1. Between this & some of the terror victim families....
survivor of terror ,   Israel   (03.30.13)
wanting to move Memorial Day.... I am left wondering is it that Israel just wants to forget its fallen soldiers and victims of terror? I don't agree with this man and I don't agree with the families who want to move Memorial Day. I think that both the Minister of Culture and Sport and the Minister of Education should step in along with the Prime Minister and remind all of us that Memorial Day is important. On Memorial Day the Nation as a whole remembers all of its fallen the rest of the year we the survivors live with our own traumas.
2. Perhaps more countries should follow the lead
dood ,   UK   (03.30.13)
Seeing as the UK has Remembrance Sunday (not sure about other countries) Perhaps other countries should follow Israel's lead and set off the sirens and remember their fallen might reduce the amount of war. Either that or kick the guys out of Israel
3. Why?
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.30.13)
Why does this man insist on living in Israel? He and his ilk would be so much happier in Golah. Oh yes, of course - I am forgetting the financial support he receives here for doing nothing...
4. this is a frivolous lawsuit and the ct wiil throw it out.
debra ,   usa   (03.30.13)
5. Citizenship
Adam Burman ,   Golan   (03.30.13)
It is clear that this hypocrite does not view himself as Israeli. Revoke his citizenship, and all rights and benefits granted to him as a citizen. There is no reason on earth that the rest of us should fund and carry these parasitical leeches.
6. Where do these people think they are living?
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot   (03.30.13)
Obviously they do not think they are living in modern Israel. All civilized countries have a "memorial day" to honor those who have given their all for their country. Just another reason why it is for Israel's best that they re not now part of the government.
7. let us talk democracy man
Ilana   (03.30.13)
It is undemocratic to treat women the way you do. I want to drive my car through your neighborhood on shabbat, do I have the freedom to? I want a conservative wedding, can I? OH, and let us also limit unemployment to areas like yours, as well as sharing the burden equally. Then you can talk.
8. Ostrowitz - stay inside during siren (2 minutes?) + relax
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (03.30.13)
Why make a big hallabaloo on this subject? Majority of Israel want to show respect to the dead. How can two minutes hurt an individual's freedom of expression, occupation, etc.?
9. Ostrowitz is a moron
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (03.30.13)
10. lost soul
Noel ,   Australia   (03.30.13)
What have you contributed to the State Ostrowitz ! ??
11. Sirens
Michael ,   Haifa   (03.30.13)
If, heaven forbid, we come under a rocket attack from any of our enemies, the sirens should not be activated in this hateful man's area...quid pro quo
12. What is the problem?
Beary White ,   Norway   (03.30.13)
Remembrance Day siren, once a year should be no problem. What abouth the problem EVERY week that comes from the mosks establishment!! The yelling must be nerve-breaking...
13. He spray painted Yad Vashem?
BUILD BABY BUILD !!! ,   United States   (03.30.13)
Why is he still free to make trouble and insult the fallen? He should still be in jail or deported to Iran, they hate Israel too
14. He's right
Reuven ,   Netanya   (03.30.13)
Everyone should have the choice to drive/walk or to do whatever he wants to do at that moment, I don't know any European country where people ar not allowed to drive on a particular moment because of a national event. That being said and before you start your rant, if this would be implemented, then I as an individual should also have the right to use public transport every day of the week, or to go to whatever place I want, dressed as I want on the moment that I want. I would have the freedom to marry who I want and in the way I want without any interference of a specific religious body. Also this would mean that everyone has to be treated equal and everyone should go to the military, to some kind of work and pay taxes... Thats democracy!
15. none sense
Jose ,   Jesusalem   (03.30.13)
It would be like saying remember Passover only in the synagogue, If this is the only country that have a siren tradition, perhaps is because this is the only Jewish country
16. I agree
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (03.30.13)
In the olden days the use of the Siren was a good way of alerting the population to Memorial Day. In the modern age of mass media and mobile phones it is no longer required. Just because we have always done it doesn't mean that we shouldn't discuss whether it is a good idea to continue doing it or to stopping it. Preventing any debate would indicate that Israel is a dictatorship
17. Israel is the only country in tthe world to
jason white ,   afula,israel   (03.30.13)
give money to citizens to not work or serve in the army. Time for us to send these enemies of Zionism and Judaism to live in a gulag. We can probably buy a couple from the russians and also hire security people to make sure they work and not escape. They are the enmies of Israel as much as ham-ass and hizbollah.
