1. The Arab League is the answer, not NATO.

They have the money and all the equipment needed. Arab for Arab. Let them sort out the mess.
2. #1 not that simple
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (03.27.13)
This is a Sunni-Shiite war. The Sunni (Arabs and Turks) as well as France, UK, US) are funneling massive amounts of weapons to the Sunni Jihad, but did not expect that the secular coalition of Alawi, Shiite, and Christians would hold on so long. To defeat Assad and his allies, the Sunni need to neutralize Assad's airforce. The problem is that the third-rate airforces and fifth-rate pilots of the Arab and Turkish airforces are terrified to confront Assad. What General Mood of the UN is really doing is begging for US or Israeli intervention to help the Sunni Jihadis defeat Assad.

arab league convened There Was A EMPTY CHAIR? It used to belong to assad, this vacancy yesterday Was A Big Statement? They called to the podium the gen. of the fsa who just stepped down due to chaos among opposition, the writing is on the wall. Soon assad will be No More. Question is who will run that territory of land?
4. no fly zones = direct involvement
zionist forever   (03.28.13)
First it means getting into a shoot out with the Syrian military because to enforce a no fly zone all air defences need to be taken out. Even in Libya where Gadafi was operating antiques the Europeans called on the US to do the initial dirty work so they could safely enforce a no fly zone. Unlike Libya Syria has reasonably good defenses and all it takes is for 1 American plane to get shot down before the public start saying why are our boys being killed in a syrian war? Then there is the cost issue, enforcing that no fly zone in the much weaker Libya cost the US & Europeans billions. Can they afford to waste more billions in Syria especially if they start using Patriot missiles which cost about $1 million a pop. The more liberal Europeans love to go save the world if there is no risk but it won't win Obama any friends back home and its the US who needs to take all the risks to make it all safes for European to enforce a no fly zone. It would probably also increase the chances of Assad using his WMDS if he sees the west are now at war with him directly so there is no longer anything to loose, at least this way he can go down in a blaze of glory. As long as he thinks he can avoid western intervention and he is still surviving Assad is probably not going to use them but when he has nothing to loose anymore why not use them? Civil wars should be fought by the citizens of the country involved not foreign powers.
5. #2. Yes - and both camps are dangerous anyhow you look at it
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.28.13)
So, the idea is to leave them alone to slug it out. I don't want Assad to fall - I'm not joking! I want him to stay up & up. Left to me, I would supply both sides with arms. Yeah! Sunni vs Shia. How long did the Israelites wander in the desert? 40 years? Well, a 40 year civil war in Syria will be the BEST thing that could ever happen to the region and the world. If only there is a way to secure the WMD!!! Yeah!!! I want the situation to remain complex, the more complex, the better. Erdogan is mad and a real idiot. He took a fine, promising country and squashed it under his boots. He should not be put in charge of anything, but Obama wants to make him a king. Obama will mess up everything. He always does. Look how he messed up Bibi by this premature reconciliation. Now, instead of getting down to serious business, Erdogan is playing to the crowd, admiring himself in the mirror / posters and trying to boost his image in the most obscene manner. He is Turkey's Rihanna and is as empty-headed as she is. I would SPIT him out like yesterday. He has more AMBITION than COMMON SENSE. I once had dealings with some young Turks. They were intelligent, vibrant, friendly and a real pleasure to interact with. I cannot reconcile those with the present leadership. People are brought up in homes. Erdogan and his side-kick Dava whatever must have been dragged up in some gutter.
6. @ 2. Then let the Saudis do it!
Janson ,   London, UK   (03.28.13)
We in the UK have had enough of war. We have fought - Gulf War, Bosian War, Kosovo War, Afghanistan War, Iraq War & Libyan War (and are helping the French with Mali). The majorty of voters here are sick of war, the body count and the cost, and the politicians agree. Let some one else sort out this one - India or Brazil or Japan if they are so damn keen to get a seat on the Security Council! One defence minister who delt with Serbia went on record to day saying 'The Saudi's should impose the no-fly zone, we have sold them so much weapons over the years, they have a better airforce than we do".
7. Mood's moods.
Get Real ,   UK   (03.30.13)
On the one hand he wants to impose a no-fly zone and on the other hand not to supply arms to the rebels, although the US is alleged to have sent weapons to the rebels. The Syrian army and reserves number many hundreds of thousands. Hardly likely to bring an end to the daily slaughter but at least it goes some way to levelling the playing field. This is an internal Syrian civil war and the last thing needed is US/Israeli air involvement. Let the Arab League take this on as part of their recognition of the rebels. Perhaps the whole matter should be referred to the UN, the place where the world loves to run to whenever Israel defends herself.
