1. OMG! Heredim have spit on & banned other 90% of Israelis....
Ralph ,   Israel   (03.10.13)
And they have the chutzpah to play the victims?!!!!
2. Lapid is no man
Fad Egypt   (03.10.13)
he doesnt keep his word, thats great, that means 10 minutes before the sworn in, he can change his mind !!!! i am afraid that he is just wasting time to prevent Bibi from becoming PM and forcing new elections !!!! also, i ve noticed a very terrible thing that Minister Uzi Landau who is considered the best minister in the outgoing government wont be appointed in the next government, thanks to Lapid stupid conditions to limit the number of ministries and thanks to Bennett alliance with Lapid !!!! shalom
3. the fact is that we do not know the truth.
Eli ,   Raanana   (03.10.13)
I'd like to hear what Bennet and Lapid have to say about this. I'm glad Deri is not going to be part of this government. He is a criminal and it would be a shame for the country to have a minister who just got out of prison.
4. From a distance the view is clear.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.10.13)
They must have read my comment here when the "agreement" with Netanyahu was announced last week. I warned that Lapid and Bennett were falling into a trap. Now I am glad to see it only was merely a trap limited to the premature announcement by Likud-Beiteinu. Netanyahu was at his best, playing the media card again, but he failed. Like many in Israel I can see clearly from California that Lapid and Bennett have the responsibility to straighten out Israeli social problems in the next four years. After that the time will come to tackle the income disparities in the most polarized economy on earth, Israel. Israel is a very divided society today, replete with unequal responsibilities, eaten from within by a small minority which is hogging the budgets for its settlements, society that is destroying its own middle class, a society being abandoned by the educated and talented for better opportunities overseas, society on the brink of a civil war. These are the number one problems for Lapid and Bennett to fix.
5. Lapid & Bennett - partners in extortion, or is it blackmail.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.10.13)
Yeah! They are happy to keep the country in limbo as they throttle Bibi. There are just too many parties that cause the splitting of the votes so the majority party ends up scrounging around to find coalition partners while the nation twiddles in frustration. Just go back to the polls and hope for a clear winner - even if it takes 4, 5, 6 attempts. That's better than scrounging and pleading.
6. so much for new politics!
julie ,   israel   (03.10.13)
Lapid changes his mind, cannot be trusted & his agenda is only to topple Bibi. Shame on you! You do not care about us!
7. Fad Egypt (#2), I agree with you!
Vladimir ,   Yerushalayim   (03.10.13)
The polls predict (according to the leftist mass media) that Lapid would get 30 places in the Knesset and Likud only 22, should the elections take place now. It really seems that Lapid doesn't want to be a junior partner of Netaniyahu. He wants to be himself the prime-minister, he wants re-election. But he would lose...
8. #2 - compare what Lapid was writing just two years ago
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (03.10.13)
Compare what Lapid was writing just two years ago with what he was saying during the run up to the elections. He lies whilst smiling!
9. Boycotting sections of the population
Taxpayer ,   Hod Hasharon   (03.10.13)
I do not recall $ha$$ insistign on negotiations with the Arab parties - or according to their racist exclusive view that is permissable.
10. Deri
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (03.10.13)
In exchange for money, Deri voted for importing the pig Arafat to Israel. Thanks to Deri's greed, thousands of Israelis died, Shabbat desecrated, synagogues destroyed. During the elections, Deri and his boss cursed Bayit Yehudi as non-Jews and mockingly told them they closed a deal with Netanyahu to keep Bayit Yehudi out of the government. Now, Bayit Yehudi is in and Shas is out. Maybe Deri should contemplate what is better: Bayit Yehudi's ahavat hinam or Shas' sinat hinam.
11. Fad in Egypt
Jake ,   Haifa   (03.10.13)
Fad, it is wonderful to see an Egyptian here on an Israeli newspaper who gives serious comments. How did you get so knowledgeable about Israel? Do you still live in Egypt? Does anyone there know you comment about Israel? Of course, I hope you are for real.
