It is interesting, and ironic, that Yuval Diskin, as the head of Shabak in 2010, was in charge of the imprisonment of Ben Zygier, which ultimately ended in his suicide. The conditions of the imprisonment were considered to be very harsh, but mandated by the security threat that Zygier supposedly represented. In light of Oren’s comments, it can now be said of both men that despite not intending to harm the security interests of their country, both have managed to do so. How? They both succumbed to the temptation of speaking too much. The question remains, whose loose lips have done more damage to the security interests of Israel, Zygiers’ or Diskins’?

If you claim to be standing up for free speech, you should let Mr Oren speak his mind and opinions, and not label him as intending to prevent free speech!

I would rather run a police state and save 10000 lives both Jewish and Arab than loosen security to a point when anyone can just enter my country and kill people. Even worse is if the murderer is from within, which is what the Shin Bet is for!

These people did not suddenly find their conscience. After retiring from the Shabak they faced a choice: remain faithful to Israel and fade into anonymity, or bash Israel and earn lots of money. These "gatekeepers" just want to make a buck.
