1. Should have been Scrapped
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (03.10.13)
This white elephant is just corporate welfare. Should have gone the way of the dodo a decade ago. Nothing has worked as promised. Nothing on time. Only makes sense if you plan on invading the USSR or China.
2. flying boondoggle
Steve   (03.10.13)
The F35 is an a/c without a mission. Vulnerable to ground attack, not as stealthy as originally planned, the loudest noise signature of any fighter currently in U.S. inventory, not compatible with data sharing systems used by NATO equipped Eurofighter and Rafal, and a price tag which now approaches the F22 which was shut down due to cost overruns but remains superior on every front. Kelly Johnson would not have approved.

We should bring back the Israeli Lavi
4. So the Yiddishe kopf will have to sort things out?!
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.10.13)
Bring back the Spitfire!
5. USA going down.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (03.10.13)
Down and down. Israel has closed some of its own industries in order to benefit USA industries export... I hope that these slumbering leaders of Isreal wake up and smell the coffee already.
6. A poorly conceived design!!!
Taz Man ,   USA   (03.10.13)
But, if any country can right-the-wrong, it'll be Israeli ingenuity!!!
7. Okay
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.10.13)
Israel will fix the problem -- as we have with numerous issues with respect to American weaponry -- and let the U.S. manufacturers know all about it. For free. Something wrong with that, I must say. Time for Israel to start charging for fixing American mistakes.
8. Back to the drawing board..
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (03.10.13)
Is someone drunk? And this folks is the best we American's can do? I doubt it.
9. The chinese hacked in and STOLE the plans, they will know
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.10.13)
all the flaws, figure out how to fix them and build a good plane. Buy F-35s from the chinese, cheaper and better.
10. F-35
Jon ,   Niles,IL   (03.10.13)
The GE RollsRoyce engine was supposably scrapped by the Pentagon in favor of the Pratt and Whitney engine. So why are both engines listed in the diagram?
11. send this crap back to uncle sam before being stolen END
JOE ,   KFAR SABA ISRAEL   (03.10.13)
12. Israel, start to build your own plane.
Shalom` ,   U.S.A.   (03.10.13)
13. don't forget
Daoud ,   Yemin   (03.10.13)
Israel is not allowed to install its own upgrades on this plane - and was not a developmental partner because of objections by Turkey.
14. your newspaper.
marcia levy ,   ft lauderdale/netany   (03.10.13)
do you ever have anything good to say about Israel?
15. It was a mistake to even consider an unproven aircraft
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (03.10.13)
Until the F-35, *every* aircraft Israel has procured was already in production and in service. This time they decided to be on the "bleeding edge", and they are paying the price for that choice - in price, capabilities, and delivery time. It's really sad to see what's become of the US capability to field advanced aircraft. Back in the 1960s and 1970s the US was able to develop and field multiple lines simultaneously. Now there's only one aircraft in development and we can't even get that one right. Folks in the IAF are supposed to know better, but lots of us were concerned going with the F-35 was a bad mistake. If it's not too late to cancel, perhaps Israel should go with something like the F-15SE as an interim fighter while it works with others (India?) to build its own next-gen fighter.

Rhonda ,   Chicago, USA   (03.10.13)
Thanks for this info. I had thought that if Israel is stuck with it, then her engineers and IAF pilots will try to fix it but with the info you provided I guess that's not possible...
17. Do we really need this expensive fighter jet, I think not.
Wise Saba ,   Western Negev   (03.10.13)
It's about time we developed our own fighter jets.

zionist forever   (03.10.13)
For its own needs the US should consider restarting the F22 program. Its more expensive but as you say the F35 is approaching that cost but the advantages is its formally recognised as the best fighter in the world and its already operational rather than in the design stage. If the US is looking for its next generation aircraft for the next 30 years+ the F22 is a better investment.
19. Don't buy it.
Roberto ,   Montreal   (03.10.13)
I know that israel wants the latest and the best, but under the circumstances, it's only the latest.
20. Have peace agreements by 2016 and save the bucks.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.10.13)
Take the easy way out, Israel. Who needs the noise, the air pollution, the perishing pilots? Spend the money on carousels.
21. White Elephant
Brod ,   USA   (03.10.13)
When Obama cuts the defense budget by the billions of dollars, quality of its hgih tech weaponry goes down the drain. This plane has become a White Elephant that is flawed and untested in the battlefield. It should be scraped instead of endangering the lives of the pilots.
22. If Iran can do it
Ben ,   Rockville, MD USA   (03.10.13)
I am sure USA can do it too. Just look what Iranians developed in few months and showcased it
23. Flawed design+ too expensive !
trump   (03.10.13)
Bring back the Lavis or buy SU33s from Russia as stop gap move Future belongs to UCAVs in any case and BH Israel is among the leaders in that field . Even canadians are contemplting cancelling F35 e\and replacing them with Boeing super hornets
24. Bunnie # 9
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (03.10.13)
The Chinese are great at copying things but not so great at coming up with original equipment of their own. You usually get what you pay for and the Chinese are no exception.
25. Why dont israel make a plane w india ?
Frenchie   (03.10.13)
Why dont israel make a plane in collab with india instead ?
26. Israel & F35-
Get Real ,   UK   (03.10.13)
Project costing billions US$ and years to develop only finds problems with headrest during test flights! Perhaps Israel should have been included in project from beginning and should certainly have a say,as intending purchaser , in the upgrades, irrespective of Turkey. Or better still start building, completing, modifying these herself. But don't give up developing the missle weapons and systems
27. Jobbing
Hymen ,   Bulgaria   (03.11.13)
Buy one or two at a discount. Let Israeli industries fix the problem and sell the solution back to the US at a prophet.
