1. Amazing
Cameron ,   USA   (04.14.13)
The lure of a cheap & exotic setting trumps Islamist hatred? Curious state of affairs.

SG ,   Teaneck   (04.15.13)
5. Its good for tourism
kren   (04.15.13)
and Istanbul is one of most beautiful places for me, esp Cihangir neighborhood and Istanbul's modern skyline is growing as well. turkey's economy does not depend on Israeli tourism its only a small fraction and Turks/muslims have always been fair to jews, now its time for jews to be fair as well and stop spewing hatred against turkey because it really will benefit you least. Stop making good news like this a platform for religious and political attacks.
6. #3:So? I'm not saying "don't drive German cars", but this?!
tom ,   tel aviv   (04.15.13)
7. Encourage Israelis to vacation at home
Fred ,   Petach Tikva   (04.15.13)
why can't Israel promote cheaper vacation spots here in our own country and then we could keep the money at home and be safer.
8. #5 Who is spewing hatred?
frauss ,   Jerusalem   (04.15.13)
Why exactly did Israelis stop going to Turkey? The attacks of your prime minister Erdogan and foreign minister did the job. And that was happening before the Cast Lead operation in Gaza.
9. Cheap? islamist hatred?
a ,   mke usa   (04.15.13)
Cheap? Really? You have no idea. IIslamist hatred? Have you ever travelled outside your residence?
10. To nr 3 - Turkey is dependent on Israeli...
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.15.13)
...civilian and military technology. Wihout Israel, the Turks would have no air force to begin with. American F-16s contain a substantial amount of Israeli technology and during the "flotilla crisis" between 2010 and 2013, USA denied the Turks the right to purchase American F-16s since they contain Israeli technology, and Israel nixed the business deals. Israel can replace Turkey with other business partners. Asia, Latin America and Africa have business potential. Out of self respect, Israelis should not go to Turkey - as a matter of principle. An Israeli "boycott" of Turkish tourist resorts will not destroy Turkey's tourism industry - I never claimed such thing, but it's a matter of pride and self respect - you don't reward a nation whose government and majority population is engaged in anti-Semitism on a daily basis. Turkey has cheap resorts, but that is no excuse for Israelis to go to Turkey. And to Israelis who are contemplating going to Turkey: HAVE YOU NO SHAME? I also want to remind you dear Michael that during the crisis between Israel and Turkey, trade was still moving on as usual. But it does not mean that Israelis have to humiliate themselves - again - by going to a country where the government and the civilians are anti-Semitic and try to undermine Israel's existence in any way they can. And your indifference to this plain and simple fact can either be interpreted as you being a Jewish coward without any self respect and backbone, or a Jewish traitor, or an anti-Semitic gentile living in Israel. But it is strange to speak of high morals and treating other countries well when Turkey is prime example of a country that doesn't treat Israelis/Jews very well. Morals, ethics and good behavior is not a one way street. I yet have to read a talkback where you actually acknowledge that Jews/Israelis are equal among all nations and we deserve the same freedom, the same privilegies and the same respect as everyone else - that is if you believe all human beings are equal. More than 50% of Turkey's population is hostile to Israel and their hostility started BEFORE the "flotilla crisis". But if you hate Israel so much I suggest you move to Istanbul. I will certainly not go to Turkey - my pride and my integrity come first. Who cares about Turkey having "cheap" resorts?
11. @No. 10 - Alexander
(04.15.13)
I agree with you. If I was Israeli, I would never vacation in Turkey again. Turks just do not stop celebrating "their victory over Israel". When pointing out to them that it would have been a nice gesture if also Turkey conceded that they made mistakes in this case, you get disgusted looks and replies as to the effect that "Turkey has done nothing wrong!". With people like that I cannot get along, and I would not spend our money in their country.
12. Pride and respect have nothing to do with this
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (04.16.13)
I could never vacation in Turkey (even with free ticket) as I'd have Erdogan's hateful remarks echoing in my ears throughout vacation time. And that is not vacation. Turkey is now enemy territory for me.
13. Why are Israelis' memories so short?
Mike ,   London, UK   (04.16.13)
14. I wont be going to Turkey again as I
Ben ,   Israel   (05.27.13)
want to enjoy my vacation and cant do that in an country that I am not comfortadoble with. I would feel like saying "I DONT APOLOGISE" and probably get arrested. Will stick with home grown vacations. I wont even buy "Made in Turkey" .
15. Shame Israelis have such short
Peggy   (05.27.13)
memories and forget what happened on the Marmara. Why go and spend money in a country where so many hate you. Go figure the Israeli holiday makers mentality.
