Yes but why not invited arabs students from the West Bank who are studing at the Ariel Uni...?
32. #31, West Bank Arabs (non-Israelis) not allowed at Ariel U.
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (03.13.13)
Wikipedia..."Current enrollment at the university is about 14,000, including secular and orthodox Jewish, including the largest number of Ethiopian-born students in any Israeli university, Arab, and Circassian Israeli students. As of 2011 there are 600 Israeli Arab students. The Center is open to all Israel citizens, including Arabs. However, like all universities in Israel, it is not open to Palestinians of the West Bank."
33. #2 and role of other Israelil students
Alan - Mérida ,   Mérida, México   (03.13.13)
As for Pres. Obama's barring Ariel U students, just petty, petty on the part of him and the anti-Jewish US State Dept.. The students from Ariel U should be invted. If not, the students from elsewhere in Israel should have the strength of character to boycott the Obama event. As for writer No. 2, is showing his subservience to the international hatred of Israel and ignorance of the 19th and 20th century history of the land. Yeah, yeah, illegal to the letist tyrant-loving UN. Who is the rightful owner of Judea and Samaria, the Jewish people by our history? Also, the Jewish people, by international treaties since at least the Balfour declaration. Sure, Jordan sized and occupied the disputed territories when it participated in the first Arab attempt to eradicate the state of Israel... that makes "legal" an Arab claim to the former Ottoman then British territory?
34. I can sense it, Obama's Israel visit
Salamon   (03.13.13)
is heading to be a huuge flop.
35. #13 Why are you calling Zionist Jews ugly racist pigs?!
On the Balcony ,   Akko   (03.13.13)
I am a Jew and a Zionist and like a lot o Israelies, I oppose settlements w/o a peace treaty. While I don't like Obama, his apparent decision not to invite Ariel students should be a welcome and powerful wake-up call for people like you. "Otherwise you are.." a silly little boy and your mommy is going to take away your computer priviledges.
36. #21 Obama's decision is correct.
On the Balcony ,   Akko   (03.13.13)
True, Ariel's students and settlers are victims of the government's cruel propaganda. Nevertheless, unwittingly or not, they are participants in an illegal settlement policy condemned by every country on the world and by many Jews and Israelis too. Israel can only flip the finger at the world for so long before it get's broken.
37. Obama is practicing discrimination
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (03.13.13)
obama's entire visit is an outrageous attempt by this dictator to impose his will on an entire nation. obama will not succeed.
38. Just so everyone knows:
Observer   (03.13.13)
The vast majority of anti Israeli comment come from Palestinians who pretend to be either America, Israeli or any other country. They are just trolls who go round Jewish websites and filling them with hate.

PALESINIANS LIVING IN WEST BANK ARE NOT ISRAELI CITIZENS. THEY ALL ATTEND THEIR UNIVERSITY IN RAMALLH, CALLED BEIR SEIT. none of them will ever want to cross the line and attend an israeli university by the way. they have their own main university and colleges where all of the palestinian young students attend university there. israel built beir zeit university by the way when they conquered the west bank after a defensive war in 67. beir zeit is sponsored by both monies from israel ministry of education as well as the plo and mahmood abbas' administration. i wonder why there was not a single university for the west bank until israel got it?????? don't bother to answer. we know the answer. plo rather spent money on bombs and suicide belts than on educating their youth. many palestinian students from the west bank travel to the inside of israel to partake in joint projects between arabs and jews in agriculture, water conservation, desalination and farming methods which they learn from the israeli experts at all universities in israel. when you are clueless of something or anything, it behoves you to research your topic well before spouting propaganda and basic untruths. nissim petrovich, phd. environmental studies arava research project of desertification in the negev ariel university department of agriculture ariel, israel

according to "The whole world, including the US", Israel is from the Jordan to the Mediterranean. Go read a bit, the Mandate for Palestine and San Remo peace conference 1920. There are legal and valid today documents. Ignorants anti semitic...

albert snow, it's not the Oslo agreements wich gives fully judicial rights to Judea and Samaria, it's the Mandate for Palestine. San Remo 1920

totally wrong. Judea Samaria are part of Isreal under international law. Read Howard Grief treaty on Israeli borders under international law.
45. “Disputed Territory”
Zeev, Haifa   (03.13.13)
Why don’t you people look up the official Website of our own Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I quote: “...Disputed, not "Occupied", Territory. The West Bank and Gaza Strip are disputed territories whose status can only be determined through negotiations.” If indeed the Territories are “disputed” pending negotiation, then what could possibly be more plausible than to halt any activity that might change the character of the disputed territory during the period of negotiation? In other words, to refrain from changing the facts on the ground while the issue is being negotiated? From this it clearly follows that like everything else in the “disputed territories”, also the Ariel “University” is of doubtful legality...
46. #32 They have 13 of their own universities
A ,   Belgium   (03.13.13)
where they can freely study the fine arts of terror. Ariel doesn't need them, nor does Israel.
47. But seriously, who is surprised ?

48. Samaria is not a settlement - West Bank naming is criminal.
BUTSeriousy ,   Sydney   (03.14.13)
The 3,500 year Hebrew name of Samaria was changed to West Bank illegally by Jordan in 1949, as a mark of genocide unto the nation of Israel. Shame on all who support it or pretend they do not understand its intention.
49. Benassi, your Wiki reference is suspect
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (03.14.13)
That Wiki article that claims Israeli universities are "not open to Palestinians of the West Bank" references back to a BBC article. But that claim is clearly false, as exceptions are made all the time. One of the driving forces behind the BDS movement is a fellow named Barghouti - a Palestinian Arab from the West Bank getting his Masters in Philosophy at ... Tel Aviv University. Most PA Arabs prefer to study at their own universities (some built by Israelis after '67) or in Jordan. Also note that, except for "International" programs, the language of instruction at most Israeli universities is Hebrew. But PA Arabs are a major presence at places like the Arava Institute, and PA medical professionals train and practice at Hadassah Hospital.

53. #44 Grief is an demagogue and neither scholar nor right
On the Balcony ,   Akko   (03.20.13)
Do some real research. You are confusing hackneyed puerile arguments built on spurious assumptions as if they were deserving of attention. Do you know why only a small handful of Zionist lawyers support your position? Because it's wrong. Period. Do some real research. Start with Theodor Muron, a former Israeli legal advisor to the PM and Ambassador, now an international court judge.
