31. #22. Lunatic suckers for a 9 mile wide Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.22.13)
"Nine miles is a lot...." Michael, seriously, have you lost your mind? Can you imagine telling any other nation such an absurding? Why do you post such lunacy regarding Israel? The vast majority of Israel strongly opposes such idiocy and that is why the left is in sharp decline. However, I'm glad leftists like you are expressing their obvious lunacy for all to see.
32. Israel couldn't hold Sinai with its 400 miles width.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.22.13)
The Bar Lev line was indefensible with its 400 mile width. On the other hand, the Normandy landing strip was less than 1 mile wide and yet it gave start to the Western Front which liberated the entire western Europe from the Nazis. Clausevitz you are not, not even a Popay. But I'll tell you bozo, you do me a favor by calling me lunatic while you are a proven idiot.
33. #32. Israel could have held Sinai forever.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.23.13)
#32. For heavens sake, Michael. Do a little study before you spout absolute nonsense. Israel could have, and should have, kept the Sinai forever. Israel voluntarily ceded the Sinai to Egypt. Surely, you must know that. Virtually all of Israel's problems come from lunatic concessions and retreats.
34. To N 29, Chaim.
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (03.23.13)
Chaim, do you really believe that Arab Palestines will accept to leave West Jordan through indemnifications? Of course, they will not, and a new Intifadah will begin, with more violence and deaths. Beyond it, Israel's international prestige will suffer a terrible blow. It is not a question about right and left. Israel, for being a Jewish State, not a mixed one, must accept the refered neighbor; of course, demilitarized, and separated by redrawed frontiers. Think more about it, my friend.
35. #32 Michael the guy with two left feet
Austin ,   Panama   (03.23.13)
You are not just a fool but a cretin. The Bar Lev Line was a known fake. It was manned by less thah 200 soldiers, including radio operators and mechanics. Most of the sandhill "forts" were dummies. Yet, two of them, with about 4-5 soldiers inside held out throughout the whole war. Acounts of this have been published with personal details from the soldiers within them. If the Line had been properly manned, it could never have been broken, and the Egyptians would not even have attempted to to it. As Sadat said, he was just trying to "restore some Egyptian pride" with a small victory.
36. Obama
me ,   USA   (03.23.13)
Greatest speech. Are you all totally delusional !! So, after Obama insulted most of Israel, by refusing to address the knesset, on his first visit in 5-years, but he had time to pick and choose the worst of the communist and socialist students whilst rejecting other students for an address, and they grovelled by giving him an award, and yet her co-erced Netanayu to apologise to Turkey, I guess Israel is Obama's bitch now. Make you wonder what threats went on in secret. Talk about bending over and taking it.
37. #32. There is no sane argument for ceding Judea and Samaria.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.23.13)
Can you imagine telling any other nation it should trim it's waist to 9 miles??? Let alone Israel, which is already the most geographically vulnerable state in the world. Only Jews with a death wish would champion such a thing. Judea and Samaria legally belong to Israel and there is no sane reason for ceding them. I'm glad we're getting this out in the open and leftists are revealing their total lunacy by rallying to support the clearly cretinous policy of trimming Israel's waist to 9 miles.
38. The question remaining...of following through
Jacob ,   Denmark   (03.23.13)
It is not a question of whether Obama can, should or will follow through after raising expectations for the Middle East. This follow-through must come from the you and your neighbours, close as well as far. You must begin to ask questions, understand your neighbours and accept compromise, so that your children may live to see a better day and continue your legacy.
39. The question that remains... of follow-through
Jacob ,   Denmark   (03.23.13)
It is not a question of whether Obama can, should or will follow through after raising expectations for the Middle East. This follow-through must come from the you and your neighbours, close as well as far. Not from Obama. You must (again) continue (or begin) to ask questions, understand your neighbours, accept compromise, and learn to respect each other better. So that your children may live to see a better day and continue your legacy one day I hope. Shalom!
40. Campaign in Poetry, Govern in Prose.
Ari ,   Israel, USA   (03.23.13)
President Obama gives great aspirational speeches. His rhetoric stirs the soul and makes you believe in a dream of a wonderful world as it could be. But then there is reality; and the reality is rockets are falling on the heads of Israeli children in Sderot and Arab leaders all around us are spewing hatred against the Jews and the West, while in many instances they butcher their own people. So what do you think they would do to us? As the old saying goes; Campaign in Poetry, Govern in Prose. Obama is great a poet, but he can't govern or follow through on these aspirational visions and perhaps we shouldn't try too hard.
41. Shalom Avi.
Jacob ,   Denmark   (03.23.13)
Avi, How is it for Obama to govern or follow through on these aspirational visions? Why shouldn't you try to hard?
42. #37, Jews in Occupied Territories are different.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.23.13)
Most Israelis don't want to live with them. This is the argument for ceding the territories, more than any strategy for the time of war. You are different, getting it?
43. greatest speech?! #2
yosef, phd ,   usa-israel   (04.02.13)
Right on Steven, Truly well said - "like an enema"... People who WISH to hear more verbal "massage" will hear it - the american "pres" is the best since castor oil. It is truly shocking how multitudes are falling for meaningless, well concealed Judophobic drivel - even the Israeli Left, - the intellectually arrogant lot - both in the government and media.
44. #30 There's no SANE reason to keep J&S
On the Balcony ,   Akko   (04.11.13)
I do not cite Wikipedia as a legal authority, per se, but as a source for further research. In contrast, you provide bald assertions and misrepresentations of untested or discredited arguments and opinions. Eugene Rostow was not, as you write, "the" author of SCR242 -numerous countries and, in particular, the five permanent members of the Security Counsel were directly involved in the delicate wording of 242. Of these, France and Russia openly disagree with Rostow’s account, China is silent as far as I can tell, but, most important, ALL of the countries involved in drafting and passing SCR242 have held since 1968 that the settlements violated international law. So much for Rostow. As for Phillips, he acknowledges that the international community and most legal authorities consider the settlements illegal and then argues that they MIGHT be wrong. Phillip’s argument, like Rostow’s, is severely undercut by the UN’s recent exercise of its “residual mandate authority” over the “residual” territory by formally recognizing the State of Palestine thereon. Calling me a left-wing radical, kook, lunatic, stupid, etc, reveals your lack of maturity, the shallowness of your positions and extremely limited imagination. For now, enough ad hominem twerp --tweet us a cite to that "incontrovertible proof" that the occupied territories belong to Israel under international law that you are incessantly hand-wringing and crying about.
45. Blah, blah, blah, he blathered.
Gideon Reader   (04.28.13)
He went on to say:"Blah, balh, blah." And "furthermore, blah, blah, blah." The bad part is that ALL his speeches are equally empty and misssing substance. Replace "blah with "me, I and mine" endlessly repeated and you have a transcript.
46. Charlie Chaplin made a better one.
Roland Seener ,   London England   (07.03.13)
See the Great Dictator ...The end part.
47. HAIFA ANALYSIS
Neil   (07.13.13)
Michael - Sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about. It's not about Jake Stone calling him Messiah, it is about how our media portray him. In other words, quite the opposite of your point -- he can do NO wrong and can never be criticized just because he is black - racist no?
