1. Turkey needs Israel, not the other way around
Guy ,   KC   (03.27.13)
Debka raised some good points today. Turkey needs avionics and early-warning modules from Israel for its UAVs, and needs Israel's ports in Haifa and Ashdod as conduits to the Persian Gulf, and doesn't want to be left out of new gas-pipeline consortia. It is repulsive that Israel's prime minister, as representative of an autochthonous nation in the region, should kiss the ring of the Mongol-descended occupiers of Kurdistan and Armenia. Erdogan just hopes to parlay Turkey's prestige, or really his own prestige, to lead the Arab League. It is astounding that the Arabs themselves don't reject an Ottoman ruler's interference in their affairs.
2. Just rescind the apology
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.27.13)
It'll be a major pain to get rid of all those billboards, but I'm sure Turkey is up to the task!
3. Bibi should resign NOW and all talks with Turkey....
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.27.13)
should cease immediately. Just pass the plate back to Obama and wash your hands off the whole matter. It was his idea so let him come up with another dumb plan to deal with his bastard friend. Why should Israelis have to put up with that uncouth bastard in Turkey? Bibi took the first step in this fiasco. Let it be the first and LAST one.
4. bennett makes bibi look like a weakling
marv   (03.27.13)
bad enough the apology offered because bibi has no conviction and cannot take presssure. He means well but he is weak as hell. Israel offered 100,000 and that should be it, 100,000 per man and not one cent more. If erdogan doesn't want it, tell him he could shove it up his ass and the apology is rescinded. and no military hardware should be sold to turkey. Bibi should make plans to step down in 6 months. He is weak beyond description.
5. In the 'long' run NO place for ISLAMIST Turkey in NATO!!
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (03.27.13)
6. Bibi knows how to take pressure but...
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.27.13)
he does not know how to dish it out and put his opponents on the defensive. He only knows how to absorb blows and seems incapable of putting up his fists and throwing in a few punches himself. That is his weakness as a politician. He really does not know how to be a political animal in the international theater. He really does not have nerves of steel like Lieberman. Well..with a wife like Sara, no wonder.
7. Bibi is nothing more than........
Maureen   (03.27.13)
one helluva slap on the mouth for all who held him "high". Take your last bow Bibi and go on home. You've become nothing more than a washout.... the Turkey fiasco put paid to you. Bye Bye!
8. # 2 Delusional Lady
Ocken Davutoglu ,   Ancara   (03.27.13)
Not only Israel will keep the apology as it will also pay the money we ask as also it will lift the blockade. But you can dream otherwise, surely... and dont forget your medicine, dearest...
9. Maureen 7
alsky ,   Toronto   (03.27.13)
dont kid yourself....many Israelis support Bibi and his actions ! Very scary indeed !
10. Let Bibi pay the $ 1 Mil from his own pocket
Moshe ,   Usa   (03.27.13)
and vote for Bennett next time. Do you like to compensate arobs terrorists who transgress Israel's sea faring laws?
11. If Livni is engaged in compensation talks ...
Devorah   (03.27.13)
the Turks will receive $2 million each.
12. Turkey's policy toward Israel
American ,   Los Angeles   (03.27.13)
is not much different than the iranian. erDOG is humiliating Israel and openly supporting hamas. erDOG is talking about direct involvement in Gaza which means Israely affairs.
13. Recognition of the Armenian Genocide
American ,   Los Angeles   (03.27.13)
will put an end to erDOG's ambition to be the sultan of the ottoman empire.