18. Ungrateful person
Rhonda ,   Chicago, USA   (03.30.13)
After spray painting Yad Vashem and Ammunition Hill and now this, how come he chooses to live in Israel? The other night here in Chicago they tested the alarm system for tornadoes here- it's a broadcast over the television. If I don't want the alarm then I shouldn't live in the Midwest. And that is nothing compared to the honor and remembrance due the fallen in Israel. Dismiss his court case which is a waste of tax payers money in Israel and give him a one way ticket to somewhere else in the Mideast. An ungrateful person to the sacrifices made by the IDF and victims of terrorism.
19. And the good news is ,...
split ,   US   (03.30.13)
In 2-3 decades they will be a majority - If I was a Pali I would find myself a comfortable spot on the fence watch and wait for the right time to join the crow and get the spoils ,...
20. he should be in jail for his crimes
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (03.30.13)
He was convicted of a number of crimes, including trespassing and vandalism - of Yad Vashem of all places only a year ago and he's not in prison?? The Israeli courts are to lenient. As for the sirens, we live in a democracy, which means the majority rule & this moron is the only one complaining. If he doesn't want to hear the sirens he can leave the country.
21. Fighting dictatorship
Raphael ,   Netanya   (03.30.13)
He should agree to fight against imposed kashrut, bus ban on shabbat, and put the religious business under control.
22. There is a deal of
Sagi   (03.30.13)
irony and hypocrisy in the fact that a citizen or resident of a country which is not recognized by him, and furthermore, he does not recognize or abide by the laws of that country, permits himself to petition the courts of law of that country. Likewise that the country should permit him to do so. An oath of allegiance should be made a prerequisite for anyone reaching the age of majority, native born or immigrant, without which there is no citizenship and no passport. If one decides not to take the oath and is granted residence then he or she must sign a declaration binding them to respect and uphold the law.
23. The rantings of a sick madman. Disgrace. Respect the fallen
Adam ,   Ramat Gan   (03.30.13)
24. You're free to leave, what you fear is a dictatorship
Robert Levita ,   Thornhill, Canada   (03.30.13)
25. I have a very simple suggestion to the Haradi tinif
Al   (03.30.13)
you are not wanted in Israel. You do nothing but sponge off the country. You are not the guardians to the heavens. Leave Israel and play your schnorrishe shtick in the golus where like the Lubavitcher impostors you will learn to make a living off of Judocrackism. You are a waste.
26. I'm secular and I'm completely up for it
(03.30.13)
I never stand up on Remembrance Day nor do I stop my work. I do not believe that I need to be told when to remember the ones who fell for this country. As a free citizen I'm free to decide how to rule my own life. The state serves the people, not the opposite
27. The man has a point,since Arabs,
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (03.30.13)
haredim, parts of shas,Aguda, don't identify with the state of Israel, they shouldn't be forced to honor memorial day,the haredim have a split personality,on one hand they oppose a Jewish state,on the other, they wouldn't like to live under muslim rule.
28. If you don't pay taxes
Adam ,   Israel   (03.30.13)
You don't deserve an opinion.
29. Shame on him
Get Real ,   UK   (03.30.13)
He wants to deny the country from having a collective Act of Remembrance. How can he begrudge the fallen a minute of national tribute? The fallen who have fought for a democracy in which he can abuse sacred memories and act in a treacherous way. In many countries his acts of treason would have resulted in prison sentences.
30. # 26 Response
Sagi   (03.30.13)
"the state serves the people, not the opposite. That is a very strange comment to make in this particular context. Those who are being remembered actually served the state, unless I am truly mistaken.
