2. Italy is a beautiful country with many generous people
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (04.08.13)
despite incidents like the one reported here, and despite its fascist past, italians are among the most warm hearted people i have known. the italian government must ensure that antisemitic incidents are punished. the government must teach in schools the ethics of acceptance.
3. It's not racism, it's hate.
Yossef   (04.08.13)
4. disturbing that most of the students didn't boycott classes
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (04.08.13)
While the 2 girls friends should be commended for standing by her, it's sad that the rest of the students felt indifferent enough to do nothing.
5. Italian Math Teacher Vile and Evil
elizabethlynne ,   Dallas, Texas!   (04.08.13)
As a teacher myself, I say with the greatest feeling that such a wicked person has no place in a classroom. She is a vile, sick person---disgusting. Auschwitz a place of order? Only a maniac could say such a disgraceful thing.
6. איזו מורה מעפנה

12. Antisemitism and ignorance in italian high school
Giulia ,   Milan, Italy   (04.08.13)
I'm glad she found support. At my second year (2005) in one of the most renowned public high schools of Milan, after some classmates reduced me to tears with one of their common antisemitic jokes on death camps (knowing about the deportation of part of my family), I run out of the class and I asked for help to my favourite professor. He answered, with a hand on my shoulder: "I'm sorry, but it's the destiny of your people".
13. Ummm...
Steve Grumman ,   Tucson, AZ, USA   (04.08.13)
I don't think it's appropriate for a teacher to comment about religion in any classroom. However, if a person keeps his views to himself, they are his business and far be it from me to want to force another opinion on him.
14. Thank you to the girl's two friends
R ,   Israel   (04.08.13)
Although the article doesn't state the religion of the girl's two friends, it doesn't sound like they were Jewish and their actions are an example of what it takes to stop anti-Semitism or other forms of bigotry in its tracks. I hope they do get recognition for their actions. These three girls are luck to have each other as such good friends.
15. students standing by the other student
natalie ,   NY, USA   (04.08.13)
where are all the morals in this class? the teacher should have been slapped and the students should have all walked out ...that would be "order."
16. Why are we all missing the point!
frank ,   rehovot   (04.08.13)
if this same teacher had said something to a black student about slavery the world would have risen, the waters parted and she would have lost her job! but since it was ONLY against jews it doesn't matter. The problem is state allowed anti-semitism. When was the last time you saw an article about rioting blacks destroying for welfare and unemployment? It exists! it is there! but no one will write about it, why? blacks. People are afraid. People worry about being Polictially correct...but not with jews. Remember we own the newspapers (as if) all the banks (yeah right) and drink christian blood....
17. democracy

23. Twisted Teacher Must Be Fired, Otherwise

24. so hurful
Friend of the Jew ,   Accra, Ghana   (04.08.13)
Oh my God this is so hurtful. I'm utterly outraged by this. Kudos to the girl and her friends for standing firm.
25. Sadly after all these decades???
Isabella1709 ,   Tampa USA   (04.08.13)
What ever would allow this teacher to say such a mean, spiteful thing to a Jewish student? Have we learned so little over these decades????
26. 25 - to a Jewish student? ,...
split ,   US   (04.08.13)
Why there're jewish students in Italy, didn't they have a time to assimilate and blend in ? ,...
27. Definitely a "stupid academic"
MikeA ,   Boston, USA   (04.08.13)
Professors and teachers, for all of their academic research and knowledge, can be quite ignorant, hateful, and stupid. This is one of those cases. What the teacher said was inexcusable and she should be fired immediately and perhaps even charged with a crime of inciting hate speech. BUT, no way that she represents the sentiments of Italians in general. In my experience, Italians are good people and good friends of Jews and Israel.
28. two of her friends decided to boycott the teacher's classes
S   (04.08.13)
The remaining 32 didn't, not to mention their tongues-in-cheeks and discreet smirks on their faces ,...
29. Incident of the anti-Semitic remark on one student!
Luis ,   Puerto Rico   (05.27.13)
Of course history will repeat itself again and again in a country with a very strong Roman Catolic background, I can surely bet that this so-called teacher will only get a mild slap on her (left) hand then business as usual but I can only bet that if the student was a non-Jew, the teacher is in alot of trouble something like suspended without pay, maybe her teaching license taken away or worst a big hefty law-suit by the student parents in court!! But who cares, she is a Jew and I am sure that Benito, Hitler's Italian sidekick would be proud of they sub-human teacher!! ADL, please make a follow up of this madness!!
