Israel is not America or Europe. There are secutrity issues .....duh ! Stop comparing oranges wiht apples. It only shows your ignorance of Islam

Jorge ,   Mex   (03.04.13)
you mean like how the Jews have been thenically cleansed from Malmo ?
33. #25 A of Belguim
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (03.04.13)
And Israel recieved $3 billion in military aid alone. Your point being?
34. MK Gal-On: "Segregated buses based on ethnicity..."
William ,   Is   (03.04.13)
But they are not segregated based on ethnicity, they are segregated based on citizenship and population size. Pallys have both their own bus line and can use the regular bus line, if they choose. There is no segregation but the Pally-only buslines serve only that demographic which have different needs and come from different geographic areas. if anything, these buses are discriminatory against settlers who are NOT allowed to ride the Pally-only buses.
35. #2 - until you become a target of Arab terror
William ,   Is   (03.04.13)
Not an issue of settlers not liking Arabs. The majority of settlers have decent working relationships with their Arab neighbors. But we are in a tense war situation and there is a growing unrest and use of terrorism by Arabs there, so prudence should take priority. However, Arabs are still allowed to use all bus lines while settlers can only use select bus lines, contradicting your point entirely.
36. how about you close down the ALL the bus's in the west bank
Stuart   (03.04.13)
then let the PA sort out the mess if they can. As for the settlers give them a licence to run private coaches with pickup points inside the settlements. Dont think thats racism just selective client choice
37. #11 - sure it is
William ,   Israel   (03.04.13)
If both populations receive the same high-class service. Usually in segregated bus lines of the 1960s, Blacks received sub-par service and were thrown in jail if they rode on the "white-only" bus. Here, this isn't the case. Arabs can ride on either bus line. Only Jews can ride on certain bus lines. It's discriminatory against Jews but the Left screams "racism against Arabs". And once in Israel there is segregation at all. You should feel remorseful for your knee-jerk reaction based on nothing more than conjecture.
38. The truth: Palestine is the real racist apartheid state
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (03.04.13)
An Arab can get a job in Israel. A Jew cannot get a job in Palestine. An Arab can buy a house in Israel. A Jew cannot buy a house in Palestine (and anybody who sells the Jew a house is put to death). A Jew cannot ride a Palestinian bus. Arabs ride buses in Israel all the time. A Jew cannot go to a Palestinian university. Israel's universities are full of Arabs. Do you get the picture? Who are the racists? Where is the real apartheid? Palestine.
39. Little by little, step by step,
Runner1983 ,   USA   (03.04.13)
the current situation with the Palestinians becomes more and more untenable. Israel is going down the slippery slope towards a society that is an anathema to western society, and should be an anathema to Israeli society. Actions such as this latest involving separate buses for Palestinians plays into their game plan - further proof that Israel practices apartheid. And it appears that the leadership of Israel doesn't realize this, or just as bad, doesn't care.
40. Buses for Palestinians
Harold ,   USA   (03.04.13)
Apartheid, Apartheid, Apartheid. Soon a sign will be hanged stating NO DOGS NO PALESTIANS. Apartheid, Apartheid, Aparthed
41. #20 - Salma cries censorship

