A painting of Jesus or Mary painted with elephant dung displayed in Brooklyn Museum is a form of expression an art but few burned pieces of wood are an evidence of hate crime ,... BTW the name of Brooklyn Museum Director at the time was Arnold Lehman ,...
3. Time to pack?
Akiva ,   NYC   (04.09.13)
If this grotesque act of anti-Jewish arson happened in the EU American posters would be telling Jews to quickly pack and move to Israel. The USA, like the rest of the world has seen acts of anti-Semitism and we must fight back through the appropriate channels. When we move to Eretz Israel it should be because of Ahavas Yisrael.
4. #2 - you cannot attribute blame to Jews
William ,   Israel   (04.09.13)
Your obvious ignorance and biases aside, you cannot attribute your own issues to Jews. First, Mezuzot are not just "pieces of wood". Inside they carry the verses from the Torah - words of G-d - with the commandment to bind his words on the door frame. It is those words that are sacred, not so much the wood case surrounding it. This action wasn't art, it was full of hatred and targeted a certain demographic. It wasn't even a commentary on religion in general. Second, the battle for the paintings of Jesus and Mary in Elephant dung (which I find every bit reprehensible as you do) was led by the ACLU and claiming it as a freedom of speech. The director of the Brooklyn Museum may be Jewish, by his name, but is he practicing? What are his personal views of Christianity? And why would his actions suddenly blacken the entire Jewish population? That aside, if the court rules this kind of art is protected by freedom of speech there is little the museum director can do. The person who should be on trial here is the artist who created it - which they claim is an artful expression - no doubt of their personal views of religion - and not as an act to denigrate Christianity or Christians specifically which would indeed be considered a hate-crime. Save your anger for the people who truly deserve and stop beating on Jews to ease your battered soul.
5. They shouldn't feel proud

These losers thought they are only hurting Jews. In fact they also burned at least 33 writings of G-ds name. Good luck vandals

8. @2: Lehman is an Ango-Saxon Name
emanon ,   USA   (04.10.13)
Look up the origins of the name. That's how I found out. So, I guess you really want to blame the Saxons? Or the Brits? Or what is your point? Do you even have a point, other than trying to stir people up and incite hatred?
9. #2: What Does The Director's Name Have To Do With It?
emanon ,   USA   (04.10.13)
What does a museum director's name have to do with whatever it is you are trying to say? Are we supposed to contact him for his opinion, his rationale for the exhibit?