14. its called diplomatic deal making
zionist forever   (03.27.13)
Bibi doesn't mean a word of this apology and Erdogan knows it, he is playing diplomatic games and saying sorry because it benefits Israel in some other way. Perhaps Obama has offered to give Israel something in exchange for this apology. He knew he wasn't going to come here and walk away with a peace treaty with the palestinians so instead he dies a deal with Bibi patch things up with Turkey, looks likeI I had a role to play in patching things up between you so I can come home claiming i have done something other than have my picture taken and in exchange I will give you something. Maybe another Iron Dome battery, maybe between them they have reached a point of no return on Iran and once thats crossed the US will send in the bombers. There are all sorts of reasons why Bibi might have agreed to this apology over Turkey, for him its saying to the rest of the world this operation was wrong and I am sorry for it. There are always ulterior motives in politics and with Bibi especially who is no novice there will defiantly be a good reason if he is going to climb down and apologise after all these years of saying we did nothing wring. Saying sorry doesn't mean we can't carry out another raid if needed just get it right this time by giving the commandos the correct weapons non lethal weapons for the job. Bennet is just trying to make political capital out of this, now he is in the coalition he no longer has Lapid to help him stand up to Bibi so he wants to make a name for himself in his own right.
15. to the Israelis & the Turks USA is calling the shots...
Cuban on Patrol ,   Over there   (03.27.13)
both sides need to just settle down and stop their posturing. President Mr. Obama wants it this way and since President Mr. Obama controls the purse strings you will both do it that way!
16. #7. Oh! I don't know about that, he is like the phoenix ...
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.27.13)
capable of rising from the ashes, for all the anger vented against him in the heat of the moment.
17. The loyalty of the right
Avramele   (03.27.13)
Note how the rightists in the coalition are first to go off the reservation. So much for national unity.
18. Bennet should remember that he is not PM
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (03.27.13)
if bennet wants to criticize the pm publicly, he should join the opposition. otherwise, he should keep quiet.
19. YOU ARE THE MAN BENNETT!
les ,   canada   (03.27.13)
20. ZF #14: Why did we hang A. Eichmann?
Steve   (03.27.13)
By your logic, maybe we should have apologized to Eichmann and Germany for having to put up with so many obstinate Jews for so many centuries. Maybe Israel and the Jews might have benefited financially from a heart-felt apology. After all, like the illegal 2010 Mavi Marmara flotilla "incident" it was the fault of the Jews like everything else. I am thankful there are men like Avigdor Lieberman and Naftali Bennett who do not think like you.
21. Bennett needs to be the PM!
Taz Man ,   USA   (03.27.13)
Netanyahu has got to go; Israel deserves better!
22. Israel should not sell weapons and parts to Turkey until...
b mezritch ,   philadelphia pa   (03.27.13)
They cut out the rhetoric and apologize for their anit-Israeli and anti-zionist rants. Erodogan gloats over Israel"s apology as he refuses to apologize for Turkey's crimes against humanity against Armenians and Kurdish people.
23. Bennett: Erdogan making Israel regret apology
Selby ,   modiin, israel   (03.27.13)
Surely Turkey should compensate the "victims" family for the loss of life, not Israel. The Flotilla had Turkeys full mandate and encouragement. Israel repeatedly warned that they should not enter the waters off of Gaza. It is sad that there was loss of life in the operation - in any defensive operation of this kind. But this would never have happened if Turkey had respected Israel's security concerns and not sanctioned the flotilla.
24. Bennet is right !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (03.27.13)
25. Bibi should apologise for apologising
Alan ,   SA   (03.27.13)
26. #22. Erdogan will bask in that "apology" for the next decade
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.27.13)
because he is obsessed with his image and aspirations for Turkish Ottoman supremacy. in the region. Ooooh! Bring back the glorious days of the Turkish empire.
27. Erdogan enough already
Richard ,   Boca Raton, USA   (03.27.13)
I want to know why the hell Israel is offering to pay anything. Israel was defending its sovereignty and had a legal and moral imperative to board that ship with “fools” on it. Erdogan is a monumental putz and I’m tired of his whining. I like Bibi but I don’t agree to his knee-dropping offer to the Muslims.
28. Bennet is right !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (03.27.13)
29. The Apology Was For the US
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (03.27.13)
Israel will benefit the most from the apology. If Israel gives $100,000 or a million it will see that money returned many fold from the US both in actual money and good will. Turkey is needed for an attack on Iran and it's important for the US to have it's allies in good relations. Erdogan is a buffoon, let him play his part, but in the end Israel will come out on top.
30. disagreement over the compensation
david howe ,   dubbo australia   (03.27.13)