in a post, after many of her other posts, on an Israeli website. How's that for ironic? Still having trouble grasping reality, after all this time.
42. #24 - most of your taxes go to fund the IDF
William ,   Is   (03.04.13)
and support social services for the majority of Israeli citizens inside Israel. The amount to settlers - that you deem illegal when infact they are not - is not very large at all. If you have an issue with social services inside Israel, then do something about it instead of writing a post. If the $$$ for settlements were spent inside Israel not much would improve, but the costs to the IDF for having to secure the Green line and stop terrorism without being present in the West Bank (as in Gaza) would increase dramatically overshadowing the savings you claim is wasted in your name. And when Jerusalem is attacked, who will be the first to cry and demand protection at any price?? You.
43. #33. Simple
A ,   Belgium   (03.04.13)
Israel has bus lines, the "palestinians" apparantly don't. Instead of allowing Fatah and Hamas to constantly steal the handouts from the EU and US for their own selfish and corrupt purposes, they should force their so called "elected leaders" to do something for THEM, the people, instead of blaming Israel for everything and anything. They DO want to be an independent state, don't they?
44. To: No. 33
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.04.13)
Get your facts straight. Israel's total foreign aid package from the United States is $3 billion. The overwhelming majority of it takes the form of joint venture investment capital. But don't let the facts stand in the way of your hatred for the State of Israel. Perhaps you are confusing Israel with Pakistan and Egypt, each of which receives $3 billion in military aid annually, while the United States receives nothing in return -- unless you think that Pakistan harboring Osama bin Laden for a decade counts.
45. The best way to make this a non-issue ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.04.13)
... would be to simply revoke all ersatz "Palestinian" work permits. Let them find jobs in the ersatz "Palestine" Authority. (Tee-hee.)
46. amazing
rm ,   Amsterdam NL   (03.04.13)
reading some of the talkbacks on this issue makes you wonder if there isn't any sanity left. I think Israel's proud online defense army should pause a second and think clearly.....are this kind of measures really worth defending? Don't you realise what Israel is ever so slowly becoming? And where does it stop. First it's the arabs, than it's the women and in than the non-secular jew..... and what are you going to say next time the subject of apartheid is coming up?
47. #44 Sarah B
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (03.04.13)
My facts are straight and you confirmed them. Israel recieves $3 billion of American taxpayers money every year, the form it takes doesn't matter the fact is Israel recieves $3 billion per annum from the American taxpayer, and this does not include extras such as loan guarantees. Dress it up however you like, oh and Egypt gets $2 billion in return for playing nice with Israel. So you could say Israel gets the benefits from that to, seems a bit daft to me to give Israel $3 billion because Egypt attacked it over 40 years ago and $2 billion to Egypt per annum so as not to attack Israel, with both countries spending said money arming themselves to the teeth. 9/11 showed it doesn't contribute to the safety of American taxpayers who of course are picking up the bill.
48. #35 William
Barney Rubble   (03.04.13)
What are you talking about? 9/11 7/7 3/3 multiple beheadings of western hostages, Algeria last month, multiple terrorist attempts are all imaginary are they? Fact is we are targets of arab terror, being targetted by Arabs is not the sole property of Israel. Damn even Argentina has been targetted. Want to try again?
49. got a bus jew free and they angry ??? odd.

50. The Truth
Leah ,   Israel   (03.04.13)
The truth of the matter is if you stand outside kalkiliya you will see a sign saying to Israelis that it is forbidden and dangerous for Israelis to enter the town. So why would Israelis want to travel on buses with 'dangerous people' These people get on the bus in Kfar Saba to the machsom and many times there are ten, fifteen, seventeen Palestinians on the bus and then the Jewish residents can not get on a bus and have to wait sometimes over an hour for the next bus which if it comes full of Palestinians they still wont get on. There could have been an easier way to help everyone and that is if Afikim had put on many more buses which they did not do. Many of the buses are unbearable to be a passenger in, you can not see out of the windows, the a/c more often or not does not work and you simply feel you are dying on the hot stuffy bus. They break down pretty often etc too!!!
51. #46 "the subject of apartheid"
A ,   Belgium   (03.04.13)
Maybe start by reading some of the history of South Africa and how first the Cape Colony and later, Transvaal were taken over by the Dutch (who fought the English) in order to EXPLOIT the regions resources and labor. The Dutch were against "gelykstelling", which later led to apartheid. In short, the Dutch, English, Germans and others who settled in South Africa were invaders and oppressors, who looked upon the native population as an inferior race. Jews, however, have always had a civilization in Israel, while arabs came as slaves of the Ottoman Turks. Arabs are not looked upon as an inferior race in Israel, they hold places in Israeli government, jobs of importance, etc., which blacks in S.Africa never could. So next time the subject of apartheid comes up, hang your head in shame.
52. Buses, unrest, a never-ending cycle of negativity
Stuart ,   London/TLV   (03.04.13)
It seems to me after reading this article that at the moment the Palestinians are not being discriminated against as they can travel on all buses. For the moment. But let's face it, it won't be long before it is deemed necessary to restrict their movement for means of security. I can't help but feel that if there were no Israeli settlements built in the West Bank there would be less of an issue; a right to be there, a homeland, I understand all the reasons why they SHOULD be allowed there. However in the 21st century a balance needs to be found and opportunities to reduce tension should be sought - i.e. stop building in areas that will almost certainly create difficulties and reduce the likelihood of problems, of people needing bullet-proof transports, and the reduced likelihood of Jews being upset at having to travel with Arabs. The overt racism seen in talkbacks on here is shocking - many of you don't like Palistinians, we get it. Inflammatory comments aimed at degrading whole communities are irresponsible. Looking at a lot of the language used the contributors appear to be intelligent beings, however the rhetoric seems to fly in the face of this. However Sarah B's posts seem to be less offensive of late so there is clearly progress in some places.
53. No "racism" /"apartheid", PA have no "right" to enter Israel
L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (03.04.13)
Typical Reuters and leftist fraud to describe Israel's anti-terrorist measures as "apartheid". There are not 2 groups of Israeli residents involved here, the PA residents are not citizens of israel, and have no "right" of entry of israel or to work there to begin with, they are foreigners, and hostile foreigners at war with Israel to begin with. They are losing the PRIVILEGE of bus travel on buses with Israeli people because of their own threats and violence. Israel has every right to exclude them from israeli travel, and to transport them on buses on which no Israelis are riding - or NO BUSES AT ALL. If the PA Arabs don't like this, they can simply elect to not work in Israel. Or the PA can provide them with transportation. When has the US ever allowed enemy aliens to ride on US buses, planes, trains or taxis???? With or without US families on board. Or even to work in the USA. NEVER!! Where are the Taliban on EU buses? Another leftist/Reuters propaganda campaign, based on journalistic fraud. I await the PhotoShopped photos to go with the articles.