12. new elections
Fad Egypt   (03.10.13)
even if Lapid won the next elections, he wont be able to form the government, according to the latest polls, Lapid will win 30, bennett 13, Shas 10, Utj 6, Meretz 7, Labor 9, Kadima 2, Livni 3, Likud 26, in order that Lapid forms a government, he can bring his party 30, Bennett 13, Livni 3, Kadima 2, Labor 9 so the total will be 30 + 13 + 3 + 2 + 9 = 57, short of the 61 seats, Meretz and the haredim wont join, and the Likud can block the government !!!!! shalom
13. #11 Jake, Haifa
Fad Egypt   (03.10.13)
i am egyptian living in Cairo, Egypt, i ve been posting comments on Ynet since 2006, as a christian protestant i am supporting the state of Israel as the land of Israel belongs to the jewish people, according to the bible, history and international law i always prefer to see right wing government rule in Israel, the last government was weak because it is led by Bibi and there wasnt strong nationalist party, this time there is a strong party which is the Jewish Home Party but the government is going to be dependent on a leftist party of Yair Lapid who can force Bibi to make any concessions to the PA or or freeze the construction in Judea and Samaria, or he can topple the government, yea i know that the haredim must serve in the army and work, but Bennett should ve given the haredim a chance , they were ready to accept the Kendel proposal, the Haredim arent interested on the so called peace talks or two state solution anyway, i wish next government be a nationalist one and Uzi Landu becomes a minister, also nice to speak to u, shalom

17. to Fad@13
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (03.11.13)
Shalom, my friend, Fad.. .It is nice to see your input on this board, after quite some time..I agree with your opinions, almost completely... I don't trust Lapid. Not only because, I am a right wing supporter and a conservative, but because he did not convince his electorate to be a serious and a strong statesman, who can face the many challanges, Israel is coping with..I can't see in him the ability to fulfill his socio/economic promises..We know, that changes come with a price... Bennett appears to be more stable and trustworthy to me...But all we can do is hope and pray..Thank You for your good wishes and hope to read more of your valuable input into Israel's security, economy and politics... Shalom...
18. to # 11 Fad Egypt
Vladimir ,   Yerushalayim   (03.12.13)
Dear Fad, I believe that you are real and that you are our friend. Is it not dangerous to be a friend of the Jews in Egypt? I'm a former Soviet Jew and I know what hatred and injustice mean in relation to the Jews. Strange as it is, I found the same phenomenon here in Israel. If you read the talkbacks you can see how much the orthodox Jews are hated and despised. This blind hatred is cultivated by the media. All accusations are false. Most of the charedim do work; as YNet recently reported, the number of working charedim increased five-fold for the last few years. They also serve in the army. Do you know that more than 5 thousand soldiers (2.5%) voted for the the ashkenazic party Torah Judaism and 11 thousand for SHAS (7 percent). Together it makes almost 10% of all soldiers. Charedim also founded many volunteer organizations, like Hatzalah, Chesed shel Emet, Yad-Sarah, Yad Eliezer, etc. that serve the entire country. The Israeli society is very much obliged to the orthodox Jews. Do you know that the Zionist movement could be launched only because there was always the religious Jewish population in the Land of Israel? True, there is a small sector that doesn't work and serve in the army. They are yeshiva students that learn Torah all day long. Many of them are foreign citizens, mostly from America. Jerusalem and Bnei-Brak are world centers of the Jewish learning. Lapid and his ilk want to destroy the yeshivot. They don't care for justice and equality. They don't understand that only Torah learning saves us here and G-d is taking care of us. There were no yeshivot in the Soviet Union, and what is the result? The Jewish community which numbered 3 million people after the II World War, almost disappeared, completely assimilated. I address to you because I feel that you are a real friend and you are unbiased. Unfortunately, many Israels won't even listen to these facts.
