The American justice system on appeals is also flawed because there also are no jurors present in trials. Juries are the most idiotic thing about many of the world's justice systems. Taking people with no legal training, who often don't understand or are bored by complex evidence testimony such as presentation of forensic evidence, measurement of teeth marks, etc, often hate being forced to be there, who have no legal obligation to weigh the facts, and who could have biases, and asking them to determine a person's fate is scary and has no place in the 21st century. Trials should be conducted either before a panel of three judges, or by professional jurors who have legal training.
