1. Terror threat?
schneckerl ,   Tel Aviv   (03.03.13)
“We retaliated in our own way, and only the Israelis know what we mean. Retaliation does not mean missile for missile or bullet for bullet. Our own way does not have to be announced,” he said. Should this be considered a direct terror threat against Israelis abroad?
2. This syrian civil war
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (03.03.13)
looks me like the spanish civil war in 1930's. Nazis supported Franco openly with arms, western nations remained silent and inactive. Today's actual antisemite country is Iran, instead Germany.
3. Assad has a death wish
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (03.03.13)
syria has been defeated in every war it has fought against israel. assad's threats are those of an immature, delusional man.
4. Syria
Peter ,   South Africa   (03.03.13)
I have a rotten feeling, that all these arab nation are just getting together for a full out assault on Israel, and they can stop this war is Syria if it is a chance to bomb Israel, I am sure Israel knows this and is just waiting to take action against them
5. Bashar Who ?
Haim ,   TA   (03.03.13)
6. British FM Hague summed it up a few minutes ago
David ,   Israel   (03.03.13)
He called Assad delusional!
7. Hague wishes tob topple him.Israel does not threaten
Alan ,   SA   (03.03.13)
to topple him What will Assad do to UK for this. No he threatens Israel!! Go figure!
8. Please Mr. Assad Tell us what is on your mind
Sam Sweiry ,   Eastbourne - UK   (03.03.13)
After killing Thousands of his own people - Now Mr. Assad telling us - He want to punish Israel - Of course - one can say anything - but he knows his time is up!
9. speeches to try drum up support for a strong president
zionist forever   (03.03.13)
The only thing the Syrians hate more than Assad right now is Israel. If Assad threatens to take action against Israel if it carries out airstrikes in Syria then he looks like the strong president who will not let the old enemy of the Syrian people carry out military operations in Syria. A speech isn't costing anything and if it turns even 1 person to his side then its a victory.
10. Too frightened to fight IDF so his "way" is to kill
Alan ,   SA   (03.03.13)
innocent unarmed Israeli Jewish women and children or Tourists or Jewish Worshippers somewhere in trhe World BUT NEVER TO FACE THE IDF
11. Syria
Syrian   (03.03.13)
Please just get rid of him, they guy i nuts....he is disliked by all of us. The Syrian people is proud and aware of the lies that has feed over several decades, but are held hostage by this assholes to leaders. We want good relations to all nations including Israel, we the young Syrians that are educated is who you Israelis (leaders) should talk to if you want peace, stability and a bright future. Syria has always been a secular country and should remain so.
12. #4 Peter: Yes, and South Africa will support the Arabs
Dee Bee ,   Karmiel, Israel   (03.03.13)
Maybe South Africa should ask the Arabs, particularly the Palestinians, to help them solve its water problems after breaking ties with Israeli Universities. Apartheid has been replaced in South Africa by Antisemitism and Zuma and his cronies seem to have forgotten that many Jews fell foul of the Nationalists and had to leave or go to prison!
13. Wake up Bashar
Haider ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (03.03.13)
He lives in a fantasy world, but his opponents are just as badly suited to run the country. In order to save himself and his family he should, today, seek refuge in another country.
14. He is so soft spoken. I didn't expect that.
(03.03.13)
15. Only problem?
John ,   Herzliya   (03.03.13)
Don't you have any other worries in this world besides Israel?
16. Well looks like the plot to overthrow...
Chris.B ,   Australia   (03.03.13)
Assad and replace him with a Israel friendly regime has failed. So the first thing Assad will do is make sure hezbollah is armed to the teeth with any advanced weapons they like. I'm sure Russia will be more more than happy to turn a blind eye to the transfer as well. After the Israeli incursion, revenge will be SA-18 anti aircraft missiles for Lebanon.
17. Assad is forgetting ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.03.13)
... that in 2007, Israel destroyed his budding nuclear dreams by flying clear across his country AND NEVER BEING DETECTED. If Israel chooses to do something again -- good provocation; all those mortar shells falling into Israel -- Assad can rest assured that he'll never see us coming, either. Syria is Israel's bitch. The Syrians -- both sides of the conflict -- would do well to keep that in mind.
