31. The US relationship, stupid.
Jase ,   Australia   (03.28.13)
The relationship with Turkey is important. But the relationship with the US is more important. Obama pressured Bibi to repair the relationship, which is what he did. Keeping the US happy at this time obviously had massive benefits for Israel, sufficient to engage in humiliating behaviour with a Turkish buffoon.
32. Now I know why I voted Bennett and not Netanyahu
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (03.28.13)
I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.

There is no comparison to apologising to Turkey over the Mavi Mara and apologising to Eichman. What does it cost Israel to say sorry to Turkey even though Erdogan knows full well we don't mean a word of it. If there are political benefits to Israel by making this apology then isn't this actually a good deal? All we are doing is allowing Erdogan a chance to boast about getting one over on us. If there are political rewards from the US in exchange for this apology they we are the ones who have the last laugh.
34. #29 Chaim. Wake up! Obama is NOT going to attack Iran.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.28.13)
Obama only wants "allies" because his lousy foreign policy was brought to the forefront in the last elections and he has that to live down. The Arabs do NOT trust Obama and will not stick out their necks for him over Iran. They see him moving the goalpost all the time in Iran's favour. But...they all want Syria's massive stockpile of WMD secured though. All this drama with apology and compensation is totally unnecessary and it shows how weak Obama has become in the ME. If he cannot persuade a jack**s like Erdogan for a "hudna" with Israel for the purpose of effecting an operation to secure WMD then he is not worth the damn shoes the Arabs pelt at him.
35. to 33
mirriam levy ,   tiberias   (03.28.13)
What does it cost? Apparently about 9 million dollars and our self respect for starters.
36. Bennet is not bashing Bibi at all...
Colorado ,   USA   (03.28.13)
All he is saying is that Turkey is going overboard, and also that the "apology" was not an invitation to Moslems to start problems--and if they do, then Israel is prepared.
37. Bennet IS NOT "Slamming" ...
Colorado ,   USA   (03.28.13)
Bennett is not slamming the apology as the misleading headline states. He's slamming Turkey. Doi. The only other person Obama hates more than Bibi.... and for the same reasons--he also doesn't back down in defense of the Jewish State.
38. Erdogan
Edouard ,   Montreal canada   (03.28.13)
This is the last thing we need Turkey in the eu and in NATO The Trojan horse in Europe
39. insanity and more
EISENFELD ,   ISRAEL   (03.28.13)
It`s a shame and an alliance with those looking to tie the hands of Israel and prevent him to defend itself. This is not a governement carying for his army and his people.
40. Bibi not at all to blame...
Colorado ,   USA   (03.28.13)
Don't forget that Obama is the one who wants Bibi gone. He was on the phone as a conference call when Bibi made the call. Wonder why that was. If Obama wants Bibi gone, then you can bet it's SUPER IMPORTANT for Bibi to have wide public support. I don't trust anyone who is getting into Bibi-bashing. You have no idea of the threats being put his direction, most likely on a personal level, mafia style, or against the State, terror style.
41. Stop Being Girl Scouts in the M.E.
Noah Lev ,   Los Angeles USA   (03.28.13)
Int it true that one mistake can take years to rectify.Im thinking of the Dura Affair/vacatng Gaza w/o a treaty. In both caes Irael has paid dearly. One self hating US Jewish professor faults Israel for everythng.. Im sure he will bend the situation here with Turkey Assuming Isrel gets the 9m 10 times over from the US did Israel win? Sme would say blood moey. Anti-Semities would say its the Jew lobby. Turkey can boast of it's "deal" with the Jews khow it out smarted them. again. But I would look further guys. What now does Turkey expect, demand and psh for from Israel, the USA,NATO? Going on board the flotilla with paint balls started this. The boat should have been sunk in mid ocecan or had its engines destroyed No need to board..just let it sink and stink. To Israel; try using your heads. Being Boy,Girl Scouts in the M.E.doesnt work. Or let it go through, and cnfiscatge the booty onshore, arrest the bastareds...and try for sedition. Erdogen has problems, and like No.Korea makes thereats against countries like Israel, which it knows will back off. He sees Livni in thewings, hovering...who will give him 5m shekes, money from US charity donors. What will Thomas Friedman say? What willtheNYtimes write of Israel's apology? What willHaaretz think? To Israel: dont make mistakes...act like you are at war, which you are. The Kurds do.
42. Bennet's first concern,,,,
Ricky ,   The Bronx   (03.28.13)
Bennet's first concern should be to wonder how his appearence came to be the way it is, then be silent so as not to sound so foolish, stupid and impetuous. This man has no wisdom and is a spoiled ingrate, a child of privaledge in the U.S. and the Land of Israel as Yachomovich(sic) has stated, he, this man as Leiberman are not assets to Israel but liabilities, plain and simple. Its one thing to look like an ass but to sound like one,,,,,,, just keep watching this idiot,,, young fool.
43. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.28.13)
Oh, please! Surely you do not mean to suggest that Turkey matters to anyone .... except Turkey! Israel will NOT pay the huge sums to Turkey for a passel of dead terrorists. The world should pay Israel for taking out the trash. Israel will NOT lift its fully legal and internationally recognized blockade of Gaza. Oh -- and, lest I forget the REAL reason for the tiff .... Israel will NOT share its natural gas and petroleum find with Turkey. Not even with the Turkish controlled part of Cyprus. Boo, hoo, hoo. Cry me a river. By the way -- what's going on with Turkey? The last time I was in Iskenderun (a couple of months ago), I noticed that all the shipyards and drydocking berths were silent and rusting over. And forty Turkish shipping companies (including Marvel, which once upon a time was second only to Maersk) have gone bankrupt. Got a little problem, there? Boo, hoo, hoo. Cry me another river ... dearest.
44. Sarah Turkey is part of NATO it matters.
Just Sayin' ,   Israel   (03.28.13)
go read some history instead of making knee jerk statements based in your delusional wishful thinking and then you may understand (or not!) Obviously though you already understand because if you didn't you would have stayed AWAY from nasty personal attacks against those who disagree with you.
45. bow low
Edward ,   England   (03.28.13)
Bow low before the mighty Ottoman.
46. Interesting and amusing at the thoughts of having to
Edithann ,   USA   (03.28.13)
give back stolen loot and then with repartations...Which hurts more, giving it back or reparations? Apologizing or making reparation payments? TATA
