Hands down, she was counting on remaining in the United States. She could almost hear the adulation. She could not count beyond the number of personal appearances on television talk shows (not to mention counting the accompanying cash). She was likely already writing speeches for the innumerable university campuses she was going to visit (not to mention rubbing her greasy paws, counting the amounts of the copious honoraria). Except she now gets to return to Egypt in disgrace. No one is interested in her story any longer. No one cares about her so-called "plight." She's a younger version of Helen Thomas, is all she is. Both destined to a great deal of regret for what might have been, had they not mouthed off. Helen Thomas couldn't help herself -- she's old and senile. Ibrahim is young -- and will spend the balance of her life in misery in Cairo, knowing she blew it all to hell all by herself. I hope her defiance and refusal to apologize will sustain her in her future as a drudge in Cairo. She has no future there -- never did -- and now has no future anywhere else.