18. Best of luck to you, and I mean it.
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (03.03.13)
I agree with your statement. The young are our future and as soon as we can talk to one another, in peace, the better. Secularism is the only viable way to separate religion with the governance of any nation. May G-d help you and those of your countrymen yearning to be free from tyranny. Shalom.
19. # 4 Peter relax
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (03.03.13)
as of now the Syrians, Egyptians, Turkey, etc. and Lord knows how many other Muslim nations are sitting on a powder keg with their own people, killing them with impunity, much less attacking Israel who could pretty much make them useless for another 100 years. ( minimum) Remember, G-d gave this land to the Jews, since 1948 He has protected them and defended them on their land. If they did attack, it would most certainly be their last attack.
20. What after Assad?
Toledano Jean-Pierre ,   Israel   (03.03.13)
If Assad is falling down, I will shed no tear. But, what's following: a Sunni, Moslim Brotherhood government. With Egypt, Hamas in Gaza, Soedan, Tunesia, Turkey, maybe later Jordan,… we will be surrounded by fierce anti-Israel, anti-Zionist and anti-Jewish regimes, the most no better than El Assad's Baath Alawi regime. And... don't forget Iran, Irak, the PA and Hezbollah. We can always hope that the different Arabic countries prefer - like they did in the past - to see each other as competitors or as enemies rather than as allies.
21. Assad threatens Israel
Brod ,   USA   (03.03.13)
Assad is going to end up like Gaddhafi soon. And he has the temerity to threaten Israel. Perhaps he is planning to move Saddam's hidden WMD stored in Syria to Hezbullah and get Hezbullah to rain Israel with WMD. Israel should help the Rebels to complete their job quickly in liberating Syria from Assad's tyranny.
22. A sad Assad
Get Real ,   UK   (03.03.13)
These are the comments of a desperate dictator who knows he is losing his grip on power, the people are turning against him, the west is becoming more open in supporting the opposition etc He resorts to the age old Arab ploy of condemning the west and threatening Israel, diverting attention from the reality in Syria and anxious to retain the support of Iran. He says he fights terror yet shows he is part of the Iran and Hezbollah axis. His military is incapable of defeating the rebels or of facing Israel, rebellion or not, so he tries to show he is powerful and tough by speaking of 'other ways' of retaliating, which all know are meant to imply terrorist attacks against Israelis abroad. In the meantime the Syrian people suffer as he prolongs their agony.
23. No Neighborhood is Safe Anymore
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (03.03.13)
An LA Times editorial a few weeks ago said, Israel now involved in Syria, caus it bombed a military convoy of weapons to Hez and a "reseaceh" ( chemical, factory). That's involvment? Syria is a puzzle for Israel and the West.Whule Assad is myopic ( should work for Kaiser Permanente instead they need opticiians), would a rebel takover (with Al Qaeda present) and MB loyalities, be better? As long as Arab kills Arab, who cares..its inevitable in their long history, of fighting and killing in lieu of compromise, negottation and civility.Jihad also pertains to them. ( Will they cavort with 52 virgins for killing one another I wonder? But all hate we Jew swhether in Israel/Diasora and our Evangelical suporters. Syria is allied with Iran, Hez and Hamas's MB. but they really dont want anther hot adversary with Israel right now. In 73 they emasulcated IDFers caught..but had their airforce destroyed with 1 Israeli loss The US is aiding the rebels with medical and foodstuffs..not enough to make a difference in the war. while Russia China and Iran give it atate of the art weapory. Carter lost Iran, and Obama is losing Iraq and AFghanistan and Egypt. Will Syria gain or lose due to our non-involvement excet pleas from Hillary and now the turncoat Kerry (recall he threw his medals at congress while our boys were being killed in Vietnam when we were winning, as Scheen says. Bottom lne: Syrai may attack Jews worldwide..but we aint exctly push overs either..once we wake up that our lives are in danger. Dont count on the ultra-Orthodox howver. .Unlike 73 no neighborhood is safe anymoe.
24. #17 "Syria is Israel's bitch"
Thessalonian ,   Canada   (03.03.13)
Firstly I would like to aver that I am not pro-Assad and that I have no affiliation whatsoever with the Syrian conflict. Furthermore, I have always been pro-Israel and remain as such to this time. Having said this, I would like to know who's "bitch" are you dear? Regards
