1. Now all they need is a kosher cancer
A ,   Belgium   (03.26.13)
Orthodox (nobody, actually) shouldn't smoke anyway, it causes permanent damage to the body which is forbidden in Judaism. They may as well get tattoos and be cremated...hypocrites.
2. smoking
larry ,   israel   (03.26.13)
'So now the Rabbinate aproves smoking as a Kosher substance !! another black mark for the rabbis /being bought off again .for money. .The Golden calf wins out over Moses !
3. I'm a smoker, but not a hypocrite
Gershon Reed ,   Be'er Sheva, Israel   (03.26.13)
Oh, the hypocrisy. How can a religious leader in his right mind certify something as kosher that, without a doubt, will kill you. They would have my respect if they stood up and said, "smoking kills. I will not even consider the kashrut of tobacco products." It is foolishness such as this why I left organized religion.
4. I thought that Judaism condemned suicide
Sam   (03.26.13)
5. Right on #3 !
(03.26.13)
6. A new classification.
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (03.26.13)
Kosher and non kosher carcinogens.
7. Smoking is harmful
Dave ,   Israel   (03.26.13)
Isn't it prohibited to harm yourself willingly? What hypocrites!!
8. Make price high for supervision, reduce price for chicken
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.26.13)
supervision. When cigarettes are priced out of all but the very rich, smokers will choose to live without cancer.
9. kosher cigarettes
Nosan Nietsdlog ,   usa   (03.26.13)
The next thing crazzy Israel Rabbis will approve will be cyanide
10. Are they kosher the rest of the year?
Up in Smoke ,   Israel   (03.26.13)
1. Really giving Kashrut certification to something that will kill you. 2. If they do not know what is in them why is ok to smoke them during the year without a Kashrut certification.
11. I am waiting for kosher pot, heroin and crack
Larry ,   LA   (03.26.13)
Isn't this silly? to give a hecksher to a cigarette? What next?
12. ok then & the bracha prior to lighting up is...?
Jew ,   JewLandia (Israel)   (03.26.13)
I'm asking because as we all know every single action that is carried out by a Jew has a bracha attached to it. So what's the bracha for smoking...? (hint: this is a trick question there is no bracha for smoking because smoking is classified as an action which prevents life) So why bother giving cancer sticks a kashrus certificate?!
13. What BS
Ethan ,   Eilat   (03.26.13)
This is a practice that had been done for years. I was happy that it had been stopped. Dubek decided to pay whatever amount for the Hechsher or the rabbis were so desperate for their fix that they did it for free. Yes I am a cynic.
14. Rabbinat
Sholem ,   Dolev, Israel   (03.27.13)
The Rabbinate did NOT grant kashrut to cigarettes, their exact reasoning was "poison is not kosher" The "kashrut" was granted by 2 private badatz organisations who obviously care more about profits than life.
15. Same with certain lubricants
Susya Bar Dror ,   Israel   (03.27.13)
they also have a kashrut after being tested extensively by our Rabbis.
16. All tabacco is fermented; there is no kosher tabacoo
Myconius ,   L'wd, Nl   (03.27.13)
17. Chametz and treif ingredients.....
Froike ,   NY NY   (03.28.13)
Last year, my Rebbe explained to me that Cigars, cigarettes, and pipe tobacco, may not only contain Chametz but also outright treif ingredients. Although I believe it may be overdoing it a little, I myself bought Chametz free cigars...which ironically, are one of the best smokes I ever tried...kosher or not. So for those who want to kill themselves naturally...not a bad idea!
18. Can I interest you in some kosher LSD?
Az   (03.29.13)
100% guaranteed to not have been manufactured in a facility shared with pork, chicken, beef, soybeans, goats' milk, sheep cheese, or kale. That'll be 40$ a hit.
