet this time
Yossef   (03.03.13)
last time I voted Bibi...
17. Lapid is counting his chickens...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.03.13)
before they are hatched. At the 2nd elections, the silent majority will give more power to Bibi, because they d rather have a center right government than a center left one. It is in the interest of Lapid and the Haredim to compromise. Since those who want it all, will just have nothing. Bibi is a master in compromise, that s why he deserves to be the leader of of ALL the Israelis.
18. 2 Eli Haredim are working a lot more
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.03.13)
than the Secular. They have zero free time in the week . Tora study and taking care of their big families is a full time job. Moreover most women are working outside their home.Somebody has to be available for the children. Thanks to them ,Israel has a Jewish majority. Both societies should talk to each other to understand each other s needs and compromise.
19. Habayit Hayehudi is about more than settlements
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (03.03.13)
Habayit Hayehudi wants to bring about the social & economic change that will help all Israelis. As long as the haredim are in the government, who are leeches on society, this is not possible.
20. Bennett is not honest
Eliahu   (03.03.13)
He took votes from the Right wing and is now behaving as a Left wing politician.
21. "Most of my friends are Jews"
Avouskila ,   South America   (03.03.13)
Its desingenous and too too rich for Mr. Lapid to go around and declare himself as Torahfile. Now, I, and sure the majority of the secular Israelis, also love the Torah considered as a masterful document of the Jewish civilisation, promoting solidarity and tolerance. Though I am no religious by any stretch of imagination I do have great respect for those who follow a life style dictated by their own interpretation of the Book. A politician who claim to a national responsibility that include the fair shot at the fullfilment of each and every citizen to her/his desires, Yair, has definetly failed at all level to show comprehension of his election. What Yesh Atid does not realise that beyond the prejudices the reality on the ground is quite differen. The numbers of people we call Ordoxes, the Ultra, the Haredim and all the other green variety the Jewish civilisation has formented and inspired throughout its history and who supposedly do not carry their weight in the name of Social-Responsibility decible is very small. I said before and I said here again, I don't wish Shas to enter the coalition at this stage of Israel political transformation, not a revolution ,mind you,t but a beguinning of great changes. So they and some others have to set aside to let new blood get into the corpus knessitium. We need that, but Lapid shouldn't behave as if he were an emperor (least he might avere to be plain naked emperor) and demand clean slate in the government that everyone should follow order, because, so he believes his reality is the one that matters, and all have to go fishing..
22. Shut up
David ,   On this planet   (03.03.13)
New and old leaders Shut up already and start acting like adults. This bickering is so immature, enough already.
23. Well said, #1 Hillel!
Vered, Israel   (03.03.13)
24. how scared they are to loose theis status quo
Markus   (03.03.13)
I hope so much they finally will be out of government! Also because they strangle people by their GODless rules. They don't follow the Thorah, they don't even understand it! And Yishai is trying to kick out friends of mine, just because they are christians. I am a christian too, so will I be next? I rather see them out! May GOD bless this country will a new government, which is doing GODs will.
25. Responding on their fb page, spare us
eli ,   nahariya, israel   (03.03.13)
The tail wagging the dog. When the most serious leadership issues this country has faced in our history is being batted back and forth on our facebook pages... leadership has died.
26. hatred and distrust ruined us once and
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (03.03.13)
It seems that hatred and distrust will ruin us again. It is so sad to see a country that has borders will sworn enemies who wish to destroy it, yet can not get along with each other. This is what destroyed the ancient Jewish state and seems to be doing well in destroying our small state.
27. it is getting funny to watch
Mira ,   Vienna   (03.03.13)
how desperately the Haredim try to cling to their priveleges! And Bibi certainly has got something to hide or is it just that he too is desperate?
28. Lapid is Olmert's poodle
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (03.03.13)
lapid is simply a demagogue. it is ironic that he attacks the haredim for not serving when he never served in combat, but only as a reporter. zero experience lapid reminds one of zero experince obama and his destruction of america. lapid, if given a chance, will do the same to the jewish state. bennet, for his part, is betraying his own roots and ideology. the only winners in this sordid affair are obama, the europeans, the arabs, iran, russia, china and the non-alligned countries.
29. Go Lapid! Why we voted for you!
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.03.13)
LAPID: "Moreover, I think that our world would be more meager without Torah study. This doesn't mean they cannot work or enlist in the army, but Torah studies are one of the basic principles of 'Israeliness' and we have no Jewish existence without it." versus YISHAI: "we are not a group external to the Israeli population – we are a part of it. " - but not in the IDF, not in education, not in taxes or family support, not in gender equality, nor acceptance of others' rights to live their own life in their own style. Choose your poison.
30. 21 BRAVO Avouskila !