More hasbara crap ,...
55. Racism ?
marian ,   Romania   (03.04.13)
Where is the racism ? Both groups are Semitic. One group speaks the language of the land (kanaanean), the other speaks a language from the dessert. Only time will solve the problem and 'relaxation' is the only solution.
56. #47 - some very egregious flaws in your argument
William ,   Israel   (03.04.13)
Yes - Israel gets US aid - still a very small amount compared to the entire US aid package which John Kerry recently claimed was "not a gift but a direct result of national security". How and why Israel and other nations get aid money resides in the halls of the US govt themselves, but it not a gift. Aid to Israel is SOLELY spent in the US which makes a big difference. It's exactly the same as the previous stimulus packages industries receive in order to bolster jobs and the economy. Here, 5000 American families and a dozen States benefit directly from US aid to Israel. Are you prepared to cancel that based on your personal agenda? Israel does arm itself and it needs to, lest you forget the past 65 years and the constant threats on it now. Israel is the only nation being threatened with extinction on this planet - the ONLY one! Loan Guarantees cannot be included in any equation because there is no tangible dollar value attributed to them. It's like asking a parent to co-sign a student loan for their child. They pay nothing from their pocket if the student pays their bills. And for decades now, Israel has always paid its bills so the risk is NOTHING. US aid to Egypt is not just to play nice with Israel even though peace in the region supports US national security and can be leveraged in the rest of the Arab Middle East where oil, a major component of the US economy, exists. However, Egypt arms itself not because of Israel or external threats but to subjugate their own people. This while the US govt says they support democracy, which is ironic.
57. #40 - all fear-mongering and conjecture
William ,   Israel   (03.04.13)
"Palestinians" get their own bus line and can use all other bus lines. How is that "apartheid"?? Blacks in the US South in the 1950s would have loved that option. And once in Israel, "Palestinians" use all transportation, restaurants, etc. as Israelis do. Your post is reflective of your own defunct argument.
58. What if the roles were reversed??
William ,   Israel   (03.04.13)
What if "Palestinians" demanded a new bus line because they feel threatened by "settler violence"? That's exactly the same thing as this and would constitute the same "discrimination" claims but I would guess B'tselem and the Left would not just be in favor of it, but demand that Israel fund the entire thing with brand new buses, additional services as the "Evil Zionist occupier". It's all in how you present it to these cretins.

yeah, yeah, trust a Brit to pass judgement on us. Of course there is no racism, ageism (or however you spell it) in good old jolly UK. At least in Israel you know exactly where you stand, so unlike in your country where everyone pussyfoots around for the sake of the British stiff upper lip. Take a long hike Stuart.
